  1. The shoe thing was the best bit (that, and the "Bull Crap" line). I hope this show can last a few years, so they can have a scene where Jessica yells at the tv screen while watching Sex & The City, and starts bitching about that ungrateful Carrie whining about removing her heels at some other person's home. I found Eddie quite likeable in this episode. But I admit that I can't foresee myself ever really *loving* this character. I think the show kinda realizes that the parents are the true centre of this show, yet it's Eddie who is the narrator. I don't think they need the voiceovers.
  2. I HATED Stefan/Caroline. I suspect they will suffer no repercussions once both return back to "normal". HATE. My UO is I have always liked Elena. And I have always loved Matt. I would love it if Matt and Elena leave together, but Matt is probably gonna stay. Anything not related to S&C and useless Enzo, I found quite touching.
  3. My Madam Secretary opinion. I like Stevie and Daisy. I hate, hate, hate Tim Daly.
  4. I don't mind Stevie, but I can barely tolerate episodes where Tim Daly literally saves the world. I wouldn't mind if that character goes away. I too hate Annoying Dog Guy. I don't get why he has been added to the show. If they want someone other than Elizabeth to mock the staff, why not just have Neuwirth just do it? She's been sidelined while his presence is expanded.
  5. Let's also remember that Nashville's main gay character is still *in* the closet.
  6. Gayle o' Grady is so great. I absolutely loved that scene where she, Emily, Jack and Nolan were working together. I can't even with Margaux.
  7. The way Becky interacts with Luscious, she probably was comfortable in adding her 2 cents to whatever talent decision he had to make. And assistants are often tasked with ensuring that the talents' demands are fulfilled and their concerns addressed. And I'm assuming she has the requisite educational credentials.
  8. The mere presence of Sugar really lifted the energy of that performance, I felt. The writers really did waste Vanessa's talents while she was on the show. I didn't mind any of it, except Sue. Sue robbed me of other characters' moments. Sue sucks. I will say this--with Emma/Schue, Glee showed that it is still possible to keep a long-term couple together when one of the actors leaves the show. You don't necessarily have to kill them off, or have them separate, or have them disappear.
  9. Is there why Lee would be unable to depict such a relationship? I thought Precious did a good job with Precious and the teacher, and Precious and the other girls in that class. I really like the idea of Andre denouncing rap, hip hop, etc., as he embraces a more strictly religious lifestyle. Perhaps Rhonda's family could share in that religion. If Vernon is truly dead, they need another older man who is equal to Lucious. Bring back Cuba! Are Lucious' parents alive? If so, I would hire Diahann Carroll and Lou Gossett Jr. Jamal needs his own assistant now. I say hire Michael Urie.
  10. Jones and Sidibe were so great. I like how loyal they are to their bosses. With Vernon gone (a big loss, something that I don't think the writers will be able to replace so easily), Becky and Porsha seem to be the next in line behind the Lyon Family.
  11. That was a lot of fun. With Vernon not in the scene (I think it's a real shame--my favourite scene of the night was the one between Cookie and Vernon), I would love to see a storyline where Anika, Cookie and Rhonda (all with different motives) team up and find real evidence to prove that Luscious killed Bunkie.
  12. With the growing success of airbnb, I wonder if a tv show where people visit people's home while traveling could work. You could try 2-3 different airbnbs in one city, while still checking out that city's sites and sounds. A mishmash of House Hunters and a travelogue.
  13. I generally hate "love to hate" characters. Generally speaking, those characters aren't all that "hated" much, or we're supposed to enjoy them in some way even when they bad things. I would prefer that a character I hate is supposed to be hated. One "love to hate" character I truly hate is Sue on Glee. A character who is "hated" and entertainingly so was Dr. Romano on "ER", even though there were plenty of fans who thought it sooooo unfair that Elizabeth never ended up loving like he deserved it or something. All of these unpopular characters like Dawson or Lana or Laurel or that witch on Sleepy Hollow--I never quite get it. But generally "good" characters seem to get under a lot of people's skins.
  14. I forget. Did any of the sons visit Cookie? I could see Andre and certainly Hakeem not. In Hakeem's defence, he would be too young to go alone). Did Jamal never visit Cookie? I vaguely recall one flashback of a prison visit. So, maybe Cookie suspected Jamal was gay (even if Jamal didn't come out to her), which was confirmed when she first saw Michael. And if Jamal never visited Cookie, why the hell not?
  15. I so agree with this. Tea is really remarkable. I have always found Tea kinda jocular in attitude, and I think the writers have been successful in really bringing out that snarky side while still having her be intelligent and optimistic/idealistic. Tea is much more presidential than Keith Carradine, who is my main disappointment with this show. Otherwise, really enjoying the show. I hope it has another season.
  16. I can't give much thought over the whole NYADA vs. Broadway Show storyline, just because I can't even fathom the idea that a school would block a student from taking on such an endeavour. Is that what happens in real life? Given how so few people end being working actors, why prevent a person from such an opportunity?
  17. I guess it's official--there will never be one Vocal Adrenaline performance I will ever enjoy. I just never like them. And tonight was no different. I much prefer New Directions. Albeit condensed, I really did like this new group. I think the animosity between ND and Warblers could've been a neat storyline over a course of a season (maybe not the very last season, but oh well). If only they existed in season 4. Honestly, I can't recall a season where there was such an emphasis on Sue. She is all over the place. Gawd, I can't stand her.
  18. I don't care about the Junkies either. I like the family with the son in custody (I stil don't get why he's in custody). I really don't understand the wife's parents demanding where the husband is buried. If the wife survives, shouldn't she have final say? Otherwise, the husband's parents should have the final say. I don't get those parents at all.
  19. I find Dre extremely annoying. Tracee Ellis Ross is the most consistent pleasure. The kids are cute, but haven't done much to stand out either. I think Fresh Off the Boat is the better show.
  20. I don't have a problem with how the writers portrayed Cookie's suspicion/concern of Andre's bi-polar. To me, I thought when Cookie used "white", I think she was referring less about the mental illness, but the treatment of the mental illness--the music therapy, in particular. Oh gawd, I hope Vernon is still around, even with his demons. I like his way of deception, and I find his treatment of the boys the most admirable (even more so than Cookie's). I wish we see a Vernon/Andre scene, at some point.
  21. Rhonda was my MVP tonight. While I won't disagree that Luscious is entitled to transfer his shares in the company the way he wants, I do feel if he's gonna renege on something, he let them know in advance. Especially, when one of the reasons is due to Andre's mental illness. I had predicted wayyy back that Luscious was the son but given the flashbacks, I was thinking Andre would end up being the dad, where Andre and Olivia had sex during one of his manic episodes. I friggin' love Naomi Campbell. But why, if she didn't accept the money, is she leaving?
  22. This was easily my favourite episode. I totally get being grouped with another kid because they were Asian too. Also, a great relationship builder for the mom and son. The actor who played the cowboy was on Suburgatory. He's quite funny and good looking--I hope he's getting better work than this guest spot.
  23. Whether successful or not, the fifth season featured Mary's romantic entanglements, Tom/Bunting, Rose/Atticus (the most successful by a long shot). There is a lack of "youth" in the Downstairs section and with Rose leaving, it'll even be "worse." I wonder if Fellowes is missing an opportunity by not having Dickie and Isobel marrying--the two sons can provide another element to the show. One son is really quite loathsome (which the show could use, anyway), but the other could realistically evolve. There is Daisy, but honestly, I find her overall irritating. But she can go to a school, where there would be other people of her age.
  24. As an Asian-Canadian male a few years older than the kids on the show around that time, I have to say that I am more like the two young boys than Eddie. I was probably more like the grunge cousin. I knew Eddie's in my school, but I didn't really hang out with them. Eddie is my least favourite character on the show. The parents are a bit more aware of pop culture than my own parents. The grandmother is actually quite similar to mine. The family, IRL, would probably be more involved in the restaurant business (i.e., the kids doing their homework on one of the dining tables), but as I don't much like that side of the show, I'll forgive. I do have to remind myself that the family is from Taiwan. I'm Vietnamese. I don't think I know anyone Taiwanese.
  25. The Warbler/Jane stuff was actually good stuff--it just makes me like the New Kids even more. The emphasis on Sue is driving me batty.
