  1. I don’t think anyone in this cast has deserved a 10–choreography, performance, technique. But, I’m sure the judges will give someone a 10 soon, deserving or not. They know people are looking for them. From what I’ve read, people would prefer the 10s go to James or Kate.
  2. Joe can repeat and repeat as much as he wants about Trump not being a conservative but is a lifelong Democrat. It won’t convince most people that Trump’s a liberal/democrat. Trump’s decisions have been blessed by the conservatives (Mitch, Lindsey etc) to include the debt ceiling. Well, maybe the “Fox-type” viewer will be persuaded by the repeating. But, most see him more as a conservative/republican because he is so selfish and money hungry. The main thing is he was the candidate for the Republican Party; not the Democratic Party. Why is that if he’s a lifelong Democrat?
  3. Witney was really emotional after Len’s comments about her QS performance. Earlier, someone had mentioned that Witney LOOKS pregnant. I don’t see it but she was too emotional. This can’t be her first time making a mistake.
  4. I'm dropping both. And, you are right about the music. But, I think TPTB knew the music wouldn't inspire anyone for an AT. So all three conspired. But, you have to have some criteria to choose anything. A good AT is just one of mine. I do use technique as one of my criteria for a favorite but performance is first for me. I'm one of those people you guys hate. I'd rather have someone with great performance skills and mediocre technique than mediocre performance and great technique. I look at the show as an entertainment show. That's why ringers don't bother me. They have the technique and performance skills.
  5. Of course, the newness has fallen off. But, most of the dancers are too polished now. A lot of the thrill of SYTYCD was watching great dancers in a style struggle in another. Now, if you’re not polished enough coming into the competition, the choreographer just creates around you. Speaking of choreography, I saw where WOD won the emmy. I think one reason they kept bringing SYTYCD back was the emmys. If they're going to treat WOD and SYTYCD the same, WOD will always win. Those groups bring in routines that they’ve had loads of time to tweak the choreography and performance. On SYTYCD, the choreographers have the concept coming in but oftentimes, they have to adjust. And of course, the dancers just don’t have the time to perfect the movements, plus, they maybe out of their element. In either case, it was fun.
  6. Everyone seems to like Pasha. I enjoyed his routine least of all the pros and usually the AT is one of my favorites. I don’t know if he had to make allowances for Kate or what. So I need to get someone else to root for. I have to let you go if I don’t like your AT. I give breaks on technique because it takes a while for technique, even if you’re faking it. But as an entertainer/performer, you should be able to get the essence of the dance. The audience should feel the intensity of a tango, the fun of a jive, the romance of a waltz etc. I don’t have a problem with the pros, as long as they can inspire, choreograph and teach. For instance, I never really cared for Maks because his choreography was so bland in the beginning of a season, even if he had a celeb with talent. One season, Gleb was too overt with the sexiness but he seems to have calmed down. Or, maybe I’m just getting use to him (hope not). I enjoyed Kym and I think she was one of the least accomplished pros. But, her routines were enjoyable, her celebs seemed to enjoy themselves, and they respected her/wanted to make her proud.
  7. Jon Meacham talked about Americans being a forgiving people except when lied to. Then he went on and named the presidents who got in trouble during the modern era—Johnson/Vietnam, Nixon/everything, Clinton/scandals, Trump/everything. Is Meacham a republican lover? I know Nixon and Trump are republicans. But, I don’t care who you are, if you’re talking about presidents who lied, you must include Nixon. And, Joe likes to remind everyone, especially lately, that Trump isn’t a true republican. Didn’t he run down all the democrats that Trump gave money to yesterday? I remember thinking but how many republicans did he give money to? Meacham didn’t mention Reagan/IranContra, DaddyBush/Read my lips, or, W/Iraq. Of course they lied about more than those but they are the ones people normally think about right away. Yet, Meacham couldn’t think of anything. He let Carter off the hook as well but they had just talked about how Carter was most proud of telling the people the truth.
  8. I’m guessing John Salley as the Thingamajig. He’s a 4 times champ and he can sing.
  9. Kate is my favorite as well. So far she’s had a foxtrot, cha cha and quickstep. I hope she can handle the other styles because she’s a joyous performer and very rhythmic. Maybe age won’t be a problem. Jennifer Grey won. She was about 50 when she won but she was skinny. I know Amber won and she’s not skinny but she’s young, and Glee was still on the air. Lamar should go next and then Sean. I agree with an earlier poster that James has no male competition. I like Kel and Karamo but they are no match for James. But the women are good. I always vote for the woman if she and a man competitor are about equal in performance/ability because the female celeb is required to do more. That’s why I thought Ally’s rumba should’ve been scored higher than James.
  10. Joe is always on his high horse when he can bring a Clinton in a bad light. No matter what’s happening, he has a Clinton-ism. So glad Pelosi shut him down when he bragged about his votes for 2 of the articles to impeach Clinton and running down the after-effects (losing his law license, how it sticks with you). Joe keeps trying to make it seem like Clinton was abusing the Constitution. She let him know how they differed on Clinton because it was personal behavior. Thank you Speaker. But, since Trump, we know that personal behavior really means nothing to the Republican Party.
  11. I was just thinking of versatility as it relates to the show and the types of styles they promote. Not the world. If bboy dances were part of the show's preferred dance style, he would be very versatile. So the dance skills I was referring to are the ones that are used most on the show.
  12. I meant a bboy may have been cross trained in his early years (someone had stated Bailey was cross trained). But if he’s a great bboy, his recent practices would’ve been devoted to the bboy scene. So his other dance skills are not going to be on point which will make him less versatile than the studio trained contemporary/jazz dancers. Thats just my opinion Feel free to disagree.
  13. I hope it’s renewed. Give it a chance to capture an audience. I really hated that Jessica wasn’t upset with Angela about turning on her. What does she feel guilty about when it comes to her family? i think they are rushing the Nick story. Now he confesses to Keri? They should’ve built up a scenario against McGann first. I like the Nick character. I was hoping they’d have something to show that he may not have committed the murder.
  14. I agree with a lot of what you wrote but I also think they were trying to spice the ballroom routines up. Sytycd audience is cool toward ballroom. They warm up a bit with the flash. Even if the ballroom is done well, the votes are for the contemporary or hip hop. I think they try to give the contestants a fighting chance when they get ballroom by adding the flash. i think, like you said, that we accept turns/leaps in any style. They can usually flow into another move, if choreographed properly. Bboy moves are “look at what I can do” moves. There is no interaction with the partner or group. They just wait for them to finish and pick back up. So it looks like the moves only benefit the bboy, unless hip hop of course. Then they could set up a battle-type sequence. i really don’t have a problem with either. Even if a bboy is cross trained, he’s not going to be as versatile. He’s spent countless hours perfecting his craft. So give the bboy a break. Besides, the audience love bboy moves.
  15. I think age has more to do with the ratings decline and the different ways to view the show. But you are also correct.
  16. Agree. I don’t like Angela. And didn’t she say she wanted to camp outside city hall? So not only does she not appreciate Jessica but she wants to cause trouble for her as well. Im going to have to look back to see why Jessica feels such a strong responsibility toward them. She just lets Angela walk all over her.
  17. You’d think someone on their third marriage wouldn’t want to judge/challenge anyone’s relationship with God. There are no big and little sins. Joe needs to remember that Satan knows scripture too 😉
  18. Sorry but I am one who would like for them to really argue. I want them to adjust the tax cut and whatever else that they can find to help the middle class. But, I don't think health care/provisions for immigrants (legal or otherwise) should be at the top of the list. That's just like people taking care of a neighbor when people in their home are in need.
  19. I know that Newt and the boys didn’t hound the Clintons for three years before catching Bill in a lie about Monica. So what did they track for three years before they caught the Clintons in a lie? According to Joe, it took them three years to catch whatever they caught.
  20. So true. And they've just about mastered their technique. TPTB are constantly making changes. When they did it in the earlier seasons, I think they were trying to better the product. Now, I think they're just trying to get the product on the air. So, they're making deals that they don't even like. But, this got me to thinking of the changes that I've noticed besides the judges interference after the Top 10. Season 1, they got rid of the "reality show vibe" where they showed the dancers conversing and mingling in relax situations, showing the hollywood week class participation, using the same choreography for two couples during the same episode, only a Top 16, and the partners were chosen each week. Season 2, Permanent partnerships. Top 20. I THINK this is when they started emphasizing that the show was about America's "favorite" dancer and not the "best" dancer. Season 3, the judges started "butting in" more. They almost talked Danny out of the contest. The biggest result of the judge's manipulation was talking up a girl-win (Sabra). Season 4, they wanted to emphasize hip hop dancers. This was the highest rated season and had the most vote participation. Season 5, they put emphasis on contemporary dancers. The biggest thing Nigel tried was to turn people against Evan. But, Debbie Allen talked up for him. Was this the last time Debbie Allen was a judge? They also did a lot of manipulation just to keep Kayla in the game. This time the manipulation included choreography to go with the comments. Got another stage. Season 6, they changed to the fall. They didn't have a tour. Season 7, they went with Top 11 with A.S. as random partners, depending on style. Season 8, they went back to contestants as partners. The show chose Melanie from auditions. And, they followed it up each week with bias comments and choreography manipulated for contemporarish as much as possible. Seasons 9 and 10, they decided to have a girl and boy winner. Season 11 went back to just one winner. Season 12, Stage vs Street Season 13 Kids Season 14, A.S. in during the auditions to choose. T10 but paired with A.S. Season 15, T10 but paired with each other. Think the A.S. came during F6.
  21. In a way, that was my point. Benjamin looked as good in his ballroom as Gino did, and Gino had the ballroom partner. But would Gino had looked as good w/o a ballroom partner? I guess I was just thinking they look to be at the same skill level. It just depends on who’s the show’s pick. The pick gets the advantages like the ballroom girl in ballroom and the contemporary girl in the emotional contemp routine. The other gets the obstacles like the hip hop girl in ballroom and the Polynesian routine. Gotta love the show’s manipulations.
  22. Agree. It use to be if you just got broadway, you were history. Guess tptb wanted to make sure that they had a reasonable explanation to eliminate them when they fell in the bottom. Granted, if you do well in the "other" style, you get the praise. But, they had to have known that Anna wouldn't be good in this type of dance. She wasn't even good in the cha cha. Benjamin was ok. No Mark K but Mark is from Hawaii. So not surprised about Anna leaving. I know people don't like Madison but Anna is the weaker. But I thought they would want Benjamin through T6--maybe even do a routine with Benjamin and Gino. On the bright side, we should get at least one great ballroom routine if they assign a ballroom AS to Ezra. It looks like Bailey is bringing in the votes. So they probably won't mess with him unless he starts messing up Gino's support. I still think Gino is the show's pick. That's why they gave him mild criticism in week 1. Now, no one can say that they never say anything negative about him. And when he does hip hop again, they can go on and on about how much better the routine is than the first one. They gave him the ballroom partner so that he could look his best in ballroom. They could've given him Anna and he would've had to try to keep her upright like Benjamin had to instead of just performing. Then, they eliminated her so that he could get with the contemporary partner. Now, he can shine in contemporary and jazz. They didn't even try to give them hip hop or ballroom (styles that Sophie hasn't done) because it's not about Sophie. I really can't see anyone else that the show would prefer. But, we'll see shortly. They need to cut down on audition episodes and add to the performing part. Time is just flying now.
  23. Really not invested in this cast like I've been in the others. I thought the routines were better this week than last week. The jive was my favorite routine. I guess Travis contemporary for Eddie/Sophie was my least favorite because you could see that Travis was trying to hide Eddie. People are saying that Bailey/Mariah are the chosen ones. I don't agree but I do think the show wants them around. They appear to be audience favorites. "Wee Ones" usually are audience favorites, if they don't screw up too badly. They got another upbeat routine. I think as long as they can keep Bailey in upbeat routines, they'll be fine. His personality/facials look ok in those types of routine. And, he's amped up. Too bad they didn't save the jive for him. But, he should be fine as far as voting goes no matter what ballroom that he gets. And, Travis will probably create a partner-heavy (lifts, etc) contemporary for him. I don't even think Madison is the preferred winner either. The show just wants her around for a while because of her "story". They kept Sophie and her in their wheelhouse for the first couple of weeks. I think the plan is to see which one of the two will gain the strongest fanbase before turning it over to fan-voting. As far as Ezra goes, he's doomed. I really think he's performed really well for the first couple of weeks, especially since he was outside his specialty. But he and his sister had to have been splitting votes. With the shortened format, he probably doesn't have time to recoup. Maybe there's enough voters between Stephanie and him to keep him afloat? But, the show knew this would happen. They probably just wanted them for the tour. I don't feel all this chemistry between Benjamin/Anna that they keep telling me is there. Benjamin is really talented. Don't know why they are pushing Anna on us? I didn't think she was "all that" in her genre--hip hop routine. And she didn't pick up ballroom on last week that well either. OTOH, Stephanie was better in her genre this week--ballroom than Anna was in hers. And she did well in her hip hop last week. So, I wonder why they voted to keep Anna instead of Stephanie? Maybe to separate the siblings for voting purposes? They had to let Eddie go. To me, most of the girls look like they could do hip hop like Anna but none of the girls can do ballroom like Stephanie. Gino is the one I think is the preferred winner. They even gave him some mild criticism last week. He got the ballroom girl so that he could shine in ballroom unlike Benjamin who had to rein in Anna. He gets Sophie next week. So does this mean that Sophie will be in her wheelhouse again (contemporary/jazz/bway)? Gino is due one of those. He should really shine next week. I think everyone knew that Eddie would and should've left. He just didn't pull the right style that he could excel in. Obviously, he was added to the cast as a sacrificial lamb. And, to do a tap routine, if they go on tour. I don't think the show is as invested in Sophie as they are in Madison. But, I also don't think it matters to them which is in the final four. I think Gino and Benjamin are the guy-choices for final four. Just like Lex and Logan were the choices during their season. But just like they kept talking Kiki up until he made the final four, I think they may talk Bailey into the final four. They don't want Anna because they can see that she doesn't have the skill. They need competent girls to let the guys shine during the final four; not babysit the girls. They like to have a small girl in the final four (salsa/disco). But, I don't think they really care about the remaining girls. Mariah is the smallest but Sophie is small enough to throw around. But, I think the show wants a male winner and Gino is their preferred winner.
  24. Benjamin Gino Ezra Stephanie Mariah Bailey Sophie Madison Anna Eddie
