Pardon me. My cynicism is acting up. This is when I really wish there was a video recording. David might very well have said Olicity sidelined Diggle but the detailed post they linked to only mentions too much angst. This poster goes into specific Olicity references. What about Laurel and her arc because of Sara's death? What about Thea's arc? No angst for Oliver in either one of those arcs was there? (There was which makes me wonder if some assumptions were made. Hence my cynicism.) Was David unaware that S3 was going to be more drama and less action? Early in the season I thought they said that was the case. I thought the main reason Diggle was sidelined was to advance the costumed heroes? They had him hanging around the lair when he should have been in the field with them. There was no real reason for the writers not to put him in the field especially when Oliver was "dead". Ray/ATOM also took up screen time. I also thought the balance they are talking about is both action/drama and dark/light. The so-called rom-com didn't do anything to relieve the depressive nature of the show caused by Sara's death or Oiver's identity crisis.

In their eagerness for world-building, they gave this moment to Felicity with Barry on the Flash which was totally unfair to Arrow- only viewers.

I am sure after he was rescued he had to explain everything that happened on Lian Yu and how he was the only known survivor. Remember it was her 2-years in the making plan that he helped destroy destroyed. Payback for China White not being dead? All I could think of was that she needed people she considered expendable if they didn't succeed. People already thought he was dead. Hence my reference to the Suicide Squad or Task Force X. When you "recruit" people like Deadshot and Bronze Tiger you probably don't officially add them to the government's payroll.

Amanda Waller wanted Oliver because he was capable of killing per Maseo's conversation in HK in 3.22 when they went to see if Shrieve had a cure for the virus. I guess he proved so difficult to control that she simply had bombs implanted in her future assasins' heads.

The problem with the so-called precedence of Laurel wanting to help people more than her self is that in the S3 FB's Quentin has to GUILT Laurel into not going off to San Francisco (IIRC)to join a big prestigious law firm. Public law was not her first choice.

I think the Oliver/ Tatsu & Oliver/Maseo relationships were my favorite relationships in S3. Yes.

Another way of looking at it...he said Sandra and Connor. Perhaps we will get either Sandra or Connor. LOL! Is it possible they were planning on doing the storyline and WB/DC said not this season? They need to focus on the masked characters and launching LOT. Anything, specifically Oliver and Arrow related can take a back seat.

I don't know that he has ever outright lied. I also don't remember everything he says, so IDK. I think he says things which set expectations and when they don't materialize the way people thought they would they feel like they have been lied to. This is why Sandra and Connor Hawke not being in S4 doesn't mean baby mama & child won't show up in S4. People, including show actors, have assumed that is who they are. Do we even know for a fact -in show-that the baby is a boy? (I can't remember what she said in the Flash episode when she called.)
-
I was just wondering, since they have never given names in either show, if we are still getting the story but with characters who have different names for whatever reason. I think I am done with The Flash. I watched all 23 eps in S1 but between the way Felicity was written in her appearance with Ray, Cisco's nerdgasms over meeting BC, Joe's constant negative remarks about Oliver even though Arrow has been more than helpful in both 1.08 & 1.22, and the Tommying of Eddie in the finale I think I've had enough. (I don't usually read press about The Flash but I did read one AK interview after the finale. It was about Barry & Iris moving forward in S2 after Eddie's death. I swear it was word for word what he said about Oliver/Laurel in S2 after Tommy's death. The interviews are reruns!)

So, based on starcitysoul's ask and MG's answer, should I be pessimistic about S4 since the only character onscreen I have no use for is LL? ;) If Sandra and Connor Hawke aren't in S4 does that mean no baby/baby mama drama? Or does it mean there will be baby/baby mama drama in S4 but they won't be Sandra and Connor Hawke? Questions, questions... Go away MG.

I can't find the CD interview either. I assumed (HA!) when I read it that him being back in S4 was just an assumption on the part of the journalist since he was in S2 & S3. CD never said he would be returning for S4 in it.

I like KL a lot but why should Nyssa get so much story? Is she becoming a regular? Thea (WH) is a regular but she was only a bit player in her own arc in S3. Her arc seemed more about the Malcolm of it all and she was a plot point.

Malcolm Merlyn: Ra's al Dark Archer - Who's Your Daddy!
Sunshine replied to BkWurm1's topic in Characters of Arrow
JB has been talking like he is. The set-up in S3 was also that Ra's had a competitor for the title - Damian Dhark. -
IIRC, the LEO awards are only open to Canadians. SA & EBR are the only two actors who could be nominated. The shows are eligible in other categories because they are filmed in Vancouver. Just because she wasn't publicly congratulated doesn't mean she wasn't congratulated.

Aren't Emily, Colton & Willa doing a con at some point in France this summer?

I have to wonder how many of the S3 Felicity deleted scenes involve Ray. I was never a fan (don't care for BR) but I wonder if there are some deleted scenes out there that might have made their relationship make more sense. IMO, the love triangle was never Oliver/Felicity/Ray. It was Arrow/Oliver/Felicity. Felicity kept choosing Oliver even after she slept with Ray. The only time she didn't choose Oliver was when she thought he was gone forever. Tatsu had to change her mind. Oliver chose the Arrow right up until 3.23. At the end he chose Felicity.

Assuming Damien Darhk & HIVE are the big bad(s)of S4 you have at least 4 character tie-ins. Darhk was established as having lost the Ra's position to the guy Oliver defeated and having taken waters from the Lazarus Pit. Malcolm Merlyn: Reigning Ra's Al Ghul Oliver Queen: Defeated Ra's Al Ghul and handed the position to Malcolm Merlyn Diggle: His brother Andy's death was ordered by HIVE Felcity: Her dad may be involved with HIVE I hope Diggle & Felicity get more story than Malcolm.

In the case of 3.20, there were promo photos with Laurel & Oliver and the scene was cut. This has happened on a couple of occasions with other characters too. I know there was a Sara/Felicity one in S2. I wonder how many of Felicity's deleted scenes were with Ray? If there are a lot, it might explain why people were having trouble buying into that relationship.

I enjoyed the episode but the ending seems a little meh.

I wonder if Tatsu/Katana returns to SC to help in the Ra's takedown or is she just in flashbacks? She was removed from the cell before the gas was deployed. Maybe that is who Oliver says the dialogue tease to.
-
Yay! Some optimism! On another note, Oliver has to be talking to Nyssa which cues the call to Barry? Maybe marriage agrees with Oliver. He's usually not so quippy.
-
Based on SA's response to Charlotte Ross's birthday tweet, I really don't expect Felicity to give up on Oliver. Her maternal instinct was that Felicity loved Oliver. He said she would LOVE the finale. Felicity had to make a choice between two good men. She chose Oliver. The guy she didn't choose is giving her a company! The Porsche and sunset ride may or may not be a dream. It doesn't mean something good can't happen amongst the bad in the finale! I don't think marriage to Nyssa or a bromance break-up with Diggle is going to provide Oliver with a reason to smile in S4, although I guess not having to deal with Ra's might.
-
I wonder if as Ra's is explaining everything he is going to do, Nyssa makes some kind of move which leads to her clash with her father. Oliver has his "I am Oliver Queen" moment to stop it and then plane crashes, malfunctions, whatever throwing everyone off balance. Oliver and Nyssa get clear and go to PT. Everyone goes out to try to stop the INSTRUMENTS OF DEATH. Thea teams up with Diggle, Laurel, Nyssa, Ray try to save the day. Oliver goes after Ra's. Cue scene on dam which looks like Oliver vs Ra's. Ra's give an EPIC speech. Cue duel to the death.
