Bi was such a waste of space. A recruit and a quitter. Would much rather see someone out there who gives a damn about being there. Everyone's body is important to their lives, especially their knees. I see nothing special about her. Oh, well. At least she's gone.

A Jinx in Beverley Hills: Robert Durst
azshadowwalker replied to starri's topic in True Crime: Beyond The Show
I live in Tucson a couple of miles from where Isabel Celis was abducted from her family home and murdered. I never believed her father hurt her, and I wanted to disprove some claims made by know nothings on the Internet. So, I drove through the alley in the strip mall by her house and down the streets in front and on the side of her house. It felt wrong, but I satisfied myself that I was right. And the indictment of her killer last month proved it. -
Except they don't care about "brute strength" when it's some dude who gets kept around. They kept fucking Donathan because "we might need someone light to lift in some challenge." It's just assholes being assholes, and Christian is a self-satisfied asshole.

American Gothic (1995): All Episodes Talk
azshadowwalker replied to Meredith Quill's topic in American Gothic (2016) [V]
I briefly watched this when it first came out. Just found it on Hulu today and decided to watch the whole thing. Was kind of irritated that this thread is hiding in the forum of a completely unrelated show. Cole is such an overwhelming evil. I am not sure if the world was ready for a villain like him to be the main focus of a TV show, though. -
This is my problem with Survivor these days. It's that we don't get to learn who these real people are. Instead, we get characters. Save a very few cases, I am prone to liking people that editing tells me to hate and disliking the Great Guys. Wanting to get to know these people is why I had zero problems with the group talking about their backgrounds. I mean, they're stuck in that tiny space in a downpour. That's exactly the opportunity to share stories and get to know each other as human beings. People say they want to get to know the cast, then complain if that actually happens. And, no, not everyone's life is petit bourg banality. A lot of people, especially those from working class or immigrant backgrounds, have been through shit. I have zero problems with them talking about it, because that's what makes people who they are. Thoss aren't "sob stories." They're real fucking life for a lot of people in this world.

My problem with this is that his idea of "compelling" sucks. I don't find either Rob or Cochran compelling. There are plenty of compelling winners out there. He just does a shitty job of recognizing them.

Loved the premiere. I don't dislike anyone, tbh. I wasn't looking for reasons to dislike them, though. I am just fine with liking everyone in the cast. I thought Mike was a bit too anxious for the "experience," which may be his undoing. I don't hate people developing crushes on fellow Survivors, but that's probably a bad idea, game-wise, too. The biggest problem I have with the season is that so many people don't understand that "David vs Goliath" isn't "Brawn vs Brains" or "Jocks vs Nerds" or any of those easy explanations. It's more about "Obstacles vs Privileges." Even though it's not strictly accurate, I view it as closer to "Blue Collar Background vs White Collar Background." Growing up working class and rural, I relate to that. When I went to college as the first person in my family to attend a university, I had challenges that my white collar friends just didn't. Everyone worked hard, but those from my background struggled far more, both financially and socially, which made academic success more difficult. It matters.

It's not about being physically imposing. This isn't Brains vs Brawn. It's more Blue Collar vs White Collar. Underdogs vs Privileged. People who have been in control or had easy success vs people who have struggled to get where they are. It's been pretty clear in all the media.

I skipped last season because of the theme. I am tired of twists and idols, and that was the core of the season. I am going to check this one out, though.

Very good advice. It doesn't surprise me that a young woman would get that kind of hatred for just existing. I have blocked people in more than a few places because of the absolutely disgusting bile spewed at young female players. It's not just jealousy. It's something much deeper and systemic about how women in the public eye are treated.

Compare & Contrast: CZ vs Other Anthology Shows
azshadowwalker replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Channel Zero [V]
Thought I would make use of this thread. I watched the first season of American Horror Story, then got bored. It just tried to be too "naughty" and got tiresome. I just watched the first season of Castle Rock. I admit that I liked it quite a bit, even with some things left hanging. Still, I think this is my favorite of the new horror/suspense anthologies. It's creepier than Castle Rock. It's less self-conscious than AHS. I think the stories are just stronger and more thought out. -
I was. That's too bad. I would like to have seen them at least wrap up the story with one more season.

I have no problem with unresolved cases. As someone who has had the murders of two friends go unsolved for almost two decades, it's more common than the tidy stories that most of the shows do over and over. The very reason for putting unsolved cases on is to try to get information to solve them by putting them in front of a big audience. If people don't talk about unsolved cases, they remain unsolved. That's a bigger problem to me.

Nope. Didn't even remember it was on. I just can't. I will be back next season, because I enjoy talking to you all and this is my favorite show. I'm just so over the bullshit. The thing is that I see a lot of people on Twitter who seem to enjoy the fake conflict. I don't know about Cleen, but I know that Christian likes to engage in trash talk on social media. I think it's just to promote the show, though. There was a lot of banter during last season. I believe that he (or both of them) was told to engage in it to get people hyped. It didn't work on me, if that was the intention.

I don't think I can do this one. So tired of fucking Cleen. Getting tired of Christian, although I don't actively dislike him. Enough!

Tomorrow, you can look at this one. https://unsolved.com haha

Harvey McCloud was the cabbie. Here you go. http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Harvey_McCloud

There's an old Unsolved Mysteries about a cabbie who was fitted with a bomb and forced to rob a bank. Weird that it happened again.

Young women really get to me, because they usually die at the hands of a man who claims to love them. My friend who died during a BDSM "scene" was like that. She was a lonely girl who was treated horribly because she was very overweight. She was desperate for love. She met this creep who claimed to love her even though he was married. He convinced her to let him abuse her during sex. One night, he tied her up, put a plastic bag over her head and watched her die. She was 27. He was only convicted of second degree murder. My other two female friends who were murdered went unsolved, but I know who killed one of them. She supported her cocaine habit via prostitution. She traded this dealer sex for drugs. One night, he used her to set someone up to be robbed. He didn't tell her his plans, but asked her to call a friend who often had money to see if he wanted drugs. When this other guy agreed to come over, this john/dealer tied her up and threw her in a closet. He and his friends then beat and robbed the guy. I wasn't hanging out with her, because I didn't want to be around her lifestyle, but she would call and talk to me on occasion. After the robbery, she was terrified. She was moving out of her apartment to hide from them. She asked me to bring her a telephone cord so she could call for help if needed. When I took her the cord, she told me that she had agreed to let these guys come over that night to try to work it out. I left. The next day, I was watching the 2000 Summer Olympics. A news break came on. Her body was being wheeled out of her apartment in a body bag. Her brother was screaming and crying in the parking lot. She had been shot sometime after I left the previous night. Her body was left for her sons, ages 5 and 14, to find. I never heard from the police. Her brother knew who her associates were, and her family knew why she was running. If they weren't going to tell the cops, I sure wasn't going to risk my family to do so. These guys had already shot a woman--a woman whom one of them regularly had sex with--while her children were sleeping in the next room. I don't think they were ever arrested. At least, I never saw it reported in the news. I hope street justice found them if the cops didn't.

I have had several friends murdered, primarily because of their involvement in drugs and/or prostitution. One murdered due to involvement in BDSM practices. A couple of people shot to death by the cops. Various family members missing over the years.

They're having a press conference tomorrow, I believe. So, it definitely wasn't in time for ID to do anything about an afterword.

This is likely the case. Arrest just made this Sunday. Eight-year-old April Tinsley. Abducted, raped and murdered in 1988.

Someone should send this to Cleen.

I like the pre-Barnabas episodes. I liked the conflict between Liz, Roger and Burke. I liked Matthew. It was much more gothic, less supernatural and monster movie. That was compelling to me, because I liked gothic novels at one time.

Lots of excuses for the shitty behavior of men. Like I said, I don't buy it. Shitty men are shitty men, no matter what excuses their society gives them. There is a reason that women started to fight back against this kind of behavior. It was always wrong. If they just threw their hands up and made excuses, nothing would ever change.
