  1. Since I pretty much order everything from Amazon, this is a non-issue. Alexa is constantly telling me my package has arrived. (I get a lot of packages). Sometimes I wish she'd shut up about it, but it is helpful when something gets dropped at the wrong door because I know it should be there, so if it's not, I go looking (I am in condos and sometimes they get the numbers mixed up). My delivery based pet peeve is when Amazon asks if I want to select a specific date for delivery so my items come in less packaging (saving the environment yo!) and then proceed to come on the same day but in 2-3 different boxes. Like, um, doesn't that defeat the point?
  2. Same. The way she handled herself when the shit hit the fan made me think she just got caught up in something that, on reflection, she realized was bad. Nope. Though I guess she is a much better actress than I gave her credit for. With that kind of natural talent in her bloodstream her daughter really didn't need to go to drama school.
  3. Juliana Margulies is someone I never liked but never had a reason why, I just didn't care for her. Now I've got a reason. YIKES! "You don't exist." WTF?!?!?! Also, that highlighted bit... um... just wow.
  4. Seriously! He has written some of my favorite Doctor Who episodes and yet I loathed what he did to the show when he was in charge. I think Moffat is one of those guys who has really great ideas but is kind of all over the place, so as a one off writer he is brilliant. Blink will forever be my favorite Doctor Who episode and the Weeping Angels were downright chilling (until they kept coming back. They never should have come back). But as a showrunner, he comes across as thinking he knows better than everyone. He did this with Sherlock as well. His original characters had to be the greatest ever and it would often end up overshadowing the long time characters that other people created. Like he thought he knew better than Conan Doyle on how to Sherlock or thought he knew better than decades of other Doctor Who creatives on how to Who. He also sucks at writing women. Clara was insufferable and his version of Irene Adler was laughable. And yet, I cannot deny, the man can write an amazing script.
  5. Yeah, based on what Sheila wants to do re: work schedule, if they have all the eps written they could just film all her scene's in a short time frame then she's off to care for her little one, then edit them in later, or have her be the one sucked off only to come back. The second is my preference, if one of the main characters is being sucked off, since I don't want to loose any of them permanently. Though I'm still rooting for Prom Girl. No offence to the actress and hopefully she can get another gig, but I just don't like the character. Or suck off the headless one since he's hardly ever around anyway and it feels like he's only in the US version because the UK version had a headless ghost. No matter what, though, I'm just happy they are getting back to work. I miss Ghosts. And I'm furious that the one thing I wanted for Christmas, Season 2 DVDs doesn't exist. I have the Season 1 DVDs and now I'll have to get Season 2 as Downloads? Boooo I'm old, I like DVDs.
  6. I actively despise Rose Tyler and won't watch any of her season. I saw them once, that was enough. I loved Martha and hated that she was stuck with Ten in his hung up on the blandest female idiot to ever exist on Earth. He had smart, talented, beautiful Martha right there and he was still all "Rose, Rose, Rose". UGH I loved him and Donna simply because they were just friends. Two BFFs exploring time and space together. I don't mind at all that they were brought back. While Donna's ending was beautifully heartbreaking, it was heartbreaking and she deserved better. It always pissed me off that stupid Rose got her live action Dr Who doll to play with and Donna had to forget some of the best moments of her life. (Yeah, I might still be a little bitter. And I haven't seen the new ep yet, don't have access to it, but as long as it has Tennant and Tate interacting I'm perfectly fine with whatever happens.)
  7. I feel like I watched The Cosby Show because it was a thing that was on. I found it too preachy though. I did love A Different World. Agreed, way more fun. Benson was far better than both. I loved the character back on Soap (far superior to, all of them really. Soap was a fantastic show) and it was fun to see him spun off into his own show. Guillame is better than Cosby in pretty much every way.
  8. I didn't cry for Pat but did for Pete as well, but I saw UK first. For me, I just don't care about the UK ghosts in the same emotional way I do the US ghosts. With the US version, the ghosts feel like people and I can connect with them emotionally. With the UK version they feel like charactures and I can laugh at their antics but at the end of the day I just don't care as much what happens to them. They just don't feel real to me. For me that is the fundamental difference between the two versions. Both are good at what they do, they are telling different stories from the same basic premise. I'm glad that they both exist.
  9. I don't know why I even bother watching new shows anymore. Two more I enjoyed, gone. :(
  10. Thanks for the recommendations. I've always been fascinated by the William Desmond Taylor case so def going to check that out, and Colleen Moore's bio as well. I just think early Hollywood was such a fascinating time/place, like a super glamorous wild west.
  11. They tried, it just wasn't any good. I LOVE UK Patsy and Eddie. They never failed to make me laugh. I think it's they are such aweful people it's funny when things go wrong for them. (I love both actresses in the US version but it just didn't work). Ghosts is one of the rare UK shows that was remade in US and actually works. A lot of times UK humour doesn't really translate. I think it was smart of US Ghosts to go with a warmer, more family vibe with the ghosts. Trying to reproduce the original in it's original form just doesn't seem to work. I think it's the accents. British wit just doesn't sound the same with American accents. One of my favorite British comedies was Coupling. They did a US version using the exact same script and I didn't laugh once. I thought it might be because I'd seen the UK ep so many times I was over it. But I went back and watched the UK first ep and laughed my ass off. It really showed me how important casting is. As to Ghosts. I love both versions. To me neither one is technically better than the other. Both have great writing, a stellar cast, all the pieces are there. It's just a matter of which type of humour you are looking for. I think When I was younger I would have preferred the UK version but these days I just want feel good TV so prefer the warm fuzzy vibe of the US version.
  12. Maybe I'm weird, but I really don't care what people who play act (or sing, or play a sport) for a living think about world politics. Ryan Reynolds is hilarious and hot and that is all I need him to be. And he is VERY good at both. 😁
  13. There is no amount of money that would make me want to be under the kind of constant scrutiny celebs face, especially when they are trying to grieve for someone they cared about. Everyone grieves differently, everyone processes death differently and at a different speed. It is terrible that these people aren't allowed the dignity to grieve privately. None of them owe us anything. I am sure Matthew knew what he meant to them and that is what matters. I am sure they all reached out to his family to offer there condolences, support, words of kindness, whatever they felt comfortable with, and that is none of the our (the public, fans, etc) business. I am very grateful that no one was harassing me to comment when someone I cared about died. We should allow celebs the same space to deal with the death in their way in their time and privately!
  14. Meanwhile I'm all "Xander doesn't get all the hate he deserves!" Seriously, one of my least favorite characters of all time. And that's saying something. I'm a big old bundle of hate. lol
  15. My interpretation was that Homelander, an all powerful pyschopath saw in Cate a possible ally in his let's go kill everyone spree and basically threatened the Board to go along. After all, the Board are just mere humans. All it would take is Homelander threatening to kill them, Cate walks over and touches them and BOOM Cate and Sam are the Guardians of Godolkin and the four are now prisoners. I'm curious why Marie et al weren't just killed. Even if Marie was immune to HLs laser they could have killed the other three. Then again, maybe they aren't in prison so much as in a safe house. AAAA I can't wait till next season. I'm more excited to see where this goes than The Boys, though I'm still excited about The Boys too.
  16. If that was why, I would love Meryl forever! Get a bunch of celeb couples to be all "oh, yeah, we did that too" so we can all see what Jada comes up with next to make herself feel like the specialist little snowflake of all.
  17. When I used to go camping we had one person like that, the smoke always headed her way. We all tried to avoid sitting next to her. If you walked up to our campsite you'd see about 8 people all crammed on one side of the fire with her sitting alone on the other.
  18. That is a good point. On both Cheers and Frasier the character of Frasier was the odd one out. That's what made him funny. Even though he had fans of his radio show who would fawn on him, they were one offs, not main characters. The main characters, other than Niles, saw him as weird and that made it funny. Now it seems Freddie is the odd man out in that everyone else seems to adore Frasier. But the show is still called Frasier, not Freddie, so it feels off. IMO they should have had Frasier come to Boston to connect with his son fail, and then, desperate for a legit reason to stay, and obsessed with his beloved alma mater, he gets his Tenured friend to get him an interview with Harvard Boss Lady, tries to woo her with all his smarts, his own education, his superiority etc. and in the end it's his "fame" that gets him the job. Have him not buy the building but instead just move in next door and constantly find reasons to go to Freddie's or constantly call Freddie over to his. Hell, he could just keep burning dinner, forcing fireman Freddie to do his duty and come over to help put out the oven fires. Or they could have Roommate with baby (sorry, didn't get most of their names) need the place for herself, maybe a family member has to come live with her for a while so Freddie has to find somewhere else to stay and Frasier is conveniently right next door with a spare room. IDK the whole buying the building and forcing Freddie to move in was far too contrived for me to just handwave. Maybe if the writing/acting was better, but as it is, the rest of the show doesn't allow for such a big overlook.
  19. Wow, that was... not good. The laugh track was extremely distracting, mostly because it seemed nearly constant and there were very few moments that were funny enough to elicit that kind of laughter. The acting felt more like stage acting, where everyone was kind of shouting their lines to reach the cheap seats so, while I think there are some decent characters in there, as played, I didn't find any of them realistic. I feel like, plot wise, they were trying to shove a square peg into a round hole with a sledgehammer. On the plus side, like I said, the characters seem decent (the actors just need to take it down a few notches), I did find the scene at the end with just Frasier and Freddie (and no distracting laugh track) very touching, and I don't have Paramount + so I won't be watching any more of it. Oh, and Frasier's apt is nice, though I'm sure he'll ruin it with his horrible decorating style. (I hated the way his Seattle apt was decorated). OG Frasier never felt to me like a standard sitcom, it was one of those perfect blends of smart writing and a stellar cast that only come around very rarely. This version feels like every generic sitcom and I feel like the "jokes" could have been written by an AI chat bot. I don't think it would have an audience if it weren't for the Frasier brand name attached. I do hope that the actors settle into their characters and it improves but I'm sticking with OG Frasier, which I can still watch eps I've seen 5 times and laugh out loud.
  20. Just finished watching and yeah, I'm a bit annoyed that they just dropped the Spoon picture thing. Honestly, the ending felt like they expect to get a season 2 because it just sort of ended. Not necessarily a cliff hanger, but just abruptly, and with a lot of side stories feeling unfinished. The best thing about the show for me was the four main kids. The way they came together felt organic and their bond felt real. Great quartet of actors they got for the roles. The side characters too, Troy and his family, Sheera, etc, were all fine. It was the storyline that left me disappointed. It had potential to be a great story, the whole Underground Railroad for abused kids thing was really interesting. Tying it in with the Holocaust still doesn't quite work for me. It just felt unnecessary. Honestly, everything about Bat Lady was annoying. She almost came across as sadistic in the way she would give Mickey some info, but not really enough to answer his question, just enough to keep him invested, like dangling a carrot and snatching it away at the last second. If it does get a second season, I'll probably have forgotten about the show by then to be honest, but I didn't regret watching it, I was moved in parts (Spoon in the last couple eps had me tearing up), and I liked most of the characters (which is rare for me in a show about teens), I'm just not all that invested in the show. It was a good way to spend a few hours. And with all this obsessing over Mickey's father, I totally forgot his mother is still alive. At least I think she is. She's still in some kind of hospital/care home right? Ah, he doesn't care so why should I.
  21. Either that is a very, very long bridge or those cops have a very, very dull job. Guess that at least save on gas since they can't go far. haha
  22. It's the irony of wealthy, the more money you have the more loopholes your high priced accountants can find.
  23. Bridge cops? Are those like the trolls under a bridge only they are on top of it? Do they have jurisdiction over all bridges but once you make it across the bridge they have to hand you over to the road cops? So many questions. lol
  24. I don't recall them ever saying. He exists, as there is mention of him here and there, but I don't think they ever say why he's not around or where he actually is. I know that he's not on the show for behind the scenes' reasons, but not sure that in show they address where he is. I think they just hand wave it with yeah, he exists but he's out of town somewhere doing something.
