  1. I guess they're quitting while they're ahead. I hate to see them go. I hope Cig is one of the returning contestants. And Tate. And I'd like to see the young woman who had been a cake decorator but won. I'm sure I'll recall her name as soon as I hit Enter.
  2. Didn't Peggy say at the beginning that she's a pharmacist? Her personality seemed completely at odds with a profession like that. I thought she was cute and very likable but also ditzy. I would find it hard to cope with a fluttery pack rat. I thought the finished rooms looked great but, like everyone above, I didn't understand the big table in the center of the room for the reasons already stated. That will quickly become a dumping ground for mail and everything else she doesn't deal with immediately. I'd guess that it's already piled with stuff. I missed the deal with the recess in the shower. Why did a crew working for a TV show do something without consulting the designers? The same thing happened a couple episodes ago with the Italian couple who added a bathroom renovation. I'm inclined to think those are made for TV problems.
  3. I remember the name Judson but I can't remember anything about him. A heart attack at 36 y/o is just awful.
  4. What was this big fight about? I don't watch The Chew any more so I have no idea and am curious.
  5. I liked Chef Gomes but David LeFevre was my favorite from the start so I was delighted that he was victorious. I thought his dishes looked better overall and he seemed a lot more serious about wanting the title than she did. I'll be holding my breath next week.
  6. I'm sorry to read the above about Jose Garces. I've always liked him. I wonder how he let things get so out of control. Sad.

    Chopped 2018

I don't know the number of the new season - in the neighborhood of 2700 maybe if I remember what I saw on the FN listing yesterday. There was a new episode on last night at 9 Central. You can tell that a show is new because, for the first time, one of the judges is now walking into the cooking area and talking to the chefs while they work a la BBF. I hate that.
  8. I picked up on that when the kids introduced themselves during the first episode and mentioned it on the thread for the season. We had some discussion about it because it didn't seem right that an employee's kid was on the show. She ended up being eliminated early on so it never became a big issue.
  9. Peggy, the girl who won, was on the kids' baking show two or three seasons ago. She was a delightful little girl then and seemed just the same only older. I was happy to see her again. I totally agree about Melissa and Catherine.
  10. That sums it up quite well. :) I don't think there was any point other than having an amusing activity/sight gags.
  11. Everyone on this season, including Anne and Tyler, has been rather funny - except the comedienne. I was hoping she'd get sent home this episode because I'm really sick of her. I like everyone else although what Catherine has done to her face makes her hard to look at. Nolan seemed like a very nice kid. I was sorry to see him go. I liked the charades game. That would be fun to do in real life.
  12. I liked both rooms but I did wonder what they did with the piano. That isn't the kind of thing you can just find a corner for in another room or stick in the garage. I also wondered what the point was of having Frank there. He didn't seem to serve any purpose at all and the bit with the champagne was odd. I think the homeowners are told what they should pick at the pop up store. Every one of them so far has decided on just the right accent item without doing any "shopping" at all. Most if not all people would walk around and look at the selection before making a decision. One of the women tonight chose just the right throw in just the right colors from across the room with barely a glance at the rest of the stuff. I liked both couples so I was glad they were happy with their rooms.
  13. I occasionally think something has been dubbed in, especially Akbar's "crazy healthy run of the night," but I think most of it is concurrent with the action. Usually there is a level of excitement in their voices that I don't think can be faked. Isaac is clearly a good athlete but I just don't like him. He always looks like he isn't acquainted with personal hygiene and I'll never forgive him for beating out Geoff Britten whom I liked very much.
  14. I was surprised to see Fabio. I've always liked him and, from things I've read about him, I gather that he's one of the hardest working people in the restaurant business so I respect him for that. I hadn't seen him since he was on Cutthroat Kitchen a few years ago and thought he looked a lot older although I'm sure I do too so I don't know why that surprised me. He and Bobby both put ricotta on top of their spaghetti. I've never heard of that but I'm not Italian so maybe it's a thing I don't know about. I'm finding it harder and harder to tune out Sunny Anderson. I don't understand why FN PTB don't get that her obnoxious, attention-seeking behaviors aren't amusing.
  15. I like Nacho a lot so I won't hate it if he wins but I really think Caleb has been the best of the bunch all along. I will hate it if the girl with blue hair pulls it out. I still miss Bobby Deen as host but I don't mind Ali at all. I don't get the Cooking Channel so I've never seen him do anything but this show and had no preconceived opinion when it started. He seems to be having fun with it. I like him a lot better than Jesse.

    The Judges

I'm not sure how I feel about Martha Stewart as a judge. I guess I'll just wait to see if she acts like one of the gang or the Queen of Sheba. I am willing to bet that she and Alex will loathe one another if they don't already.
  17. I like La Toya. She must be in her 60s by now and she's still cute. She's had a rough life and she's had the gumption and smarts to reinvent herself more than once. I hope she does well. I'm getting a kick out of the red headed kid. He has a good sense of humor and seems to be holding his own among all the others who are a lot older and who have been "celebrities" a lot longer. I'm so glad FN brought Tyler back to this show. He and Anne are good together and he cracks me up with his reactions. So far this is the best season of WC IMO. I mean the best season of the celebrity edition.
  18. I thought Mike was really creepy looking. I couldn't decide if he was wearing black eyeliner or just looked like that and I hate black nail polish. He did seem like a nice guy though. Tamra also was wearing nail polish, all different colors, and I also hate to see it during cooking.
  19. That was bugging me too. I couldn't spot any place on the exterior where the roof line was higher than than a regular ranch house roof. I really like Nate and Jeremiah. They always seem so sincere and I don't think it's a big act. I'd trust them to design something for me because I like what they do and because I know they'd take my wishes into consideration unlike some of the gang on Trading Spaces. The fire pole was weird but kind of neat. However, I'd be nervous about having young kids up there with that big hole in the floor.
  20. I think they're trying too hard this time around to make interesting TV. The teams, carpenters and designers have less than 48 hours to get everything done so it makes little sense for them to be doing goofy stuff like the scene in the school bus. What was a school bus doing there anyway? Probably to transport all the crew members who actually did most of the work. And why was Gen in the kitchen making lunch instead of calling Subway or Domino's and using the time to be helpful? I liked both rooms with a few reservations. Unlike most people apparently, I didn't like the giant photos in Vern's room. That kind of thing always looks narcissistic to me even though I realize the couple didn't make that decision. I also didn't like the industrial look of the dresser handles with that furniture. In Gen's room, I thought the alcove ended up being wasted space - nice to look at but not really functional. If I were doing that area for myself, I'd have floor to ceiling bookshelves and a pleasant place to read and a small computer desk. Paige makes me nuts. I don't know how anyone can stand being around her for more than a few minutes.
  21. ^^^^^ That's why they're the perfect team for the job. They know all the ninjas and they really get into the competition. They don't fake it.
  22. I was thinking Chopped but I wasn't sure. So he's an actual working chef and should be able to cook - not that that's the primary criterion for FNS. :)
  23. Christian Petroni. I know that name but I can't think why. I'm glad Yaku is getting another chance.
  24. Caleb seems to be the best all around and I got a kick out of his cactus men. I like him so I try to overlook his silly hipster mustache. I don't remember Ali saying their succulent cakes had to be elegant so I don't think Nacho should have been dinged for his cake being playful although there were other things that deserved criticism. I thought Aaron would be a finalist and I was very sorry to see him go.
  25. The absence of information just tells me that it's a made up name. I know it's an opinion on my part but I hate it when parents give kids bizarre names they'll have to live with forever.
