I don't think it was a part of the game. They were just getting "hits" of delicious ham when they would go into the bathroom. Instead of slicing some off and putting it on the table with the rest of the snacks, they would get some when they felt the need. Also, it's kind of expensive ham, so maybe they didn't feel like sharing it until Oliver "achieved" and then he was worthy of having some. Although, it's still weird to hang a ham in your bathroom and not explain it to your guests. They were acting shady. (Red herring.)

I know the chances of this getting a second season are slim, but I wish we would. I'd love to see the rest of the story. I enjoyed this. It was different, edgy in many ways, and interesting. But I think the pace was tooooo slow to keep most viewers interested. The acting was great! I might have to track down the book the show is based on and see if I enjoy that.

I will rewatch again. 🤔 You may be right. I tend to think of them as the same, which is wrong of me. _________________________________________________________________ Presunto (Portuguese: [pɾɨˈzũtu]) is dry-cured ham from Portugal, similar to Italian prosciutto or Spanish jamón. Among the wide variety of presuntos in Portugal, the most famous are presunto from Chaves, produced in the north of Portugal, and that from the Alentejo, in the south, made from local Alentejano pigs.[citation needed] Several varieties of presunto are protected by European law with geographical indications.

Great episode. Really great! I jumped at Jan in the closet, I did not expect that! The ham in the bathroom was funny, and I thought it might have been illegally brought into the U.S., which is why it was in the bathroom? (Edited to add that upon my second viewing it is mentioned that the ham is from Spain, so now I think they hung it up in the bathroom because that's where they had space for it.) ibérico ham Cinco Jotas acorn-fed 100% ibérico ham is considered by many to be the most exclusive gourmet ham in the world. We offer two types of bone-in ham: the front leg, also called “shoulder ham” or paleta in Spanish, and the traditional back leg, referred to in Spanish simply as jamón . The Spanish Iberian jamón is the larger piece which tends to be quite moist, thick, soft in the middle and exceptionally aromatic. The anatomy of this piece generally allows for easier carving and larger slices. While both are sublime and delicious, the front leg cut is a smaller piece, riddled with a healthy inter/ intramuscular fat and adorned with an intense flavor. While the same quality as the back leg jamón, the price for this piece tends to be slightly less, so it's excellent value for the money. Ham cost is $1,499.00 ($ 103.50/lb) So I don't think Piggie Smalls was meant for the ham process, really, but maybe. Steve Martin and Jane Lynch were perfection in their scenes. It's going to be tough to wait for the next episode. Sick puppy = Oliver's Winnie? (I see that this was already mentioned by other posters in the episode 1 thread.)

S04.E01: Once Upon a Time in the West

I've rewatched this episode several times, still don't have a theory. It's tempting to think that maybe Sazz was wearing a bullet-proof vest, as she was investigating something dangerous, and was stunned by the impact. The blood could have been from where the bullet grazed her, somehow. If she thought she needed to disappear, though, how did the "not your f--n friend" person get her phone? Of course, it could be a clone of her phone. I guess. So, what I'm trying to say is, I don't know if Sazz is alive or dead and whatever I think will probably turn out not to be true. I always have far more complicated theories than the show does and am never right. Ha ha! Also still trying to find out who poisoned Oliver's dog, Winnie. Also, at the end of last season (and this season picks up right after that) Mabel was staying with Theo. I would assume that was still true, even though she crashed at Oliver's after the party. On a very shallow note, I covet Charles-Hayden's bedroom! -
Well, this was ONE of the BEST episodes of television I have ever seen. I hope it gets recognized for its exceptional storytelling. So much in one episode, and beautifully done. So Masa was trying to create a cure for loneliness? He almost succeeded. Emotions can be dangerous though. Loved that the song at the end was Dulcinea from Man from La Mancha. I have dreamed thee too long Never seen thee or touched thee but known thee with all of my heart Half a prayer, half a song Thou hast always been with me, though we have been always apart Dulcinea, Dulcinea I see heaven when I see thee, Dulcinea And thy name is like a prayer an angel whispers Dulcinea, Dulcinea If I reach out to thee Do not tremble and shrink from the touch of my hand on thy hair Let my fingers but see Thou art warm and alive and no phantom to fade in the air Dulcinea, Dulcinea I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea Now I've found thee, and the world shall know thy glory Dulcinea, Dulcinea Dulcinea, Dulcinea I see heaven when I see thee, Dulcinea And thy name is like a prayer an angel whispers Dulcinea, Dulcinea Dulcinea, Dulcinea I have sought thee, sung thee, dreamed thee, Dulcinea Now I've found thee, and the world shall know thy glory Dulcinea, Dulcinea

My thoughts exactly. When Charles called out "Sazz?" and then they went right back to looking at the desk, I was so frustrated! -

Apart from dropping only one episode, it was without ads, which I appreciated. I'm sure the rest won't be that way. The writer intrigues me, mostly because I've been impressed with the actor's performance in Pachinko. Jin Ha will be worth watching! -

Why only one episode to kick off the season? In the past it has been two. Enjoyed the whole episode, it's going to be tough to wait for the next. I have no speculations to make yet about who did it or why, but I am hooked! Loved that they closed Oliver's show. Nice reference to last season. I miss Cliff and Donna. -
This was my most favorite episode of this series. I loved Masu's backstory and the trash robot. I don't know what is happening at the end, with the dissolve, but can't wait for the next episode. I do wish, however, that I had started this when all of the episodes had dropped. The anticipation is killing me! Ha! Interesting theory, @Snazzy Daisy. I kind of hope Suzie is real, but I suppose this could all be a robot's fever dream.

This was a beautifully filmed series, but Pippa drove me crazy. I guess she was supposed to be seen as empowered, brave, and compelling, but to me, she came across as arrogant, reckless, and uncaring. The scene where Naomi comes to school after her father (Elliott) has been revealed to be a murderer, seems too easy. I doubt that she would be able to forgive Pippa so easily. And the dog died. Boo. Kind of expected it from the first episode where the dog is introduced. Also, I think it's a British thing to harm the dog/pet. Another British show I watched recently killed a character's dog, while he was in hiding and could hear it. Maybe Americans are too soft about their pets, but that scene bothers me still, and in both cases, there was no real need for it. I've not read the book, and I would probably watch another series, if only for the cinematography. 8/10

This show is adorable. I love the costumes, the place settings, and the humor. I kind of have to close my eyes when violence threatens, but it's quirky and mysterious enough that I'm very invested. Will Sunny turn rogue and kill them all? Are Masu and Zen still alive, or at least Zen? My heart breaks for Suzie when she relives her life with Zen. I can't imagine even functioning if I thought my kid had been lost in a plane crash. Is there one more or two more episodes?

Can't wait but no sign of my favorite, Theo! Of course, he was a closely guarded secret for last season too. Sigh. -

Loved it!!! I'm hooked on the story completely. And I love Vince Vaughn already, but the rest of the cast is pretty darn good. Looking forward to the next episode.- 13 replies

Best episode so far!

Okay, so who couldn't love the Earl of Sandwich? I enjoyed this episode a lot. I guess this isn't going over well, since there are not a lot of comments, but I find it very Monty Python-esc, and have really enjoyed Jermaine Clement and Taiki Waititi.
-
I feel that Noriko got herself arrested to protect herself, and maybe find some information too. Time will tell. I do not think the last three episodes were wasted. I'm enjoying the slow story-building. Not sure I would have gone out in the dark to find Sunny, even if I did want to impress Suzie. How many more episodes? Can't wait til the next one drops!

I'm enjoying this show. It's quirky, to be sure, but interesting in the way it is unfolding. I don't know if Mixxie is dangerous or just interested in Suzie, but the jealousy between Sunny and Mixxie is fun to watch. Questions I will watch to see answered: 1. Are Masa and Zen dead or alive, one or both? 2. Will Sunny turn homicidal? 3. What does Masa's mother know? 4. I want one of those ear clip translators and communicators. Hope questions will be resolved by show's end.

Because Kathy's no longer in charge, Drives her mad. I know women like that, can't say I'd enjoy living with them.
-
Coming here to say how much I dislike Cathy's out of control behavior. I really hope she has something seriously wrong with her, because she makes me want to slap her. I don't blame Geordie one bit for not wanting to deal with her in this state of unreasonableness. She doesn't want him to be reasonable, she wants him to support her side unequivocally. That's really unfair. And for god sakes, Cathy, tone down the red lip.

S01.E07: Chapter 7: Retreat
cardigirl replied to jenrising's topic in A Murder At The End Of The World
I don't know what's up with Forums on Primetimer, but I cannot access them from my usual computer. UGH. At any rate, I did enjoy this series for its atmosphere and for the combining of the two mysteries, what happened at the serial killer's house, and what happened at the retreat. I usually don't comment on appearances of actors, but the thinness of Darby drove me nuts. She was skeletal and I kept wanting her to eat SOMETHING. I think Emma Corrin is a fine actor, and enjoyed her in The Crown, but her thinness was such a distraction to me in this show. -
I just want Dot and Wayne and Scotty to end up together and safe. Not likely with this show m. 😔

Oh, me too! I was so happy to see her get that tea!

I thought this was very Disneyfied. It doesn't feel quite like Doctor Who, although I like the new Doctor. I was annoyed by some of Ruby's line delivery, but she's a cute thing, and shown to be brave, so I'll probably end up liking her too. I'm still waiting to be blown away by a Doctor's introduction like I was by "The Eleventh Hour."
