Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I don't when they will get married, but I think like Kendra, she's 18 now and will be 19 when she gets married. That seems to be par for the course now. Anna was 19 when she and Josh were courting and 20 when they got married. -
Cheryl is still named Charlotte Vandertunt. Didn't see the whole thing. Really I. V.?

Yes this is a hobby of mine too, but I'm amateur.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I think they both like getting the TLC money and having an instagram account helps promote the show/brand/themselves as stars. I don't remember if Austin has ministry dreams or some other career dream where fame is an asset. If he has no or a low desire to be famous, the Instagram account and TLC might be done to appease her family and get some easy money for appearing on tv. In a couple years, maybe they'll tire of it and quit the show. If they quit, I bet they will do it more gracefully than Derick. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

I don't as much about the Bates, but I think the Bates do things differently in terms of courtships/dating, etc.. One thing that has always been true about the Bates is the young people get out more and meet people. They're meeting people in their bubble, but they have more social connections more than the Duggars and getting out more gives them more opportunities to find their own spouse. I tend to think they meet people, who they then decide to court instead being set-up. I may be wrong and Gil and Kelly still tell their kids who to court, but it doesn't seem like the matches are arranged. (And yes, I'm aware some of the Duggar matches like Jeremy and Jinger seem to be mutual friends, but all of those boys seem to have had arranged relationships.) -

Lauren and Kendra are the oldest daughters in big fundie families and I don't them well enough to say it's 100% true, but I believe their options are a lot like Joy's. Help mama with the children or get married and raise their own or strike out on their own possibly with no help/support* from the family. I don't know for sure, but it isn't unheard of for fundie parents to want their kids and especially their daughters to wait to move out until marriage. We knew some really mainstream fundie-lites who insisted their kids live at home until marriage, and some of their kids got married young like the Duggars/in-laws. *(By help and support I don't necessarily mean financial. It could also be emotional support as well.) -
Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Temperance replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Well, no one has ever exaggerated or lie about their height on dating profile. -
Maybe..., maybe not... Jill's second youngest is almost 3. Jill is pushing forty and her fertility is thankfully slowing down a little. I know that people in this thread like to believe every woman can unlimited kids in their forties, but that has not been true for my friends and family. Of course since these are quiverful people, it wouldn't surprise me either if she was pregnant soon.

Nurie's suitor (who gave her the gift basket with gum in it) posted quite a few pictures of himself in hunting gear including camouflage, which lend himself to the nickname camo. I don't remember the dental student, and I don't remember camo's family. For some reason, I thought they were the same person.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Anna's mother had 8 kids. -
Some people I know think children and particularly child sound cold. I don't, but my mama always managed to convey affection when she said child(ren). As for babies versus little ones, I think with Michelle's track record that baby would be thought of as the youngest one and maybe only if they're under one. Like Jinger was the baby, but Jessa (1), Jill (2&1/2) and Jinger would be little ones, if that makes sense. They could use the word toddlers/tots, but tots sounds dated. I know my fundie-lite friends only use baby to describe the youngest as mentioned earlier. This sounds right.

Not to take away from the discussion above, but I really disliked the photo of Israel on the scale. He's a young child who seem to be healthy in most respects. He eats what his parents feed him. And yet, there he is posed on scale, pretending to look upset about his weight. It isn't his fault and he's just a very young kid. It bothers me that he's 3 years old and they're already teaching him that your weight can be a source of shame, judgment, stress or worry. I bet if he was a girl, people would be upset. Although from millenials on down, boys/guys/men are more and more self-conscious about their bodies.

So I went scouring FJ for information. All of the following is info from their site. Jill does Facebook more than the blog and then only with her friends. (I dare anyone who wants to send a polite friend request.) Here is what I learned. Jill did FacebookLIVE! on Monday April 16. Her faith is renewed in God and Plexus. They are back with her family. She witnessed her faith to the nurses. They annoyed her by asking repeatedly how the baby was eating. (6) She posted picture on facebook, but maybe just friends can see? (9) Jill's parents came to see the baby. (17) Nurie turned 19 recently. Doesn't seem to be in a courtship. There are some rumors about why. Jill was asking about churchs in the Richmond, VA, but no one knows why. There was some speculation as to why.

TDS 3.0: Season Three Talk
Temperance replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
That 80s sitcom bit was really funny and made me laugh a lot. (From Wednesday's show). -
Minichallenge: The Vixen did the best imo. What was Blair St. Clair wearing? I didn't like her outfit. For the rest of the show: I loved that Aquaria got paired with Eureka. Cameron Michaels was my favorite and should have at least been in the top, if not the winner. Glad she got to speak to Shania. I liked Monet's outfit. I'm embarrassed that I mix up Monet X. Change and Monique Heart. Part of that is that the names are similar. I agreed with Michelle that was giraffe, not brown cow. I didn't like her performance for the challenge, but I adored Blair's outfit on the main stage. It was so cute. Easily the Best Untucked of the season. Easily.

@MyPeopleAreNordic You got this! You can fight cancer! I think ovarian cancer has a survival rate especially among younger people and when they catch it early! And on the bright side, iirc you don't want more kids so this way you won't have to worry about that. Stay strong! And we'll try our best to entertain!

Maybe she hasn't been blessed yet... I agree she'll probably have another baby sooner than later. Like the Bates girls, I think it's going to be hard for them to walk away from the quiverful movement/anti-birth control movement which is ingrained in their minds. I will never understand the sandwiches thing.

I like that you two are working on Spanish with each other and teaching us all by posting your Spanish lesson (i.e. the Fritos bag). Tia Temperance is so happy for you.

On the filming, I didn't watch the video, but I assure mom getting ready with x amount of kids in the morning is a thing among mommy vloggers. Yes, lots of women vlog (blog with video usually via youtube) about their mom lifes with little tips and everything. These women often are stay-at-home mom's looking for a little extra money if they can get it from youtube. Jill can get a little money that way, especially since she's already famous and her (and the family's) fans will watch. They get more money the more people who watch. Michelle and the family look all right. Michelle's eye shadow is especially noticeable to me, but I don't wear eyeshadow much. I've always wanted to be able to run distances, but I wouldn't know how to train. I had a fundie-lite friend who did like half-marathons, marathons, 5K, and 10K. She did her last running event when her oldest was 8 months. She also got pregnant with her second around then. But she works out religiously even though she has a lot of children. I guess part of it is making the time.

Brenda is the mother, not the daughter. The Willis kids all have J- names, like the Duggars. On the issue of why didn't she turn to her in-laws, it's hard to say how people will react to learning the truth. The in-laws/grandparents could have believed her and their grandchildren or backed their son. They could have thought prayer and repentence would fix everything. They could have encouraged her to go back maybe with safe guards in place. They could have decided to protend nothing happened. Anything could have happened? Just because people seem warm doesn't mean they are, especially when dealing with an extremely diffcult situation. Edited to add: I don't know them and I don't know anything about the in-laws. Just thoughts based on human nature.

What would be the odds of a woman who has been pregnant?
