  1. Selasi wasn’t quite as thirsty as Sandro. But, it was a different time too.
  2. I loved how Janine got Mr. Johnson a bust since he was once a nude model. And he was thrilled by it. The kids aren’t the only ones celebrating two weeks with no school. I’m just sayin’. 😀
  3. Another episode that is on point about education. The sub shortage is real. At my school, classes without subs get split among the grade level. I’ve had extra kids in my room at least once a week. I do like the character growth they’re showing with Ava. It’s small, but I like it.
  4. I don’t know if I can watch a show where Ava is the voice of reason. 🤣🤣
  5. Sandra’s face when he realized how to cut the mousses. “Semicircles”. 😵‍💫
  6. Knowing how the showrunners feel about public Ed, I have a huge amount of faith that they will show how Abbott succeeds and thrives. And I will be cheering them on.
  7. Of course Gregory would know her favorite movie. Once again, this show’s defense of public schools is on full display. My heart is happy. ❤️❤️
  8. I loved this episode. I mean, it was pretty unrealistic, but I still loved it. The kid dressed up as Mr. Johnson? and Mr. Johnson telling him he better #@&! lawyer up? Perfection. Ava actually supervising kids? And then helping Janine with her costume? Great And everyone not knowing Gregory’s costume while guessing Jacob’s was nice too. I loved Mrs. Howard as the ABC bee. And her church shows Hocus Pocus “without Sarah Jessica Parker”. 😂🤣 I think I liked that this was special ep, but it still kept the characters who they are. Janine is still full of anxiety and trying to fit in. (And I hope she has FUN at that party). It just all worked for me.
  9. Carole, if you know you need boiling water, and you know your water isn’t boiling, why don’t you fix it? Also, I know this might be blasphemous, but Janusz’s last two showstoppers have looked almost identical. I love you Janusz, but variety is good too.
  10. They did churros as a showstopper in the season Candice won. (My daughter and I are rewatching it on Roku. Selasi is still adorable. 😀)
  11. It’s Mexican week. They were always going to go for tortillas. (Just like in Italian week, they went for pizza.). This show (Paul and Prue) isn’t very creative when it’s outside of British/French cuisine. I can’t complain too much about the mispronunciation, especially in the technical. I’m sure there are terms I mispronounce when I’m at a Mexican restaurant. (Sometimes, I just point rather than massacring a language. 😀) I think what was really bad were the extremely cringey and offensive jokes.
  12. “Is he using a cereal mascot as a symbol of racial discrimination?” ”Yes” ”Ok” I love this show so, so much. I can’t wait to see how the aide works with Melissa. 😀
  13. They aren’t flip flops. I think she looks really nice. Looks like the baby train hasn’t started up again, either.
  14. I suspect some of their inspiration for the charter school may have been the Ron Clark Academy.
  15. Loved this episode even more than the last one. I’ve taught in low income schools (though not inner city), and it shocks people when I tell them how much I spend just to make sure my kids have the supplies they need. (I second Donors Choose! It’s a fantastic site. If you Twitter, searching #clearthelist pulls up tons of teachers with Amazon wish lists for their classrooms too.) I really like the character growth we’ve seen from Ava. While she’s still insanely over the top, there are moments where she understands how important it is to make sure the kids feel loved and appreciated. And Janelle James plays her perfectly.
  16. In the Midwest, lots of starter homes are mobile homes. Depending on how they’re set, sometimes you can’t tell the difference between them and a house built on site. Inside, they look just like a stick built home.
  17. I can never figure out where any of these people are getting their money.
  18. Does she buy them at consignment sales? I have friends who buy tons of stuff at a big consignment sale near me and then sell them the next year (while buying a whole new haul).
  19. Because he’s at a low income school, after five years, he qualifies for $5K of loan forgiveness. (Which is a drop in the bucket, but every little bit helps.)
  20. Loved Barbara’s advice to Gregory about the curriculum because it’s so true. It’s an impossible job, but you just come every day and do your best. I love how well this show just GETS what teaching is. Loved Gregory going to the storage and finding the desk. He’s, honestly, my favorite character. Such a good heart hidden behind that reserved facade.
  21. I am so excited for Abbott Elementary! It is the absolute BEST show about teaching I’ve ever seen!!
  22. My mom made it for us growing up, and I’m from Northern Indiana. She just used cream of mushroom soup. When you’re a kid, it’s not bad. Ground beef, C of M soup, cheese, and tater tots.
  23. I feel like the birthing couch had a role to play both at the beginning and end of the baby making process. 😂
  24. Is she going to find anyone? I mean, I’d think long and hard before marrying someone whose dad is a sex offender. Someday, your kids will be around him.
