  1. THIS. Boy and Girl Scout type characters are generally my favorites. The MCU managed to do it with Captain America so it's totally possible it just requires like, caring. It reminds me of a quote from Olivia de Hallivand about playing "good" characters -
  2. Ugh, I love Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess as the Phantom and Christine (I listen to the recording of their performance at the 25th anniversary with Hadley Fraser as Raoul rather than the OBC) but Love Never Dies sounds absolutely awful. I hate that people romanticize the Phantom. People who murder 2 people, pretend to be your dad, and then kidnap you and threaten to murder your fiance if you don't marry him do not make good boyfriends!
  3. I think you're confusing his character in Crazy Rich Asians with his character in A Simple Favor. In CRA, his name is Nick Young. He's definitely supposed to be full asian. There was even backlash when he was cast because he is biracial and the character is meant to be full asian.
  4. A slightly better look at the suit! I haven't paid that much attention to the casting (other than the big names), but I noticed there wasn't really an implied love interest in the trailer. I'd love it if this was just about Carol and her journey, no love interests needed. I wonder how the de-aging CGI will look over a full length movie rather than in short scenes. SLJ probably didn't need as much de-aging as say, Michael Douglas did.
  5. OMG i didn't catch that shot of Phil with hair the first time! Worth the price of admission alone.
  6. I was rewatching a bit and was reminded of this exchange between Richard and Emily about Logan and Rory: Emily: Picture his blond hair and her blue eyes on a little baby... Richard: Incomparable!
  7. It's funny, because I really liked IB after his part as Josh in Happy Death Day, but none of that resurfaced. I guess because Happy Death Day wasn't really aimed squarely at the teen girl demographic like To All the Boys, and the latter took off on social media in an unprecedented way? tbh I found Israel Broussard more conventionally attractive than NC, if in need of concealer under his eyes (so does Charlie Heaton in Stranger Things) and thought he did a good job in To All the Boys. But with "canceled" culture, those tweets are going to be monkey on his back career wise.
  8. It probably also helped Noah Centineo that his only heartthrob "competition" in To All the Boys, Israel Broussard, had his old offensive tweets resurface pretty much right after the film came out.
  9. As a fan of all of these ladies, I'm excited! Olivia Colman's name without the "Academy Award-nominated/winner" just looks wrong and from what I've read of her performance, that'll probably change with this movie.
  10. Weird, I just watched a trailer for this on youtube! It just popped up. I love me some Richard Madden, but I'm totally thinking about it.
  11. Stanford is a private school anyway, the tuition wouldn't change.
  12. I loved Rainbow Rowell's other novel, Fangirl but I'm hesitant to read Eleanor and Park because I read some criticisms from asian-americans of the way it depicted Park (who's half Korean, not Vietnamese) and his family.
  13. That's the way she was presented in the novel as well. I think it was meant to show that she and Colin were like Nick: fully a part of wealthy society while still being grounded, not snobby people. I loved it! I was so excited about this one. I was a bit disappointed that they cut a bulk of Astrid's story in the novel (I'll put it in spoilers just in case)
  14. Sam literally told Bucky that he hated him in Civil War, and I'm pretty sure he meant it. I'm sure Sam would be nicer now that more time has passed since Bucky (as the Winter Soldier) tried to kill him but I wouldn't say they were friends.
  15. Aw, me too! It's helps that I'm a fan of Paul Bettany. I was tickled when I realized that they were actually going to go in on Wanda/Vision, cuz it just seems like a weird comics-only thing that wouldn't work in live action. His deaths were gutting! Both he and Elizabeth Olsen sold it. It was one of the saddest scenes in the film for me.
  16. But why do Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Quicksilver still look the same if DP2 is supposed to be in the present day? Shouldn't they have aged since the 80s? I guess get them using McAvoy as Xavier if they couldn't get Patrick Stewart but still weird.
  17. Marvel celebrating 10 years with another video
  18. OMG the music video though. It's incredible.
  19. I need to hear Paul Bettany recite that.
  20. Seeing the actors without CGI makes me realize how good everyone else is. I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.
  21. I wonder what the reaction would be if they went back to a white Johnny Storm? Kinda hope they cast a different non-white actor (maybe asian or latino?) just to fuck with the racists.
  22. Reminder that Henry Cavill is handsome. Also Angela Bassett
  23. Still hate Depp's casting. He's barely doing an European accent! Yes to Jude Law tho. And yes, many have noticed! Also YES to meeting Nicholas Flamel!
