S44.E01: Adam Driver / Kanye West
ajsnaves replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
Just a note, this is S44 not S43. (Unless we're going back in time. If we are though, can we go back a bit further?) I have mixed feelings about Adam Driver, but it will be nice to be live again. -
I loved Stephanie Beatriz being all bubbly, and the comment that she is NOTHING like her character. “Acting”. And I am sorry, but “...Title of your sex tape” will never get old for me. It may have even come back around to even funnier all these years later. All in all, the fact that they are pushing the show, even when it won’t be on until next year warms my cynical little heart. And at least I will have The Good Place until then., which is forking awesome. As too Amy Pohler’s show, I will give it a chance. I did not laugh during the preview, but it is only the pilot, and I trust Amy. And if it doesn’t work, I have too many shows anyway. Especially on Thursday.

So I decided to look at the Emmy rules on submitting entries. I wanted to see if there was a limit on the number of people a show can enter for particular categories. From the looks of it, it is the individual performer's job to submit their entries, not the shows'. Shows will do mass submissions of their performers, but it still counted as entered by the individual. I would not be surprised if they went to clear the entry with Tiffany in April, and found out her management had already entered her episode. Frankly that makes much more sense than them not submitting one of their best performers from last season. What I find interesting now though is Tina Fey's and Donald Glover's entries. You had to have your entry in by April 27th, even if your episode wasn't completed yet. So they were preemptivly submitted.

The answer for the Sesame Street question is obviously "Fist Me Elmo." See because they're puppets, and you stick your... I'll just let myself out.

The $100,000 Pyramid - General Discussion

I also would not be surprised if he has seen the answers before, so he has some time to think of clues. Either way, he does a good job at managing the craziness, and tempering the disappointment when things don’t work out. I wonder how he would do on shows where the host is more involved with the game play, like Jeopardy or Family Feud. -
In tonight's episode, which was much better when watched without the sound, Kevin Hart said that you are not allowed to just jump in. If they think you're cheating, they'll add a 5 minute penalty. When I FF through all the set up, this was not so bad a show. And only about 26 min long.

The $100,000 Pyramid - General Discussion

Would “Home after curfew” work? I think “R-Rated Movie” would have been acceptable. I was surprised by the Kathy Najimy’s dismial performance, but I think it truly was a situational thing, not an indication of her intelligence. The level of difficulty of the Pyramid rounds between the episodes was stark. It makes me wonder if they used harder ones for Yvette Nicole Brown and Kathy Najimy since they were expected to be so good. (And by and large that was a more enjoyable episode because of it.). I love Gary Cole, but he did about as well as I expected, which was good enough for his contestant I guess. (I have no thoughts either way about Vanessa WIlliams, so I can’t really judge her) -

According to my Xfinity OnDemand, the second season is available until Aug. 27th, I would not be surprised if it appears on Netflix (US) on or about Aug. 28th. -
I just checked to see if I was remembering. Constance did not actually write "Tequila". She commented that it was her drink of choice (for her baby?), but she wrote "Liquor." If she had said tequila, and they took it, then yes, that is cheap match, but it would not have surprised me. I kinda wanted the mermaid guy (Merman?) to win, just to see him hop out there in his tail. But I am mostly glad he lost, because he was just a bit too much.

Book spoilers In spite of all its flaws, I am still enjoying this show, and look forward to next season. I think that speaks to the power of Alan Cumming has over me. The criminal defense attorney in me is glad they are addressing the fact that not everything Dylan does is in the investigations is kosher, and that that there could be consequences for that.

Listening to this weeks episode of The Good Place The Podcast, I think Mark Evan Jackson sums my feeling up nicely. “This is the strangest show on television. I love it so much.” I can’t think of a better description or review.
-
In the end, I think my brother summed it up perfectly. "Everyone lives. No one is happy." Which I think is the best you can expect in a situation like this. The only person I feel bad for I the one true innocent in this all. Henry. So we decided that he will have a long and successful hockey career. May he score many goals on the Russian Team. And that garage scene was everything for me. I think I held my breath the whole time. But it did give me my biggest laugh of the episode, maybe the whole series with Philip's "By the way, your wife may be a spy. Not really sure. Toodles."
-
If there is one thing we have learned about the espionage business, it is always best to dress in layers. Good thing Phillip remembered that. Clearly spying is NOT a summer time activity then.

Roseanne Alphabet Game: That was my joke guess!

R is for Renuzit. Which is what Roseanne was going to buy for Darlene's bathroom. -
Oxygen. It would be to long to put the whole word on the side of the tank. What was the topic of the project Becky and Dana were supposed to be working on before the made the tornados?
-
Wasn't it something like "The stick up her butt, has a stick up its butt"? If so: In Lies My Father Told Me, according to David and Darlene, what color is the sound of a dog barking?
-
Fuzzy Pink Slippers. In that same episode, how did Jackie describe Dan's gift to Roseanne?
-
To keep going, in My Name is Bev, what did Bev bring to the Super Bowl party?
-
Season 6, Episode 16: Everyone Comes to Jackie's It appears we have found a continuity error.
-
Cubs season tickets. According to Charlotte, what did Molly wear to the Daisy Chainsaw concert with Darlene?

N is for The Nutcracker, for which Bev had a surprise ticket for Darlene.
