  1. And personally I would feel better about eating the hare that may have died an unexpected and quick death and didn't die in terror and agony like the animals in American slaughter houses. Believe me you don't want to die like the cow who has become the neat and vacuum-packed pieces of ground beef...
  2. This was so enjoyable. I have liked all these people so much and they are all so talented. I wish this show was on every week. There is a special alchemy to this show and there is nothing like it on American TV anywhere.
  3. The funny thing is when I was watching the original series as a teenager in the Eighties (which was years after its first run I guess) I was watching mostly for the women characters - Demelza, who I adored, she was my heroine, Caroline, who I liked a lot. Heck, I never even hated Elizabeth, I pitied her and felt bad for her. The male characters, I just think they are weaker than the female ones. I thought Ross was a self-righteous moron obsessed with honor who didn't realize a good thing when he had it. And his pining for Elizabeth was bizarre to me because they were clearly all wrong for each other. With the new series of course they have cast this hottie as Ross and he has legions of female fans - and that will of course color the way the character is portrayed and perceived.
  4. I have watched this entire season never really liking this family of criminals, I have watched them like you observe fascinating but repellent insects. But it did make me happy to see that J is a lot smarter than I thought, and that he got one over on that cop. I don't expect moral standards from criminals, but I do expect police to meet certain standards - given the power they have over the populace. And black-mailing and using this teenager is not my idea of how police ought to conduct themselves. That being said I am not rooting for Smurf and her "boys" to have a happy ending - and from the way J was looking at Smurf and Co - I don't think he is either. Smurf is holding a snake to her bosom there. I'll be watching the second season.
  5. Did Lawrence speak about this before? The only one who I have heard going after those two douche bags over their horrific hunting habits is Bill Maher. Isn't that vapid Barbie aka Ivanka a hunter too? I am surprised Lawrence doesn't go after her for various things.
  6. Wolf Blitzer has raised being obvious to an Olympic sport, gold medal level. He makes me twitch and mentally go "duh" way too often.
  7. I don't know whether I will be watching the second season. I do like Cassidy and Tulip, and sometimes Jesse. But the finale put into focus for me that this show and its makers have a pretentious nihilistic sensibility (and are cackling gleefully about it) - which I shared for about 5 minutes when I was in college - but I have long since grown out of that.
  8. I didn't care for Rachel last night and I usually like her very much. Whenever somebody starts ranting about the sexual morals of this particular president - where is the outrage over President Kennedy's busy penis? - my eyes roll and then glaze over. Maybe it's a cultural thing, I am European born and unless a politician harasses or rapes a woman or molests minors I can't be arsed to care about their sex lives. The Clintons obviously have an arrangement that works for them and that's their business. What I care about in an elected official is whether they are competent and are doing their job. Bill Clinton was very competent on the job as I recall.
  9. Silverman didn't say "you are ridiculous", she said "you are being ridiculous". There is a difference. I will admit it strikes me as peculiar to want Trump in power because you didn't get your way. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot for spite. I find Brian Williams repellent these days. And he always looks like he really wants to be somewhere else.
  10. I think this town is about to become "Hell". I became convinced of this when Emily served her sleazeball bf to Cassidy for lunch. That, and finally making sense of the whole gunslinger in ground hog day HELL story line. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the "God" in this universe is actually the devil. This would fit with the subversive tone of the series. Well, I liked Jesse for the first time in quite a while. Still liking Cassidy. And Tulip.
  11. I enjoy getting two episodes in a row, the only thing I don't like about it is that this makes the season shorter. But I want to see all the seasons of the show. I am feeling cheated by PBS that they are calling last year's episodes the "first season" and this year the second when Google tells me otherwise.
  12. Tonight KPBS San Diego aired "Bread" - in which the bakers had to make bread sculptures. And then "Dessert", they were making Creme Brule and cheese cakes. I have to say I am enjoying this season even more than last year. These guys are so talented.
  13. Beezlebub is out. Shame that he gets to leave with this much money.
  14. I have no idea what season I am watching now but I saw two new episodes to me with new contestants this past Sunday on KPBS San Diego airing in the 6 to 8 pm slot. In the first episode they had to bake Madeira cake and the person who I thought was the weakest was eliminated. In the second episode one of the things they had to do was to bake cookies and and make a decorated container for these out of ginger bread dough, etc.. It was very impressive. One of the contestants is a fireman by profession and he reminds me in looks a bit of Matthew Goode. He has been very solid and likable so far. They are all very talented.
  15. I laughed my head off about Melania Trump plagiarizing Michelle Obama. This is about all of this convention I can stand without throwing up so I am escaping to my pay channels.
  16. I am really conflicted about this episode. I like Cassidy and I love dogs. Poor dog. Still not liking Jesse.
  17. The original movie didn't make much impression on me but I will have to see this one just because of the laughable whining against it. Every day I wake up to more distressing world news and this movie gets the collective panties of the fan boys in a twist? Good grief. Wasn't there also a vocal group who poo-poo'd the last Mad Max movie for being "too female centric"? Why so afraid of the vagina?
  18. I would have found Thursday coughing up that bullet preposterous, but according to Google there are people who have done this in real life. Yikes, real life being stranger than fiction and all... I am glad Thursday made it alive through another season. Poor Morse, not only is his life in danger again he realizes he is in love with his mentor's daughter right before she leaves. He doesn't seem to have any luck in the romance department. I hope he finds love eventually. I am not a watcher of the older Morse series so I don't know.
  19. I lean towards believing her. I think it's highly likely that she was sexually harassed but put up with it because she was trying to hang on to her job. She wouldn't be the first woman who had to choose between her livelihood and her dignity. Then after she was fired she had nothing to lose and she could accuse him. Her former boss has a rep as a notorious slime ball and none of this surprises me at all.
  20. Yes, why do we have two separate threads? It's very confusing. I think it was - how clever of you to notice.
  21. That was definitely my favorite episode. Good grief, Jesse is an utter asshole, right from the beginning I liked him the least of the three main characters. And he certainly didn't endear himself to me last night. Poor Eugene!
  22. I love what they have done with their chief character. He has turned out to be completely against "type". Because of the actor's looks and how the chief came across in the early going of the series I had made certain assumptions about him, and they have all been proven completely wrong. He is a heroic man and supportive of his men. He even was sorry that he had to kill the animal.
  23. Maybe I am naive but I found this episode quite thrilling. And the tiger was gorgeous. And terrifying. My favorite episode yet. I was totally engrossed for the whole thing.
  24. When did you guys start to think that Weaver was not the bad guy/Skynet? For me it was when she wanted JH to be taught a moral code. This show had some flawed episodes but there was a lot of great stuff in it. One thing I really appreciated was how they handled the death of a certain main character - no dramatic TV music, no cheesy foreshadowing - just quick and matter of fact death. That was very un-TV show like.
  25. Even though Cersei is not too subtly now an eeevil! Disney queen - with added incest - I did appreciate her taking out the pious high sparrow. I loathed that fucker for every second he was on screen.
