  1. Omar is a wonderful, original character. I am binge watching The Wire for the first time. I am currently in the middle of season 2. You are right, it took me until about episode 4 to really fall in love with the show. I think it's the characters that set this show apart. Stringer, Avon, D'Angelo, Freeman, Bunk, Bubbles, Kima, Wallace, Rawls are all wonderful to watch. I know McNulty is the main character, but I find him the least interesting.
  2. I finished watching Season 1 this weekend. I heard so much about this show and decided to check it out. It's an excellent show with great characters, but it's not the greatest drama of all time as so many critics claim. I would give that title to Breaking Bad. The Wire is definitely a solid "A" show. So many great, well-written characters. I watched the first episode of season 2 last night and I'm not liking the story about the docks or the new characters. I'm hoping it gets better in subsequent episodes.
  3. Or Jason taking a dump in the bucket. I love that Jason totally commits to a gag and goes for it.
  4. I never disliked Skyler. She was in a bad situation and under stress, so I could give her a pass on a lot of things. Walt was no prize and I understood her frustration and anger with him. My sister is currently binge watching BB and she said to me, "Walt's wife is kind of annoying." I laughed and told her a lot of people feel that way.
  5. The Beatles were my boy band, but I could totally relate to Erica's obsession. The show nailed that tween girl obsession with cute boy bands. My video love note would have been to Paul. I loved the video comparison at the end.
  6. I cried like a baby during the good bye song. I loved Stephen's pure delight when he saw Santa. Colbert always fully commits to his character. Lincoln "vaping" make me laugh out loud.
  7. I was hoping for a final visit from Neil Degrasse Tyson. I guess it is not to be.
  8. Philadelphia with all the Ben Franklin named sites. Stock exchange trading floor. Nascar race.
  9. His other option would have been life in prison where he would have been a target. Either way, he was a dead man walking. There were no good options for him. Maybe it will be a little bit easier on the kids this way. No matter what, the kids will need lots of stability and lots of therapy.
  10. This bothers me a lot because it means that JT was even more of selfish asshole for leaving his kid behind in the Samcro snake pit with Gemma and Clay. I never understood the worship of JT. Didn't he leave Gemma behind with their sick child who later died? None of his actions were that of a concerned father. Jax may have been a murderous drama queen, but in the end, he put this kids first.
  11. What did he say to her? I couldn't understand any of it.
  12. I agree with your post. I did not watch The Wire, so I would give that position to the Sopranos. I have often thought that Sutter must be a nightmare. After watching the cast members reaction to him on the after show and seeing his twitter rants, I am convinced.
  13. I got the feeling she was stoned. Something seemed off with her.
  14. That was my favorite moment too. Although I did get an Ike Turner vibe.
  15. I agree! I would have preferred to see her screaming over her son's lifeless body knowing it was her actions that led to his death. She did not rate a quick death in a beautiful garden.
  16. It's plausible. I saw Jaws a few weeks before it opened at a special preview. It was shown with the movie I came to see as a surprise double feature. It was definitely a thing in the 1970's. I think both movies came out around the same time.
  17. I always find the color of her hair distracting. That color red does not exist outside of a bottle. Clairol wasn't around in the 1700's. I think I would find her character more tolerable if she looked more like a woman from that era. ETA: Van Tassel is a stripper name.
  18. Wow! She looks incredible. The casting of Wendy as Beverly is spot on. They look very similar.
  19. I thought the same thing all season, but when you think about the world Jax lives in, it makes sense. In real life, gangs murder people in especially brutal ways to send a message.
  20. So many great performances. Charlie,Theo and Jimmy were on fire. One of the things that bothered me this season was why no one thought Gemma could be the killer. That was nicely explained by Jax saying that the murder was so brutal, he thought it had to be gang related. Thanks KS for clarifying that.
  21. I think of it as Jax having a speech impediment rather than the actor struggling with an accent.
  22. I've been giving this some thought and I don't think Jax will kill Gemma. I think he will definitely cause her to suffer. If she does die, it won't be by Jax's hand. I feel that killing Gemma is not a psychological line that Jax can cross. Anyone else have any theories as to how Jax and Gemma will end?
  23. Please let this happen! It could actually be a better series without the constraints of A&E.
