  1. Tina is totally the first person I'd call if I ever needed a peeing cat-monkey.
  2. This show has me pondering such things as: If I were stuck in the horrible situation of being fed my own leg, would I be at least a little curious about what I taste like? How sustainable would being a cannibal be, particularly given the amount of organ meat Hannibal eats? Given all the chemical laden processed foods, pollution, medications, smoking, drinking, drug use etc....seems like eating a lot of people could be bad for your health. This episode also made me think of that episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets turned into a donut and can't quit eating himself because he is so tasty.
  3. Hairdresser I could see in a sci fi world where pretty much every job that can be done by robots is. Photographer was tricky. Drones are becoming very common in present day for some types of photography & videography, but a flying robot that makes sense as a photography robot would be tough when you have to put it on a human model. An interesting approach might be to gear it towards situations where human photography would be dangerous or difficult.....combat, burning buildings, space, disaster scenes, underwater etc
  4. I agree about the worm hole speculation, but I suspect we can blame sci fi tv & movies for that bit. I think it was mostly included because it's a concept much beloved in popular entertainment. Hopefully, the show will get a better feel for what works and what doesn't and settle into itself as it goes along.
  5. Bandzilla has managed to drown out just about everyone other than Caleb at some point this season and they've made some noticeable blunders as well. I had high hopes for CJ in the beginning as well, but he really needs a good voice coach to help him with his consistent pitch problems. He has an interesting voice and good connection to his material, but none of that matters (unless you're Keith urban) if you sing out of tune constantly.
  6. My wish for season 2 would be a time machine so I could go back and prevent season 1 from happening.
  7. I'd have a much more positive view of Sam's sad chipmunk reveal if it had occurred say in response to the dog pile on Natalia rather than in response to the last challenge before the finale. Reeked of manipulation and it's been done so many times on PR now. I didn't really like anyone's work this week. I liked Oscar's cloak, but not the shiny backless pantsuit under it. It at least did evoke super hero, which none of the others did. Everything else was pretty meh. Asha should have gone home, but at least she didn't do another bare midriff.
  8. I thought that was a nice and rare moment of likability for Aslaug and those kids are adorable.
  9. I like Jessica. Yes she has the same sort of goat bleat vibrato that Stevie Nicks, Shakira and Belinda Carlisle have that isn't going to appeal to everyone, but I think she uses it to good affect more often than not.
  10. Alex does make unattractive faces and not digging that weird marching thing either, but I think his technical skills are probably tops in this group. His style is a bit too affected and whiny sounding for me at times, but he's got chops. I'd probably put him at #4 in my personal top ten.
  11. I knew the save had been used before I watched the show, so while I was relieved that they didn't use it on CJ, who can not sing on pitch to save his life, I was still kind of irked they used it on Sam. He had a good week, perhaps his best week and still landed in the bottom, where he has already been several times. Just let him go. Malaya was the only one of that three I thought was worth saving. I like Malaya's voice when she doesn't screech, but end up fast forwarding through her songs a lot because I find them boring. I thought she sang the portion of the boring song I didn't skip over well this week and could avoid future B3s with better song choices, whereas barring a major breakthrough, I see Sam & CJ right back in the bottom. Sam is bland city. CJ emotes well, but his pitch is usually painfully off.
  12. I liked him in the audition phase, but I didn't think he had a single good performance on the live shows, so I really don't care who he's related to. He got eliminated when he should have.
  13. My thought was, you have $400,000 and you live in Nashville, quit sulking and go hire a band if you wanna play that badly. Other than the Zoe stuff and the cheesy Scarlett freak out I thought it was a good ep, though even the cheese had entertainment value and Scarlett's singing was lovely. I'm on board with Zoe buying a one way ticket to LA. Her part of the ep was the only part without at least something entertaining about it. I think Luke definitely leaked the video, but I'm not sure if it was deacon or Rayna he was targeting.
  14. Not only is the vegetation immune to the fart cloud, but apparently, so is Adam's clothing. As soon as Clara appeared behind Wells I was like, uh oh, she's about to go all Lizzie on yer ass Wells. This show is definitely going to require a lot of suspension of disbelief.
  15. Except Sarah was wrong. Tony did have a HII as Kass feared, so if Sarah hadn't insisted on getting her way and gone with the original plan to vote Jefra, Sarah would still be in the game and both idols would be flushed. Sarah played a terrible game. However, so did Kass. She was right about Tony having an idol and Sarah's stubbornness could very well have cost her alliance a member. However, once Tony decided to reveal the idol & it became clear the vote was switched to Jefra, Kass should have put aside her butthurt and voted Jefra, maintaining a top 3 spot with brainy instead of #6 on brawny. Kass made a lot of mistakes. She told the #6 person they were #6 essentially. She got all offended because people didn't agree with her and failed to recognize that their deference to Sarah was to win her vote, not some personal vendetta against Kass. Sarah just plain overplayed her hand and her judgement was poor in insisting Tony did not have an idol. Trish and Tasha played a surprisingly good game. Trish in perfectly reading Kass and Tasha in playing Sarah just right, however her failure to recognize how insecure Kass was, was her downfall. Even though I think Kass made a bad move, I was thrilled she did it. It keeps the game more interesting and both Sarah & Kass end up paying for their poor gameplay (probably.) Plus, I get a vaguely douchey vibe from Spencer, leaving no one I really want to see win in that alliance, except maybe Tasha if she continues her upward trajectory. I hate people who sulk when they don't get their way like Spencer did. Un an unrelated note, I laughed out loud at the Morgan/Tasha boob squash shot during the yoga routine.
  16. Not gonna end well Alana. Just ask Debra Morgan.
  17. I liked Darren Criss when they first put him on the show, but he was much better in small doses. Once they put him front and center I started disliking him pretty fast. It didn't help that once they moved Kurt & Rachel to NY, and the rest of the old cast off screen, he was often sharing the screen with other actors that I don't like that well. However, he will always have a soft place in my heart for introducing me to A Very Potter Musical. He wasn't very good in it, but I loved Voldemort & Malfoy.
  18. I think the majority of AHS' success is owed to the cast, which is something RM failed to realize with Glee. The bad writing put the show on shaky footing, but the idiotic power play tactics that resulted in the feckless new new directions/NY split storyline put the nail in the coffin. AHS having a new setting & characters while recycling fan favorites from the cast is perfect for RM's ADD, though the writing still manages to be scattered. At least they don't have to maintain continuity from one season to the next.
  19. I like Dany and there's stuff that I don't think has been on the show yet that tempers the mighty whitey aspect of her story a bit, though whether the show can present it without boring us to death remains to be seen.
  20. I wouldn't say I know of any organized anti-evolution movements that aren't religion based, but I know plenty of people, mostly with limited educational background, who think evolution just sounds silly and therefore the church's explanation is equally viable. Usually their explanation for their belief is that, "no one really knows how we got here." They don't understand how science works and view the claims of science as opinions, no more valid than their own. And yes, I've heard the "maybe aliens put us here" idea from this group.
  21. I have found Sansa to be an incredibly frustrating character in the books, but like her much better on the show. Part of that may be that the actress is very striking and part is that because the story is compressed for time, some of the less interesting/more annoying stuff that seemed to go on forever in the books got cut.
  22. Agree that Roose is far more interesting than Ramsey. To some extent I think Ramsey only exists to provide Theon a story arc and is one of the most one -dimensional characters on the show. Roose is more like Tywin. He's a real nasty piece of work at times, but he's not just a psycho or a run of the mill villian.
  23. There are people who don't buy into evolution for reasons other than religion, the religious aspect is just more in the forefront because of high profile cases of creationists demanding, and in some cases succeeding, in having creationism taught as "science" in public schools. The recent shift of the republican party towards evangelical versions of Christianity has also put it in the news. The religion based arguments generally center around factions who believe the Bible is the literal word of God and thus insist evolution can't be right because it doesn't jive with the biblical account. Religious factions that view scripture as more of set of guidelines and interpret them in non-literal fashion are generally more open to the co-existence of faith and science. Many people who don't believe in evolution, whether religious or not, don't have a very good understanding of what it actually is. These are the people who say things like, "I ain't descended from no monkey," or "it's just a theory." For this group, I think the show presenting a basic explanation of how the scientific method works, what a theory actually is and doing stuff like that segment on how our eyes developed could be really useful, if they are open to it.
  24. True, but Norma ain't exactly right herself......
