  1. Yeah, he was going to abuse no matter what, it's just that his position allowed him to be more selective about his victims. I do think that he preferred "Hollywood hot" type women because there are some men who judge their success by how hot the women they can bed are. Those men are assholes, but they exist and I think he was one of them.
  2. I imagine it is very hard not to get caught up in the bubble of romance the show creates. I actually think that the majority of those who make it to the end do believe they are in love with each other, but what they fell for was the fantasy surrounding the show. I mean, it's got to be really hard to not fall in love with a hot person of your sexual preference who takes you to private concerts, on helicopter rides, buys you expensive gifts, and does everything they can to woo you while looking camera ready at all times. But then, when the ring is on and the cameras are off reality sets in and they come to the painful realization that they know nothing useful about each other. I did mistakenly expect these older contestants to have the life experience to know better, but the fact that it seems Gerry and Theresa got engaged without actually ironing out what state they would live in shows they, as dozens of youngin's before them, got swept up in the fantasy and forgot that the marriage was going to take place in reality. (more Theresa than Gerry on this one, I think he was just living it up macking on as many women as possible and making promises he may have had no intention of keeping. He seems like a player to me.)
  3. I doubt there is one clear thing but more a combination of factors, they grew up in different eras, had different parents, different support system, are inherently different people, etc. But I do get the impression that Zendaya is overall a more grounded person, be that by nature or nurture I can't say, but I will assume that, while she may have been a child breadwinner, I don't get the impression that her parents got as seduced by the glamour as Brittney's did and remained grounded parental figures for her. Another difference, that could be just part of who each of them are inherently, is that Zendaya seems much more confident in who she is than Brittney. I think Brittney got swallowed up by the popularity and fame in a way Zendaya hasn't because of that grounding she gets from her family (and possibly pre-fame friends). There are plenty of child performers who came out of it quite well and some who sadly crashed and burned and I think it's part nature (their core personality) and nurture (the influences around them). Brittney seems to have struck out, I think her personality wasn't right for fame (not a diss, it's not for everyone) and she was surrounded by vultures who picked away at her until there was not much left. Zendaya has the right personality for fame and is surrounded by a good support system.
  4. That is me every time I have to go grocery shopping on the weekend, thinking "how much do I really need bread, can't I just eat the tuna out of the can?" because I'm in my pjs, and while they could technically pass as clothes I just can't bring myself to go out braless. lol I'm a slippers or comfy socks person. I don't care if people wear shoes in my house, but I tend to sit cross-legged or with one foot under me, or curled up in my chair and sitting with a shoe up your butt isn't comfy. I am the anti-Tarentino as barefeet repulse me, so I tend to think too many people on tv go barefoot. I'm always amazed when it's clearly winter, cold, they are in warm cozy pjs, but running around in bare feet, like, dude, put socks on and you won't be half as cold. (and I won't have to keep looking away to avoid seeing your feet!)
  5. She probably can't handle money because she never learned/was never taught. While she needs to take responsibility for herself and her actions, she wasn't really given the tools she needs in which to do that. It's like handing a 12 year old the keys to the car and expecting them to know how to drive it. She should not be put back in conservatorship but I do think she needs some help from someone to learn all the basic life things we normies have to do, like living within a budget. Sadly, the damage done to her when she was young will continue to affect her the rest of her life and the family that used her all those years are, in part, to blame for her being so unable to function in the real world.
  6. I think it's sweet. I kind of wish the show had been on before social media so we could all have believed in the fantasy a bit longer. The idea of two older people who have been in solid relationships in the past finding each other after losing their spouses sounds like a lovely show, and in the hands of someone other than the Bachelor team it might have been handled better, but Bachelor Producers gonna over produce, it's right their in their job title so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised, and of course they picked the shiny tv ready Gerry rather than some average guy with a heart of gold who was truly looking for just ONE woman to spend his sunset years with. (of course that guy would likely be too smart to go on this show and allow his life to be picked apart by us vultures lol)
  7. I was excited about Golden Bachelor for a minute because I too thought older people might be more genuine, but then I remembered that it would be older people who agreed to humiliate themselves on a trash TV show so my expectations dropped dramatically. I think all age groups have people genuinely looking for love, who wouldn't lie and cheat their way into someone's heart it's just that those people wouldn't be caught dead on this over produced tv show. The second I saw Gerry I was dubious about his sincerity. He just screamed smarm to me just from looking at him, but then I know we're not supposed to judge books by their covers, but sometimes the book has chosen it's cover to represent it and in this case, Gerry wasn't any deeper than his cover/image hinted at.
  8. I nearly died from the total lack of shock when I read they were already divorced. The only real shock was that I hadn't realized they were already married. lol (I only follow the franchise now via recaps so once the season is off the air I barely pay attention). I never felt that Gerry was really that sincere. I always got a "I want to be on TV" vibe from him and I think he was happy to let it go to his head. I have no real opinion on Theresa. Something about her put me off but I can't put my finger on what and she didn't do anything that seemed terrible so I guess she's fine so glad she's free of him.
  9. It's a typical case of "a little goes a long way". When Jay is occasionally overridden by the wants/needs of the ghosts it can be funny, but when it is just constant, and he doesn't seem to get a win, it becomes frustrating/annoying. I do agree with those saying that without Flower, a bit of the shows heart seems to be missing. I still love it, don't get me wrong, but that warm hug vibe isn't as strong as it has been in past seasons and that could be because our little flower child isn't there to balance the more selfish tendencies of the others. I do think Pete is a big sweetheart, but he can't pull them all from the brink on his own, and he's been dealing with Carole which has got to be a challenging his usually sunny outlook. It just goes to show how powerful the right mix of characters is. Without Flower the ghosts have become unbalanced.
  10. Well, isn't she special. 🙄 Well, she certainly hasn't learned anything from all of this. yay 😒
  11. I always assumed he meant the male ghosts can't ejaculate, which would make sense since they can't seem to get rid of anything they have on them (or in this case in them) for more than a second. That doesn't mean they can't orgasm, just no bodily fluid swapping. And that is the most I have ever thought about ghost sex. I feel...weird now. lol
  12. I honestly forgot OJ was still alive. I do feel for his family as I feel for any family who loses a loved one but I personally can't muster up any feeling at all on this one.
  13. Match made in The Bad Place, that's for sure. I would love to see Pete and Hetty bond over jokes about their cheating spouses cheating on each other for all eternity.
  14. I think that might be what the show goes with. While the Ghosts themselves think it is unfinished business, it doesn't seem so as Alberta should have been sucked off when her murder was solved. As for the others: Alberta - was involved with a bootlegger (if I'm remembering correctly) at the least, she was around gangsters and criminals so could be she made some questionable choices Pete - it is hard to imagine him doing anything bad, though he did give a small child a deadly weapon so maybe his too trusting nature caused chaos in his well meaning wake Sass - he's a little shit stirrer in death, not hard to imagine he was a little shit stirrer in life Stephanie - she's a teenager, that's enough in my book! (omg, I really am old and crotchety now) Don't really know enough about the others.
  15. I feel the same way. The Carole we saw before was the "rewrite" this is the real Carole based on things Pete has said about her and her behaviour in all but the apology moment. I'm not at all bothered by them not showing her lamenting about the family she left behind or really showing anything about her other than what we are getting. I'm not a fan of her and don't really care about her other than as a prop for Pete's storyline and some good laughs like the ones we got here, most of which didn't so much involve her as she was just a catalyst for them, like Thor thinking he was going to get to hit her and then instead sleeping with her (just the reactions alone were priceless) and Pete punching Thor. I'm not a violent person at all, but that was a highlight, because I think Pete really, really needed it, and Thor can really take it. But Hetty was my MVP this ep. I know that in life she was a terrible person, and that her stories are horrific, but there is just something in the way Rebecca delivers her lines, like the scraping footman off your trunk right away, in such a matter of fact manner that delights me. And Isaac and his dino obsession was hilarious too. This was a good ep, even if I didn't actually like the main storyline much. I agree with those who said that watching Jay and Sam getting shit on gets exhausting. This reminded me of my least favorite ep of the entire show, the one with the cult. While there were some good moments in that one too, I loathed the storyline. I didn't hate this one quite as much, but it's up there. Fortunately, the secondary storylines this ep were brilliantly funny.
  16. Thank you for watching that so I don't have to. That sounds horrible, and nothing like the Scrubs I knew and loved.
  17. I totally agree. I get that it is hard for creative types to put aside their own "vision" to cater to their client's tastes, but that is what you have to do when someone is paying you. It is the one thing that has always held me back from "doing what I love" for a job. I love writing, do it all the time, but I know that I would love it less if I had someone telling me what to write or to change parts of my stories that I really care about. But as someone who likes having a somewhat comfortable life, I know that if I wrote for money, I'd have to "give the people what they want". I think that, because I think that way, characters like JJ who just do whatever they want and expect others to love it and think they are great annoy me to know end. That's just not how life works. That he was trying to get money to help his sister just makes it more annoying. I get it, being poor and having to make compromises and sacrifice's sucks, but that's life. It was also very shortsighted. If JJ made a mural the bank liked, they would have kept it up, more people would have seen it, they might have asked him to do another, or recommend him to other companies. He shot himself in the food by not understanding his clients needs. Of course this is the same dude who walked around saying DYNOMIIIITE all the time so, I guess it makes sense. (He was my least favorite character on that show so I'm a bit biased against him).
  18. Proposing at someone else's wedding is tacky as hell. I guess they claim to have gotten swept away by the romance of the moment, though in Sonny's case, I'm sure he did it 100% to take attention away from the bride and groom. Sonny is a dick! I remember the ep in Mom, where the girl died and they didn't tell Marjorie. The great thing about that ep is that I understood each side's POV and IIRC the show didn't really take sides. The friends were doing what they thought was right in trying to save Marjorie from spending her honeymoon grieving, not to mention that she would go on to equate her wedding with Jodie's death. But Marjorie was also right in being angry that they took away her chance to grieve with the group, then then she thought about it and accepted that they did what they did out of love. That really was an underrated comedy. Some of it was stupid but I always thought the bond between the women in the group was so strong and well written. Announcing your pregnancy at someone else's wedding is just selfish. It's not like you're going to be any less pregnant the next day. Just let the bride and groom have their day, a day they have probably been planning for nearly a year or more. It's not quite as bad as proposing at someone else's wedding, but really, a wedding and reception should be about celebrating the bride and groom, and this is from someone who actually dislikes wedding, but still, I can respect that it is important to the people who spent a fortune to have one.
  19. Well that looks...awful. And like another "reboot" in name only that bares only the shallowest of connections to the source material. Good Times had heart, at it's core was a family you (well, me anyway) loved and cared about. Not whatever this is meant to be. On the plus side, Netflix continues to confirm that I made the right choice in cancelling my subscription.
  20. Donald and Maya together are gold (so glad they recast Jane, Maya is absolutely perfect), so I do hope we get a season two. Though it will be interesting to see how I feel about them, since a huge part of what worked for me this season was the slow build up to their relationship. Also, while I can handwave the whole "no authorities notice the bodies left in their wake" bit, I am not sure how I feel about getting over them both trying to legit kill each other. Or at least Jane actually trying to kill John because she thought he killed her cat. I think, at least at first, he was pulling his punches so to speak, but she had 100% every intention of blowing him up soooo, yeah, hard to come back from that (for me), even if it was based on a misunderstanding. However, that could allow the show to recapture the "slow burn" they had in season one, as the pair are now stuck together trying to stay alive and dealing with the aftermath of distrust between them, and the fact they tried to kill each other. If their "high" confessions erase the slate I fear I will not be able to reinvest in their relationship, no matter how good the chemistry.
  21. That is true. I don't think this world allows for a Mr. Rogers type any longer. Someone would try to destroy him for some reason, probably attention since it seems like most everything that anyone does anymore is for attention, to get followers or likes. Now give me a thumbs up or I will end you! (totally kidding. I really don't care. While I get a little boost in seeing that someone liked my comment, I get a much bigger boost from eating a Cadbury Egg so I guess what I'm saying is, give me a Cadbury Egg or I will end you! (still kidding, I'm too lazy to end anyone.))
  22. No kidding! Out of curiosity I just did it. Didn't say anything at first, was curious what it was, there was something about the way he looked in my eye (seemed to be) that just made me want to talk. I actually got slightly emotional and I wasn't even sharing anything big. What a great idea that was.
  23. While Sam would know if the ghosts are watching her log in, Jay would not be able to use the computer without Sam around in order to make sure there isn't a ghost lurking over his shoulder watching him type in his password. Jay is always at a disadvantage in his own home. It is sad that he really doesn't know what secrets of his are not so secret. Hell, even in his dreams he can't be sure Sass isn't watching. At least now he knows what Sass looks like, the ghost can't sneak around manipulating and spying in his dreams.
  24. This episode was great. Poor Pete. My heart was breaking for him when Carol was all "oh, I know about cheating from soaps" LIAR! One of the things I love about this show are little moments, it's like this with a lot of shows I really like, where characters do some little thing that isn't really important and feels more like the character than the actor. In this ep it was when Hetty and Pete were talking in the beginning. While Hetty was her usual snarky self, the whole time she was rubbing Pete's back. It's little details like that that I love. Also, their laughing together about Carol's death was what Pete needed. Another was the faces Alberta was making when Sass and Hetty came interrupting the Pete/Carol moment with a plan to lick Carol's candy (oh, that sounded as bad as being sucked off lol). I agree about loving the various pairings. Sass and Hetty were hilarious this ep and it seems very in character that that is the sort of thing they'd bond over. I imagine them being gossip buddies. As much as I don't want Carol to stay too long, so I think she really worked in this ep. Add me to Team Jay regarding the money. WTF is Isaac going to do with the money? He doesn't need it to "live" while Jay and Sam are trying to make a living there, which will benefit everyone in the long run. I don't blame him from lashing out, and I don't even blame him for saying Isaac isn't real because, quite frankly, he has little proof that he is, and Jay is super stressed, and he's very alone. Sam has a family of like 9 or more (depending on which ghosts you include) while Jay has a family of Sam. That's it. She's all he really has out there in the country, sometimes Sass in his dreams now, but only really one person he can talk to. That said, he and Sam really need to come up with a codeword or gesture she can use when there is a ghost around so Jay will know when he is being overheard. That alone has got to be stressful. The man can't do anything in his own home without wondering if he's being watched. Like, does he have to go past the ghost barrier every time he wants to have a bit of a tug? Yikes.
  25. I do wonder about how time passes for ghosts. Would she really be counting the rising/setting of the sun with a stick in the mud to figure out how long she'd been down there? Or is she going by vibes, like it FEELS like a month? Flower doesn't strike me as the ticking off the days type. Hell, she may have been sucked off, asked to come back because she wanted to be with Thor since they just started their relationship, was sent back, but the coordinates were wrong and she got zapped back into the well. Show runners lie in interviews about what their plans are for the show all the time though, so I never pay much attention to interviews. I think sometimes it is purposeful misdirect and other times they had a plan when they gave the interview but something made them change it. But if they said something like "it has to be a main ghost to really make an impact" that doesn't necessarily mean that is what they planned on doing. It would be like saying "dinner has to be vegetables to really be healthy, (but I'm having pizza)". Of course if they said "a main character is being sucked off" full stop, then who knows what happened. Maybe they lied, maybe they thought about it but realized the cast work too well together to lose one and tossed the idea, maybe Sheila was going to leave then asked if there was a chance to come back and they like her enough to say sure. Personally I don't care as, like I said, I don't pay much attention to what they say as it might not be the truth. lol
