Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I don't think they'll have the wedding house. Or the reception. But after the reception they have an afterparty and that's usually at house. -
My first reaction to seeing Cracker eliminated was WTF? I was shocked. Afterwards I understood. I love Kameron, but I was shocked by this elim. She had been in the bottom three times in a row. But Cracker's performance was off. And she and Kameron had both won one challenge. Kameron's was her solo performance in the Cher show and Cracker's seemed to be helped by her partner. I felt they were in the bottom less for their ability to dress, and more because they just didn't go revealing enough with their insecurities. I thought Aquaria and Asia did a good job with the insecurities. Eureka's insecurities seemed to be more generic for her and not what she really thinks of herself. That's fine, but her performance wasn't my favorite. Then again I didn't really recognize either of her characters (Cher from Clueless and something John Waters.) I got the video game thing even if I don't game. It was good.

Overpricing the cars sounds exactly like his dad.

Did anyone else hear the champ tonight (6/12) give an question without the question? I thought I heard her say "the answer" and not "who is" or "what is"

So they had a baby.... while my computer was getting fixed. I knew there would be big news. I like Garrett as much better way to honor the father than Joe Jr. He gets to be his own person more and not share a nickname with at least two of his uncles and aunts. (Josiah and Josie plus Johannah who goes by Hannie and four more Jo-names. ) Good for Kendra having an easier birth! Although I do think certain things are out of people's control. Joy and Jill might still have had traverse or breech babies even with prenatal care. Any of the girls might have gone over their due date. Israel may have been naturally big as he's so tall and big for age anyway. I hope Kendra had better prenatal care and more qualified people delivering the baby, but part of the easy delivery is probably luck. Of course having a first delivery go well, might make her more of a candidate for homebirth next time. I wonder if TLC had something to do with them not giving birth at home. If I were the network, I would be tired of filming Duggar homebirths that went badly and would be scared of both public outrage/backlash if something horribly wrong happened while we were filming. (I've wondered if this is why they don't film Jill and Derick anymore. I mean they possibly gave Jill and the Duggars one last chance with Joy's birth and that didn't go well. I wouldn't let Jill deliver someone else's (non-family) baby on-camera for fear, they might sue the network if it didn't go well.)

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

Guy, who's dressed like a pizza delivery guy on the right, seems to be in sneakers to me, but I can't be sure. I can't tell who the guys are either. Jana looks as happy as I've ever seen her. -
Hey guys good news my computer is fixed earlier than I expected and I'm back! (My friend with the surgery is having it later in the week). But I'm excited to see @MyPeopleAreNordic is here. Thank goodness you're hanging in there! You are strong! Sending good thoughts and prayers! I don't read over at the Teen Mom forum; I'm getting nordic people news and my teen mom news here in the Counting On forum!

Hey guys, so my main computer broke and I will be on the site less frequently for about a week (probably). I'm wondering if that means there will be big news like a wedding from the Duggs. Anyway best wishes, and please pray for a friend having brain surgery next week. It will probably go well, so don't worry. Hope to be back soon! Hugs!

Steve Maxwell has a column where he gives parenting advice. It's weekly and the last four columns have all been about the evils of television. His son John married Chelsy who evidently grew up watching a little tv and some movies. They have decided it's okay to try watching things. Steve is not impressed.

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
Temperance replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
As far as I know, there has been endless speculation about why Jana isn't married and still lives at home. There is no real answer to this. I always hope that she has a say in whether she is married or not. -

The video was very short. Jessa hopefully was keeping an eye on Spurgeon. Jana may not need help. -

Preach! -
I'm not sure they couldn't have found a wife for Josh. I think a lot of youngish fundies marry even without money. I also think Jill would have stayed, because she really like being a Duggar and I'm not why she would have needed to work more than any of the others. I agree with you about the others although I'm not sure of Jana/Jd's motivations. I also think the -iah twins would be gone/leaving soon.

Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I also thought Lauren was the oldest, and I'm surprised people seemingly devout to Gothardism have a child mainstream enough to do Crossfit. Edited to add: Based on her Instagram, her last name isn't Swanson (which doesn't necessarily mean anything) and she has photos with her mother who isn't Lauren's. There is a strong resemblence. Editing to add2: Only that picture with Lauren, but two with Jinger, one with Jana and Maisie, and one in the TTH with Joe caught unawares. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
I think that a lot of the decisions about the wedding will come down to money and maybe filming. Josiah is twenty-one and has only worked for his dad. Not sure how much he was paid or has saved, but I would guess not much. Lauren is barely 19 and doesn't to have held a job outside the house although anything is possible. That would mean either one or both sets of parents are paying for it or TLC is. While it is traditional* for the parents of the bride to arrange/pay for things, the Duggars have more money and resources, more connections and lots of experience arranging weddings. It would seem likely that they are really helping out plan this wedding since they have a lot of time and money and Lauren's family has a young baby. TLC might want the wedding in Georgia for novelty's sake, so there is that. *I don't think much of this tradition. It's sexist. Most couples I know pay for the wedding themselves or both parents help. -
The idea of cuties is that they're easy to peal for children. The commercials market them towards children. I have no idea if they're easier to peel or if that's just a marketing ploy.

Maybe Jana likes to sew and looks for reasons to break out the sewing machine. -
Josiah and Lauren: He Has To Marry Somebody

I'll kind of give them a small pass, because people have different ideas of what an easy distance is. My fundie-lite friends have family 9 hours away and they manage to drive there often enough. My family would shrug it off most of the time with "too far!" So I'm not sure if they know how big CA is. I do think a lot of fellow fundies would willing quite a ways to meet the Duggars. Topic: Maybe the wedding will be this weekend? -
I think Jill really does admire her family and her upbringing. I think she is nostalgic for and misses being a part of such a big tribe. I don't know if she still aspires to have a double-digits family or if reality has set in to the point where she probably will have considerably less children than her parents. A lot of Americans still eat plenty of carbs and cheese and whatnot, but not these casseroles (at least all the time) because we have to feed a smaller family. Jill is probably reminiscing about being a Duggar girl.

@DragonFaerie you left out that Lauren has 8 siblings and two parents, not including any extended family.
