I didn't know where they were/are. Thanks for telling us! I googled it and confirmed. I assumed they were house sitting or visiting friends in a house belonging to their friends. That is a really nice place. I also wonder who gave the vacation to them.

I laughed a lot at this episode. Eureka's look was her best yet and I think my favorite of the night. Kameron won! She is one of my faves. Asia was the weakest this week for me. I thought the lip sync battle was pretty even this week. Enough with the bickering. Especially in Untucked. I agree, especially since they care about things like hip pads, wigs and cinching.

Kelly and Gil Bates are college-educated and their culture before joining IBLP was probably encouraging education for all. Sending their kids to Crown is possibly a melding of both their current beliefs (religious to a fault) and their previous beliefs (education is good thing). It's also possible that Kelly and Gil want their girls to have a fall-back career in case they need it. (For example, if the couple decided they needed more cash or if the something bad happens and one of their girls is widowed, etc.)

I've been thinking of @MyPeopleAreNordic all day. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

That she's surprised to be pregnant is kinda dumb. But she and the rest of the women aren't dumb for thinking they don't have a choice. It's not that they don't know where babies come from or how to prevent them. It's that they have the stupid cult in which they were raised in their heads telling them it's immoral to do anything to prevent pregnancy. They have to be joyfully available and they're not allowed to use birth control. It's a very hard mindset to escape. The Bates girls have the added bonus that Kelly is one of their closest friends. I know Kelly's type and I'm sure she puts pressure on them to live the way they were raised. I was raised Catholic. Depending on the church and where in the world/country you are, it may be controversial to say you want to use anything other than natural planning including condoms. It gives me some insight into what these women are going through. For whatever reason, it's easier for some people to leave their upbringing behind than others. This belief seems to be at the core of what they believe and that makes it harder for them to reject what they were taught.

I think the Vuolos were in control of the ceremony. Didn't his father do the cermony? JinJer has never publically stated that as far as I know. Anna and Josh, Jill and Derick, Joy and Austin, Kendra and Joseph have all said "they were leaving it up to God." in public statements.

The term "trailer park" has a stereotype of lower class individuals, who have relatively crass habits. My guess is that JB is trying to negate the images conjured up by the term trailer park by calling it "an upscale RV Park". The urban dictionary offers several definitions if you want to learn more about these stereotypes. I also would not be surprised.

Maybe JB saw the Forsyths' family camp and decided he needed a similar business venture. The Foysths' camp has cabins and activities, but an RV park seems easier to establish. It's hard for me to imagine this isn't some kind of Christian RV park. I wonder if they'll have problems with the kind of people who might show up. As for the money, he has 19 kids- 10 boys and at least one son-in-law who works primarily for JB. He has the next generation of 200 to think about.(Even if someone of the families like JinJer are self-sufficient that still leaves a possible 100 grandkids for the future.) I doubt they're hard up now, but JB is thinking for the future, especially if they're no longer on tv. A lot of wealthy people don't have huge families so that there are less heirs to fight over the inheritance. I could see this family squabbling over money in the long run.

Asia O'Hara: Everyone is quiet after Snatch Game. Even Kameron is quieter than usual if you can imagine that.

They said they were clean and organized, but they never really tried to be on-time. The schedule was more of checklist and they checked off things as they did them. (Which is a strategy I sometimes try to use myself). However for as long as I can remember they had Duggar time, which was always later than the thing was scheduled. They even bragged about how understanding and accommodating other people were for them, because they had so many children.

She or Derick said something before similar to what Lunera posted . The idea that they have serious ideological disagreements with a toddler annoys me to no end. There's a big difference between someone with grown children or even teenage children having a discussion on an issue where you have different points of view and a caretaker arguing with a little kid about naptime, picking something up, etc. Of course also implies that she and Derick are all-knowing and right and know what bests for everyone (as in they're the parents) and we're the little kids they're humoring and teaching what's right. Yeah, right.

I've never heard of anyone shaming women for being older when they had kids. I've known a lot of women who've wanted late in life children and older age limited their fertility. And I know a lot of people who are concerned about over-population (which is somewhat reasonable). I've never heard anyone say anything about a married woman having a late-in-life child, besides concern about health risks and big families, etc. My mom was an "older" mom and people assumed she was younger, but I never anything judgmental about it.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Too many fundie women do that latch-onto-him move too often for it to be a total accident. It's like the headship-adoration gaze. Either they're teaching the girls/women to do that deliberately or that the girls are seeing it so often they figure that's how you pose for a picture. Part of it is that whoever is taking the photo wants the intended audience to know this is a couple in love!- 6.4k replies

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
They seem to be out to dinner with her dad and 7 of her siblings. Her mother and the baby are probably at home. -
I think Derick knows what Star Wars is. Jill and the rest of the Duggars probably don't know. Ben maybe doesn't know. Most of the fundies we follow wouldn't know. But Derick went to actual school with people who come from varying levels of religiosity. After high school, he went OSU. I'm sure he's seen atleast one Star Wars movie in his life, although most likely none of the movies that came out since he married Jill.

Most Americans aren't worried about being perceived as bullies in the same way. Go watch Celebrities Read Mean Tweets on youtube. People say all kinds of horrible things about celebrities all the time. Or read the comments on any article on on-line. And then some people prefer to keep their opinions to themselves or only say nice things.

It sounds like Michelle and JB to me, but who knows?

@SnarkyShark I hear you on the culture. The sexism is only part of it. There are some reason as well. There are lot of nice Catholics out there, but not all the people I've met are great. A lot of the doctrine concerning social issues doesn't make sense to me and it's not a matter of learning more about it. Not matter how much I learn it wouldn't make sense to me. I really don't want to offend which is why this is sort of vague. I like Pope Francis, but he's much more like his predecessors than everyone makes him out to be in both good and bad ways. I'm not committing to anything yet, because I'm still trying to figure what I want to do.

The Maxwells are pushing a software to keep your loved ones from being sucked into a vortex of internet porn addiction. It's called Accountable2U and it works like this. You can look at whatever you want on the internet and the next day a close family member will get a report of all your web activity along with ratings (like a movie) so they can see if you are looking at anything harmful. If you're married, your spouse gets the report. If you're single a child, one of your parents gets the report, (in this case their mother Teri). Steve and Teri are accountable to each other and their unmarried children are held accountable by mom. They started this last year. Last year their oldest Sarah was 35 and the rest were between 26-20. John got married last year and now there are four children ages 36-21, who live at home and of course most of them are female. It just strikes me as weird and well, a little paranoid. What do they think their kids are looking at? Depending on the parents, it might not be so bad, but Steve and Teri filter and censor everything their kids at home are exposed to. They have very strong limits on what their kids are allowed to look at. No movies or television, nor the national news nor contemporary music, nor video games, nor social media, etc. They seem to want their kids to live at home until they get married and I think the logistics for the kids moving out before marriage would be incredibly difficult. They are promoting the software/app that does this, so it's something they're proud of. You can also buy your mother for mother's day their own advice books and cds on How To Be a Better Wife and Mom.

What!!! I'm Catholic and outraged by the misogyny of that story. I'm tired of our Church getting a free pass. I'll be in the prayer closet, still working out what kind of Christian I want to be.

Alert has at least one Instagram account and there was a photo of some Duggars and Bates sitting in a classroom.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Josh certainly doesn't (in terms of having a lot of kids). I think most people are okay with having a larger family and then they have kids, and reality sets in. They see how much work even one child is and they're not getting any sleep and there's suddenly less money for fun things and they have to consider the kid's future... I don't how many of the Duggar sons want to be JB, but for now they're okay sprouting the party line while the kids are hypothetical. I think once they have, for example three kids under four they might start thinking "hey we need to slooow down." Joy and Austin seem okay with being parents, but they've toned down the rhetoric since Gideon was born. -
Monet X. Change (Maya Angelou) and Aquaria (Melania) were the best imo. Kameron survived! Yay! I'd rather see them play adults during the snatch game. I've never heard of the lip sync song. Kameron and Cracker don't gives themselves enough credit. They were pretty good at the snatch game compared to some. I actually thought Monique Heart (Maxine) was better than Asia (Beyonce) . If the Vixen had lipsynced against Asia, Asia would have won. I hope Monique finds sucess and I wish her the best.
