  1. The comments are interesting. All congratulations and "Duggar girls take note". Only one dissenting opinion, who voices concern that with her newfound career, Whitney will not be able to homeschool. Also asks isn't Zach's salary and the UP money enough? On a shallow note, even if she only sells one or two houses a year, it will be enough to keep her in clothes and pretty things. Her instagram shows that she does like to dress nicely. And maybe the baby train will slow down for them...
  2. I must confess I have not seen the show, but I just saw a screencap from the gown shopping episode and the polka dot gown Joy tried on was absolutely gorgeous on her. Why did she not pick it? A million times better than her pick and it fit her perfectly.
  3. I like Kendra's dress on her except I find the neckline a bit too high. Not saying it had to be plunging, but I think a modest scoop as opposed to a crew neck would have been more attractive. There is just something about the high neck-cap sleeve combo that bothers me in general- not just on this specific dress. It reminds me of the breastplate on a suit of armor.
  4. Maybe because her mother puts baby lotion on it? She does have the super high Duggar forehead. Give the poor girl some bangs. Some people just have thin hair. I have to wonder if they cut it because it does seem quite short compared to what Jennifer and Jordyn's hair looked like when they were 7.
  5. Oh dear... pass the brain bleach please! ;D
  6. I really hate to say this but Julia is beginning to get on my nerves ever so slightly. She is bringing back memories of Ruby with the manufactured drama, sitting there with her face in her hands and all. Everyone struggled with the caramel, but she has been pretty strong overall. I read her bio and evidently she quit her job to concentrate on baking so I guess she is very serious about winning, but still... I thought Russians were supposed to be tough and stoic, especially if they come from Siberia... ;P
  7. The dress is bad enough, but the "modesty insert" is the icing on the cake.
  8. Maybe Kendra's mother actually cooks. And takes care of her own kids. From what I have seen Kendra is more articulate than the Duggar spawn, so she have had better home schooling. Or did she go to some Christian school?
  9. I just watched the wedding. Same old, same old. Just plug in a new bride and groom. Some observations: Judging from the pictures shown at the beginning, Joe has had the same high hairline since he was a little boy. Maybe he isn't actually losing his hair, he just has a fivehead. Tried to get a look at Michelle's feet to see if she was wearing the God-awful shoes but couldn't get a good view. Why don't the bridesmaids ever wear matching color shoes? The dresses were actually quite nice but the shoes just messed up the look. I really do not like "Butterfly Kisses" It seemed odd to hear it during the ceremony, but of course, there was no father-daughter dance. (When our only daughter got married last year, my husband spent months looking for a song for the father-daughter dance. He finally chose "Walk With You" by Edwin McCain. ) FWIW, the stupid pranks probably are the Duggar's version of the traditional best man speech and toast, which usually has a few laughs at the expense of the groom. Also, hopeless immaturity.
  10. Am I the only one who finds a heavy looking metal barbell that close to a newborn to be really scary? What if the baby jerked and it started to roll? Unless it has been photoshopped... But these are the DUGGARS, and common sense is scarce.
  11. I have had the tv on Fixer Upper all morning. Not actively watching- just for some background noise. But seriously, if I never see Chip's jiggly bare belly again it will be too soon. Enough already! Add me to the list of those who miss the earlier episodes when we saw the whole house renovation.
  12. The other issue, which doesn't exactly apply for the Duggars, is that, in the real world, kids move away from home to other states, provinces, cities, etc. I have 4 brothers. We are scattered all over Canada and the US. Two live in the same area as my mother, and, sadly, the majority of the "work" falls on them. Not that we all don't want to help, but we just can't physically be there. The day is fast approaching when she will no longer be able to live on her own. It is a worry. I would gladly pay to see that!
  13. I do not know what goes on behind closed doors at the Vuolo residence. But for now I see Jinger looking happy, living far away from her crazy parents, freed from her child rearing duties, wearing pants, and almost a year into her marriage without a baby or pregnancy announcement. It's all good.
  14. I just have to say that 3 weeks in and I am pleasantly surprised. The format remains the same and as much as I liked Mel, Sue, and Mary, I find that I am not really missing them as much as I thought I would. I like Sandi and Noel. They seem to be a bit less boisterous than Mel and Sue, but that is not a bad thing. While no one can replace Mary, Prue is pleasant enough. And Paul seems a bit more mellow this year. Really, it is all about the bakers, and this year they seem to be a good group. There is really no one who gets on my nerves. Bread week? I guess it is hard to come up with new ideas. Squid ink bread and beetroot bread do not appeal to me at all. The sculptures were fun, but I found myself missing Paul and his lion.
  15. If they are going to Texas to "help" my guess is they are bringing bibles. Because people who have lost literally EVERYTHING need to have a bible to read . Then Jesus will provide everything else!
  16. Jill? Maybe, especially if the speculation is true and she can't have any more kids. Jessa? I get the impression Princess Jessa likes being the only female in the household. Maybe if she has a couple more sons she will want a helper.
  17. A thousand times yes to this! As I recall, Joy was not academically inclined. The thought of her homeschooling her kids is just terrifying. Now THAT'S horrifying. The instagram announcement with its blatant pro-life message makes me see red. Nothing like using your "good news" to put down others who have had to make a difficult choice.
  18. How disappointing. She's just a kid, really naive, and not a "mature" 19 year old. As I recall she did not get all gushy and involved when Michelle was dropping a baby every year. I have to wonder how she will be as a mother. All of her spunk was drained out of her. I don't know these people and I have my own kids to focus on but I still find this news makes me incredibly sad.
  19. But seriously, would WalMart take him back? He wasn't exactly a stellar employee. I suspect that he did not resign voluntarily. And honestly, even with his mom's connections I doubt they would take him back. For that matter, any business would probably look at his resume and have some serious reservations. What I don't understand is why he did not choose theology/seminary school instead of accounting in the first place. He did go to Nepal pre-Jill, so the desire to do missionary work was there. But after the wedding he slowly became indoctrinated into the cult and its grifting practices.
  20. There are still a bunch of nasty comments on his instagram page. Guess he has not had time to delete them yet...
  21. The mac and cheese pizza at CiCi's is surprisingly good.
  22. Probably going to hell for this but I think the main reason that these kids aren't getting the help they need is simply because it is too much trouble. Speech and occupational therapies are time consuming, and need to be scheduled on a regular basis. That would interfere with other family activities and that's why it will never happen. Because church "social stuff" and date nights and weekends for mom and dad are just so much more important than getting your kids the help they need. I have an 18-year old nephew with special needs. He has therapists come to the house every day after school. While he will never be self-sufficient, my brother and his wife are doing everything in their power to give him the tools to achieve as much as he possibly can. It would be so easy and much less expensive to let him watch tv and do legos every day, but they refuse to take the easy road.
  23. I had such high hopes when Derick arrived on the scene. Sigh...
  24. Is there even going to be a TOC? Seems like a long time since the last one...
  25. Totally agree! Josie's facial features are actually very similar to Michelle's. The wispy blonde hair and high forehead do not do her any favors.
