  1. Kudos to Whitworth's actor. My gosh is he creepy. I was laughing hysterically when George heard the frogs, because i literally thought he somehow recognized the sounds of Ross' footsteps. And then i was thinking of course george would have the sound of ross' footsteps memorized. But then it was the frogs he was talking about. :P Finally someone reminded demelza that her/ross and caroline/dwight is a thing that happened. I haven't been too fond of her not supporting drake due to the class difference (and george). It's like...you were in a similar situation yourself not too long ago...she quickly changed her tune though. Nana Poldark with that beastly staredown with Whitworth. Be very afraid, Whitworth...be very afraid... Love how she calls george, georgie. I do wish she'd stop making jabs at valentine's rickets though. Leave the poor baby alone, please. *edited because everytime i think i've hit the 'a' key it always ends up as an 's.'
  2. Another good episode! Gotham's on a roll. I like this lee. She's so much better when she's not tied down with stupid romance drama. She's allowed to be her intelligent self here and it's refreshing. Poor Butch/Grundy :( i just want to wrap him in some blankets and give him a big hug. You do not deserve this. Ed is not your friend. At least lee tried to warn him. He's become a sympathetic character. Props to the guy who played Professor Pyg. Talk about creepy. Sofia continues to slay and Oswald continues to be a sucker. Zsasz! Good to have the gordlock antics back! This is what we should be getting Also, an episode where they let harvey remind the audience that he's actually a pretty smart cookie when it comes to the street smart cop stuff Oh harvey, :( i screamed so loud when pyg slit his throat. And then that reveal with Harvey being on Pengy's payroll. Broke my heart and jim's. Gordlock's managed to evade a hardcore breakup, but this and next episode might be it. :'( So, jim, you seem pretty cool with asking ozzy for help/info, etc. Despite being against his licensed crime... And i'm surprised pyg is a fan of jim's. Sure he's against the licensed crime stuff, but surely you know about all the other dirty deeds Jimbo has done???
  3. RIP henshawe :( you were a good man and will be missed. The singing quartet with the perfect harmony kinda took me out of the funeral scene though. :/ George is just embarassing himself at this point. You know it's bad when even goonish Whitworth is side-eyeing him. Even elizabeth looks fed up with his constant whining. Nana Poldark pulling out the tarot cards and forseeing some not so good things for morwenna and drake. Love you, nana. Not much else to say about this episode, actually. Henshawe will be missed, glad to see dwight home, george is embarassing himself.
  4. ^ huh, it is just Spiro, according to the pbs site. I was going off wikipedia, so they're wrong too i guess? Is it Spiro in the books as well?
  5. Well, Larry finally moved out. :( i suppose it had to happen at some point. I do think the family could have been more supportive of his novel release though. Was not expecting Spiros to be that intense of a teacher...yikes. But it was probably what he grew up with. At least he adjusted his teaching style and got gerry some magpies. He made that comment about "getting back to his family"...hmmm...i just don't understand why we haven't been introduced to them if something wasn't up. I don't know what to think anymore. The biggest mystery of the show. And now gerry has a really old guy for a tutor. Leslie's just a big ol' teddy bear. I chuckle everytime lugaretzia calls him her favorite. Speaking of lugaretzia, she had the best quote of the night with her, "finally, power" line. Hugh continues to be sketchy but he is quite the character. The magical fiddler makes me chuckle everytime he shows up.
  6. Finally watched the episode: A new intro! I love the show's intro, it makes it unique compared to the other masterpiece shows This show just makes me so happy. It never fails to make me laugh Those mustaches! Oh my gosh! Poor roger! At least leslie felt bad and even made him a doggy wheelchair by the end I laughed so hard when the bees started attacking leslie and the rest of the family and theo just went on with their day ignoring him So margo's gonna be a nun. Huh. We'll see how long that lasts I'm just so happy to see louisa and sven stay on good terms. I do like their chemistry, platonically speaking of course. He let them borrow (have?) some of their goats! Larry and that landlady...i know what they're hinting at but i'd rather it not happen :/ Gerry's animal thing strikes me as odd sometimes. Like, he grieves over a dead otter but has no problem disecting animals and stuff. Kinda contradictory. Lastly, Spiros!!! He's still a darling gem. And like everyone else here, i also wish to know the mystery behind his relationship and family status. I've always had the inkling that he's a widow. And i think he's totally showing signs of liking Louisa. I felt like he and hugh briefly sized each other up in that one scene. I saw spiros eyeing up hugh's spiffy car compared to his... The episode could have used just a tad more Lugaretzia, but otherwise it just feels so good to have this show back. It's quickly become my new favorite in the current lineup of masterpiece shows (because the others have all begun to fail me in some capacity). It's like a ray of sunshine compared to the melodramas of poldark, grantchester, victoria, etc.
  7. I know i'm a week late, but i was camping, so a few of my thoughts: Nana Poldark is honestly life goals. She's willing to brave the cold and neglect just so she can torment George more. And Jeffy boy bringing her toads (*whispers* witch!) :') he loves her so darn much. I keep thinking if Aunt Agatha doesn't live to be 150 (that should be no problem considering her magical powers), i hope Jeffy takes up her mantle in all things witchy. Someone needs to poison George's tea. Elizabeth is getting more evil by the episode. She and george have become quite the detestable pair. The suitor guy for morwenna is creepy and goony and i feel like he belongs in a jane austen novel. He could totally play mr. Collins or any of the other creepy oafish suitors in those novels. Surprised that demelza doesn't approve of the drake/morwenna stuff, considering how she herself went through the same thing practically. Is it more because she's worried about what george would do seeing how they're connected in a way? I wish they'd just toss the other eldest carne brother. He serves no role right now. He just says his intense preachy things and everyone else just rolls their eyes. Like, what's the point of it?
  8. I'd be kinda fine with it ending how it did. I feel like they wrapped things up well enough. i'd honestly love for it to go out while sidney and amanda are officially over and him choosing the church over her. At least that'd make me content. Yes, i'm that petty. Oh well, if it does come back i hope they retool it a bit. And if it doesn't i actually don't think i'll really miss it too much.
  9. Another good episode! Glad to see butch get more focus and more to do now. Yes, he's Grundy now, but i'll take it. He's been one of my favorites since the beginning. The grundy/nygma duo seems fun. I feel like it especially works with it being a "dumb" nygma. The duo gives me frankenstein feels. More of that pharmacist dude please. He was fun. That whole scene with ed was fun Stop yelling at harvey, jim, he's trying tocdo his job! And the return of harvey's glasses! It's understandable that his role has been small the past few episodes, but it hasn't stopped a huge harvey-shaped hole forming in my heart. And speaking of missing characters... I haven't really missed selina. Not saying that i'm fine with that (i don't dislike her or anything), but i think it speaks for the good writing/plot we've been getting recently. I haven't really missed ivy or tabs the past few episodes I highly doubt ra's is gone for good. It'd be too easy. alexander siddig is absolutely killing his role as ra's. Ra's has been chilling. Just the way he talked about he would just vanish and when bruce has almost forgotten about him he'd come back to murder everyone dear to him...sends shivers down my spine Lee...i don't know what to think of her return. We'll see. She seems to be in a bad spot right now. Her stint of being evil has clearly gotten to her. Continuing to love queen sofia. I love how she's so suttle about her tactics. I like her style, it's different from more of the in-your-face stuff we've gotten with maroni or falcone. Is it just me or are they suddenly writing jim a little better? Like, the past two episodes he hasn't been as dumb dumb as he usually is (hes still kinda dumb, but he seems to have improved)??? Is it because he's been thrust into an adult authority position concerning the alex and bruce stuff recently? If so, please continue to write more stuff like this because i think it works in favor of jim. I feel like this is more like what he should have been. Too much other nonsense. More of jim doing his job as a cop please. So far i've been really enjoying this season, so i hope it keeps up. It started a little slow but the ra's al ghul arc has been pretty fantastic. Much better than the uneven season 3 we got.
  10. Dang. Poor Alex. He did not deserve this. That was kind of hard to watch :(. Gotham always has to off the interesting characters after 1 episode. :/ i still miss raptor hand girl. Ra's in that cheesy disguise outfit thing (or whatever that was supposed to be) gave me indiana jones vibes for some reason. I'm surprised he didn't tell jim that the knife belonged in a museum. A sociopath indeed. My gosh, i can't keep thinking about poor Alex. Uurghh. Jim was dumb for giving ra's valuable info and then alfred mucke it up even more by coming in and causing a scuffle, letting ra's escape. Bruce. Bruce. I don't know what to say. I know the knife is important...but you let alex die. :( Babs looks better with the slicked back hair instead of when it looks like a mop. She's gonna have some stiff competition now that sofia's here. She's playing everyone like a fiddle. I'll be okay with the jim romance thing if it's sofia just using jim. Please don't have her actually fall for him. I vote for Sofia to be the new queen of gotham. Victor was precious as always, and it was good to see Other Victor as well! Honestly the ed/oswald stuff was the least interesting part of the episode this time. Rip those rapping riddle guys. :( Anubis was freaky with that gollum impression. Eeek. Good episode overall. Ben did a good job writing. Based on this he's a much better writer than director. I'd be down for him writing more episodes if they kept this quality. Definitely the best episode of the season so far.
  11. Uurrrghhhh why Disco Why????? Just let the show die. It's time. Everyone's old and weary and i don't want to feel as though my soul's getting sucked out of me every episode. :/ unless they announce a shortened season i'm probably gonna tap out too. We'll see when the time comes i guess.
  12. So so episode. Not enough nana poldark. Yes, them alluding to the baby being a poldark snd having more of ross' likeness and such is completely ridiculous considering how they're completely ignoring Elizabeth's features. So what's Elizabeth gonna get addicted to? I didn't hear what the doctor said. I actually thought elizabeth's outburst was out of character or poorly done. I know she and demelza don't like each other, but her outburst was just weird and over the top. Rolled my eyes at ross making googly eyes at the french bar maid. I'm actually surprised ross showed up back home without having saved dwight first. He actually used his brain a little. George's attempt at being the people's friend...ended as quickly as it began.
  13. One week! One week until this fabulous show is back! I'm not gonna be able to participate in the episode discussion until about a week later because my family's going camping. Still, i'm so happy to have this show back. It's one of the only series left on masterpiece that i don't get angry or frustrated at when watching.
  14. I'm so desperately behind in watching the marvel movies. I recently tried to watch age of ultron but i turned it off about 10ish minutes in. It was starting out really slow and even then things didn't seem up to snuff. Nat having to sing a lullaby to the hulk to calm him down seemed so unecessary? Pointless? I just found it odd. I made it up to the point where wanda mindzapped tony into seeing that vision. i want to get up to date, but i'm just not feeling it. :(
  15. Dropping in here to say that i watched scaramouche for the first two days ago. I really enjoyed it! The costuming was absolutely gorgeous. The only things that bummed me out a bit were who André ultimately ended up with and the fact that when Ben M. Intro'd the movie i'm pretty sure he said the big swordfight was 8 minutes long and i clocked it in at 6. Either i misheard the length of time or what i considered the start and end of the fight are different from what he considers to be the start and end.
  16. The reason why i don't want a jim romance on this show anymore is this. Jim and lee started out so cute and then it just became relationship drama. Then him and val had a decent flirty thing going on and then that turned into drama crap. I'm not saying to completely remove drama from a relationship, but yeesh, it's been completely overkill with jim and lee. Jim's boyscout character has been destroyed, lee's character's been destroyed and for some reason they keep trying to push these two destroyed characters together. It's too late, though, the damage has been done. Didn't help that jim killed her fiancé. That's not something they can just gloss over (but they seem to be trying, kind of). At this point i would be far happier and be a-okay with tying up jim's romance storyline with him bumping into a random lady while getting his morning coffee, flirting a bit and hinting that they're gonna see each other and maybe start something. Preferrably in the very last episode. Screw dc comics lore. It'd be good enough for me. I'd be satisfied with that conclusion. The show would be much better off just focusing on the jim/harvey bromance and buddy antics and i can't understand why the showrunners or writers can't see that. I wish they'd work on the jim/harvey stuff too because at this point harvey is too good for jim. Harvey always has jim's back but we never see jim having harvey's back (probably because harvey never gets his own storyline or focus anymore--look where the mysterious harvey/fish backstory went...nowhere.). On a different note; whenever i think gotham has a really good paced episode everyone else always thinks its rushed :(. This episode didn't contain any scenes that needed to breathe or last longer for extra drama, so i thought they did a good job with keeping things moving. Was the problem for you guys moreso all the plotlines they were juggling? I thought it worked. I'm curious to know which episodes y'all think are well-paced.
  17. First of all...FALCONE NO YOU CAN'T DIE!!!! WWWWHHHHYYYYYYY. one of my favorite's is dying :( why does this keep happening to me??? Thank you Gotham for granting me one of my greatest wishes for this show: bruce finally beginning to create his playboy persona! As for the rest of the episode: Not fond of the yellow miami filter. It even followed sofia falcone back to gotham. Ick Loved the bruce/babs auction scene. Babs got killer moves now. But i could have done without her and ra's hooking(?) up Poor ed lost all his riddle smarts :( Poor riddle girl. Rip. We hardly knew ye. Just like zsasz, i liked your outfit. Selina, girl, bab's is playing you like a fiddle. Have fun being her lacky. I fell like we've gotten this kind of storyline from her a couple of times already so i'm not too fond of it Jim, jimbo, please. No. Just no. You've known sofia for less than a day and you're already kissing? Please stop with these stupid romance plots. Zsasz has been 3 for 3 this sesson. :') that has to be a record. Let's hope he's in every episode this season. I wonder where the zsaszettes are though. On vacation? Wasn't expecting the short ra's back story. And we have a new detective lady! We'll see how long she lasts... Not a bad episode. Biggest cons for me were the yellow filter and jim being his usual dumb jimbo self. The usual issue with the show. :P
  18. The first hour was 11/10 for me. It was as ridiculous as the season 2 finale. Nana Poldark continues to be the queen supreme of the show. It was wonderful. Did you see how she casted that shadow over the moon and then promptly claimed 2 victims with her magical voodoo? Truly inspiring. Sadly the third victim managed to slip through her fingers (*whispers* elizabeth...). She even cast a curse on george (and/or bby valentine?)! I was kinda expecting the baby to be born with a forked tail with how things were going. Then we jumped from the witching hour to pirates. Like...what??? Now for the serious stuff. My memory must be terrible because i felt like I missed some episodes or something (even though i didn't). First of all, didn't demelza at the end of season 2 say she was gonna peace out for a while and spend time with her horrible family? And since when does she get along with her brothers? The last i remember of them (they were both recasted, weren't they?) they were two bumbling goons following their crappy father around????? Did i miss something??? Next is Jeffy boy. How old is he supposed to be? 6ish?7ish? Because he seems more like 10ish at least and it's throwing me off especially when I'm pretty sure Verity's baby should look a little bit older than it does (i can't remember, was the baby a boy or girl?). At least Jeffy boy is taking after Nana Poldark when it comes to sass. She's taught him well. I noticed how many hairstyles Ross went through during the episode. Their was the perm look, the windswept curls look and the larger ringlets. I wonder who does his hair? His iq continues to match elizabeth's though. First she never fathomed the baby being born earlier and now ross seems to have no clue that the baby could be his and elizabeth just took a tumble down the stairs. Really? Speaking of elizabeth's master plan, i suppose they weren't knowledgable enough back then to consider that horseback riding like that could have induced and early labor, because otherwise she could have used that as an excuse instead of a tumble down the stairs. George needs to take a chill pill. Boy was about to crack at the mere suggestion that maybe ross was offered the magistrate position before him. Uncle Warleggan can go away. The way he was talking about the baby and elizabeth...very aggrivating. Good to see verity again! And morwenna seems like a good addition and drake is okay. The other brother can go away though. His preaching stuff was getting annoying. The lunar eclipse special effects were not very good imo. It started out fne, but then when everything was all red and glowy it looked so fake and atrocious. Most lunar eclipses i've seen never get that ridiculously red and glowy (unless it happened during a strawberry or blood moon?) They're usually a rusty dull color. Meh. Most of the characters managed not to get under my skin this week so i hope that continues. Season 2 was very frustrating.
  19. This episode would have been good for halloween Gotham could only go one episode without lee and the jimlee relationship crap And guess what the weakest part of the episode was? The part where jim overcomes his relationship drama fear in 2 minutes. Simple. Jim gordon does it again Harvey finally standing up to jim. At least the break-up wasn't too bad. Proud of you, harv! Jonathan's scarecrow costume was pretty creepy Batman begins homage with the rock climbing (similar to the cave diving bit) they didn't even bother explaining how queen babs is still alive, but it sounds like they're keeping it secret until later Wished tabs sliced bab's hand off. She kinda deserves it Babs is now creepily calm and it freaks me out a bit Also, is the mop on bab's head supposed to be her hair after she was electrocuted or is it a wig like in-verse to help kinda stay undercover or just a bad fashion choice? The penguin/ivy rift just feels so forced to me. Like, literally two episodes ago (so the season 3 finally) they had opened up a club together and had a brother/sister/friend thing going on and now ivy apparently hates his guts. Yes, i realize ivy is still mentally pre-teenish, but still. Penguin making jerkish comments to her in a couple of scenes doesn't quite cut it for me And ivy just got upgraded to poison ivy! Zsasz continues to delight and has already had more screentime than he did in the entirety of season 3. Or at least it feels that way.
  20. Wait. Hold on. ????? Knockoff Buscemi is actually a Buscemi??????? Oh my gosh, i'm cackling. Sorry for calling you a ripoff, man. I didnt know! I didn't know steve buscemi had a brother (let alone one who acts)
  21. *cracks knuckles* it feels good to be back! Let's do this: Pros: I thought the episode was pretty well-paced I like the selina/tabs pair team-up Surprised ivy's already getting tired of penguin's diva ways. I liked their odd friendship, so i hope things don't go too far south concerning their friendship (for the time being) liked the rooftop scene with batcat The zsasz is back and is as amazing as ever! Good to see ya, zsasz! Poor jon :( he does not deserve any of this Harvey has returned to grace my screen once more :') i've missed you. It seems like we're getting some good homages to batman begins and i'm loving it! I saw that smirk between alfred and zsasz!! I saw that!!! Love how bruce has sneaking up behind jim down pat Just harvey and jim doing gotham cop stuff. No dumb romance drama thrown in (as of yet) ra's lurking and being a creeper Cons: Jim being jim. Classic jim. You've got to wise-up, lad. The bad guy group involved with the jon crane stuff. Meh. So pointless. The guy reminded me of a cheap steve buscemi knockoff The license plot-line was kinda weak, but it didn't bug me too much
  22. Congrats on the emmy! Well deserved!
  23. I am also not here for Nick giving Edgar a hard time. I don't know what his problem with Edgar is. Heck, the strings edgar first pulled up were ones Sig set, not him. Still haven't forgiven Nick on what he pulled with Edgar last time. Jake made it through an episode without angrily shrieking. Good job, Jake. Maybe he's gonna finally start to mellow out. Maybe. Wasn't expecting Edgar to shed some tears, but it makes sense because this past year/2 yrs. have been pretty rough. And Sig told him a good job. Johnathan, oh gosh, stay safe. That's quite the retirement you're living.
  24. Well, I cried. Sorry for their loss :(. Sig tapped out, the two new guys on Jake's deck tapped out. Understandable. Definitely a depressing episode. Did we even see Wild Bill finish his season? I can't remember watching him wrap up his season. Same with Sean. Discovery, if you're reading this, please pull the plug on this show. Johnathan's retired, Jake just had his new deckhands tap out, Sig tapped out. Just be done. Yeah it'd be a depressing finale (?is this even the finale?) of sorts but it needs to happen. Lots of episodes I could have skipped because nothing happened in them. I'm not asking for drama, because i know it's basically up in the air on what's gonna happen when they're out there fishing (and i'd rather see them all safe, too), but in terms of tv content...I was ready to tap out of this show by episode 10. Quite a few of the episodes could have been condensed, imo. Either pull the plug or chop the number of episodes in half please. Down to 12-15 at most. This season made me weary. I'm ready to be done. I feel tired...just like all the captains and most of the deckhands. :/
  25. Congrats on a good final season, Johnathan! Enjoy your retirement! I'll miss our mama oppossum. Still can't believe we apparently have another episode after this. Blah.
