  1. Surely you don't believe the bold text. But someone will bite. I think there are a number of reasons why ratings are sinking--DVR and streaming are the main ones. People are also worried about the NFL games. So obviously the ratings are down in most cases. In today's world, there are just more ways to enjoy TV programs.
  2. Bindi's dad and Rumer parents are well known. Thats why TPTB kept bringing up/showing Bindi's dad and showing Rumer parents in the audience.
  3. I think Amber had the fanbase going into the competition. What her partnership with Derek did was not to lose any of the support because of how he choreographed for her. I THINK the first week's cha cha just about ensured no one would beat her, especially with that personality of hers. Some celebs get paired with a pro and never click, choreography doesn't suit them, etc. Then their support fades away. Emmitt, Apolo, Hines, Donald, Meryl, Kristi, Shawn, Jennifer, Alfonso, Laurie and Donny came in with large fanbases as well. Other winners like Bindi, Rumer etc had their support blowup within the first couple of weeks. MAYBE TPTB helped to foster the image a little bit.
  4. Agree. It is a recreation not a redo. One of the things they grappled with was the speed of Lindsey's turns vs Meryl's? I thought Mark's choreography feel was different for that portion. Mark/Lindsey had a different kind of sexual chemistry going on. She was more of a shy (subtle turns, cuddly, long term) willing girl. Meryl was more of a fast (fast turns, a whirlwind, one-nighter) let's get it on girl. If you wanted the Meryl/Maks tango feel, then I can see why you would be a little disappointed in Mark/Lindsey's. But my tin foil says TPTB wanted something to ping her with, but why? Do they not want her in the F3? Or are they hoping her fanbase will energize and uproot Jordan? Edited to change Mark/Paige to Mark/Lindsey.
  5. Well I was fine with it because I didn't see/feel the heat from Paige/Mark's jive either.
  6. The scores are based on last week's performance. Normally, these kind of scores are "thank you for playing" scores. It SEEMS like in the ending weeks, usually you have to do really bad not to get 9s or 10s when you are the one going home. ETA: I'm not saying some people don't deserve 9s or 10s. Just if the scores look suspect during this time for vulnerable lessor celebs, this is probably the reason.
  7. If by "lesser pro" you mean lesser dwts pro, I think he is. But if it means lesser ballroom professional dancer, then I don't. Mark is my favorite pro but Derek has this dwts-thing down.
  8. Agree. I don't call this stealing choreography. He incorporated a couple of moves, like how a lot of people started incorporating the moonwalk after Michael Jackson.
  9. And I think Lindsey does have a bigger fanbase. The way they're scoring Jordan puts me in mind of how they scored Normani. Jordan's the best dancer left just like Normani was. So they had to made sure she made the finals. I hope it's not true. But like you say, there's been no male in early 20s who's won nor has there been a Disney kid to win.
  10. I agree. I was just trying to guess what 3 males CALIPIANO81 was talking about who had the large fanbases that kept Mark's partner from winning. I was basing it on Mark's 2nd place finishes. Alfonso had a large fanbase but he wasn't one that he was referring to. He responded back and let me know it was Hines (Chelsea 3rd place finisher).
  11. Oh OK. I thought of Chelsea but I figured you were going for the ones who ended in 2nd place.
  12. I'm guessing the 3 males with the fanbases were Driver (Katherine); Alfonso (Sadie); and Nyle (Paige). I have to give it up for Derek though. Normally if he made the F3, he won. Derek should've won with Shawn but that was the season tapped for Tony. But he shouldn't have made finals with Ricki (JR) or Amy (sure winner Meryl).
  13. I'm sure someone will eventually talk to Darla. I'm not surprised they didn't right away. They need for things to calm down. Right now, it's too raw for RA and they know their brother. So they wouldn't want to challenge him right now because he'd probably jump to another off-the-wall conclusion--no one supports me blah blah blah. Since Darla had the nerve to show up for the job, why didn't she tell Charley the story? Then, Charley would know that RA got it wrong. She also could've told Charley that she was going to get the paternity test done.
  14. Oh OK I see what people mean by Lindsey doing better with Derek. I agree that Mark should water-down his routines sometime. I also think Lindsey would be getting better scores if she were with Derek. But I think she'd actually learn more from being pushed by Mark.
  15. If she would do better with Derek, I think it would be more that Derek wouldn't challenge her as much as Mark has done. Derek was a master at fitting movements to his celeb. If need be, he would water-down the style but the celeb looked good. Sometimes Mark expectation of his celeb is too high. In earlier seasons, Mark did perform the heck out of his routines but he's changed. If you think he still does, you need to see those seasons. The female pros could dance all around their partner and it was ok but if the male pros showed their style of dance, people went ballistic. I guess because the female is suppose to be the "picture". The frame shouldn't overtake the picture even if it's an exquisite frame :) ETA: I'm just talking about choreographing for the show. It's different if there are weeks to prepare a routine.
  16. It SEEMS like they did the same thing in S11? (Jennifer's season). They called it recreating. I remember Kyle/Lacey recreating Mel Bs PD. I didn't think I would like Kyle/Lacey's because Mel Bs was one of my favorites but I did. The routine was changed a bit but I found myself comparing Lacey to Mel B more than comparing Kyle to Maks. Maybe I'll find myself comparing Lindsay to Paige instead of comparing Jordan to Mark?
  17. I think he's doing the best job as well. My point was the other celebs are being over scored for what they're doing. So there's no way that Jordan should receive lower scores.
  18. I think Jordan will have the hardest time because he'll be compared to Mark. Unless they tweak it, can't see him meeting this challenge. Drew won't be able to match Corbin. But it's a jazz. So, he'll get a pass. Frankie won't be able to execute like Apolo but I think he'll get the character better. I think this tango is made for Lindsey, if she's no longer hurting. In that way, she can keep her posture right. Probably 10s. Victoria pulled a good routine. Amber had problems with her legs during this time. So Victoria should have no problem with it.
  19. I think so too. If they scored the other celebs iaw their performance, they could score Jordan lower.
  20. I can see Charley's side as well. RA told them Darla said Blue wasn't his (eventhough that's not what she said). So Charley thinks Darla's been deceiving them for years. How could she trust her in her business matters? And how could she pretend that everything is fine when her brother feels that he's been used? In a way, I can see how RA got it wrong because it is all about him. When she started with the story and she got to Blue may not be yours, he was so shocked that all he heard was Blue's not yours. What I don't understand is why would he be shocked? He knew she was a user. And didn't they show where she had contact with one of her "men"?
  21. Since they brought in contemporary and jazz, I don't look forward to the freestyles either. The freestyle use to be a break from strictly one style of ballroom per routine. I feel like if they make it to the end, we've already seen a preview of what they would do. It seems like the show didn't start off with the Charleston or AT? Lifts are also acceptable for these styles. Then the judges have given pros a pass on not sticking to the requirements of a ballroom style. Sometimes, the pros just merge the styles to make a more entertaining routine. And the voters have rewarded them with their votes even if the judges ping them for it. I think a good example is the rumba. The pros are making it more contemporish.
  22. I just couldn't think of what I didn't like about Lindsey's samba. I thought of jumpy instead of bouncy but maybe jerky is better. It looked like she was trying too hard. I was surprised the scores were so high? I have a feeling that Jordan is too good for this season. Lindsey is his closest challenge. I really don't see why people think she's dance-trained? She's in great shape and is musical but the body control and movement expression are not there. Mark has just choreographed some good routines that fit her. It seems like Frankie has "personality fan favorite" locked down. Victoria has done well but her physical limitations should not take her to the finals. And, I do remember Amy and Noah. Drew has stayed longer than I thought he would. But, the voters will probably get tired of Jordan topping the leader board. So maybe we'll have a shocker.
  23. I think Val's going to have to choreograph for what's best for Victoria. It is Victoria's season.
  24. So true. It all goes back to who's your favorite.
