I find it decidedly unfunny since I divulged the very important information I had to help village and in the process LEFT MYSELF NO ESCAPE PLAN.

Sympathies, that was a tough spot to be in.

Let me make it up to you:

Who's a good boy then! C'mon, walkies!

I think I've still got some Scooby Snacks left over from a few games ago. They might be a bit stale, but you're welcome to 'em. 🙂

Thanks for the game @SVNBob!

Not being able to scheme with the other wolf/wolves was tough. I figured that Mark must have turned Drogo when he claimed villager and didn’t immediately rat me out.

The hardest part was actually meet trouble’s silence. Was she insomniac? Was she minion and CP the robber turned wolf? Or was she robber and CP minion as advertised?  I did really think that our best chance was that CP robbed a wolf and that MT was minion, and I happily joined the MT DL hoping for a 5-5 at worst and maybe even a split vote from the village at best.

Also, insomniac was an unfortunate unclaimed role because there’s no logical reason for a wolf to say two days later, “I’m the insomniac and woke up as insomniac!”

A wolf getting swapped seems like really bad news for team wolf in most scenarios.

The great thing about these ONUW games is the sting is over quickly.  And you can't feel too dumb because there's just about nothing you can do if you end up with a bad hand and sometimes the hand is soooo bad... ex: if @The Crazed Spruce had swapped @MarkHB with me but the latter hadn't Wolfed me up?  Mark would've just said "Oh good because I was a Wolf, kill Drogo"/game over.

How does it feel your first time as a baddie, @JTMacc99?  You done good here!

@SVNBob thank you as always for a refreshing game- I always think I can hear you giggling at our stupidity and misfortunes.  For example: when I got back my first investigation (SS) I said to myself "Self, you're lucky you didn't find a wolf" yet went for the second one (LC) pretty sure I'd end up a wolf... but I didn't end up a wolf...  until I did!

Those can be nice just to get the win, but they're not a lot of fun from a gaming perspective.

Thanks, SVNBob!

Thanks for another great game, Bob! And I really am sorry that I completely flaked on everyone, especially you, Bob, because I don't do that.

I wasn't kidding when I said that m. caprice's nephew is here for a two-week visit. m. caprice surprised us with an overnight trip to Chicago and we left right after I found out that my robbery attempt became a switch with the witch (which amused me almost as much as it did Bob).

Wednesday afternoon, we were driving back when I suddenly remembered that I hadn't brought even my iPad to participate in the game. I was so desperate to let y'all know I was an idiot that I texted HM and asked him to pop in to see what the what was. I added my status, but I must not have made my text sound as urgent as I'd felt since he didn't check on the game.

Not his problem.

Fortunately (?) Silver saw my explanation as true and we were able to nab us a wolf. 🙂

What a fantastic game. I had myself doubting who I was right up until I cast my vote, and even then, I wasn't sure if I was a Wolf or not. But I figured out in the end that sticking with A1 was my best bet, so that's what I did.

Great job to everyone else, as well!

I appreciate you answering my endless stream of questions,

You're quite welcome.  I welcome questions at anytime, either in thread or PM.  During a game, I may be cagey or speak in generalities so as to not give any extra information away.  But once it's over, I can be as clear and specific as needs be.

Oh I was giggling; mainly at the irony of particular situations and statements.  Or when some of you do the right thing for the wrong reason.

Technically, you were already a wolf when you did those.  Mark's bite preceded your investigations.

It of course bothers me that I couldn’t figure out how to win. Heh.

I’m still trying to use 20/20 hindsight to see if I had a chance. I think maybe if I had claimed to be Robber right after Mark claimed villager, and then verified Drogo as PI, that could have worked. Then I could have thrown A1 under the bus and speculated that CP was wolf pretending to be minion. By the time the real Robber showed up, everybody might have been like, “yeah, right.”

Got it!  If we went back to the day before the game where Bob asked "Werewolves or Villains?" and said "Villains" we would've had a chance for the Family Man to vote with us and get majority.  You can't really play "out" as WW in the Werewolf version, because no one's win condition aligns with yours.

Looking forward to the next round!

That one will probably be back to the Super Villains.  And it'll either come after the Guardians game, or in the middle if events around that game call for a break, like what happened during Pirates.

In that case...

Greetings, True Believers!  It's time to start sign-ups for Issue #3 of ONUSV.  Once again, the Dastardly Trio will attempt to evade capture by the heroes of SCOOP.

In this parallel universe, there may be some changes to the powers roster.  But what changes may come will depend entirely on how many players we have.  Don't worry; you'll all know what roles are in play before the start.

Sign-ups will probably stay open through most of Monday, with PMs likely to go out on Tuesday.

So the last attempt at an issue of ONUSV got sucked into a wormhole by the Mad Scientist.  He and the Intern are still busy trying to fix that.

While they're doing that, shall we have another round without them involved?

I don't think I've ever played a one night, count me in.

It's fun! I'd say it's sort of like Mafia in that there are good guys and bad guys, and people have an "action" they can do during the one night. But after that, it's more like a puzzle you have to figure out. Who did what? What did that mean to me? I know I started out as one thing, but did I finish the night that way?

Sounds like fun!

Oh, and thanks for adding me to the list of names.

Doesn't look like there's anyone else who wants to play, so we're going to go with just the 6.

That means the cast of roles will also be smaller than previous games.  The Mad Scientist is already out (still busy trying to fix that wormhole...).  Having the Family Man would probably be too much for such a small cast, so he'll be out as well.  That leaves a straight battle between SCOOP and the Trio.

But the Trio will be down a member.  The Rapscallion will not be in play; just Dr. Peeker and the Temptress (which means Henchman #7 will also be in play.)

On the Hero side, Voodoo Lou will also be sitting this one out.  (Think of it as him in charge of transporting the Rapscallion to prison.)

Which means that the roles and powers for this game are:

  1. The Dastardly Trio go first, in a semi-co-ordinated effort.  They all know at least some of what the others do.
    1. The Temptress (if active) can choose any other player and turn them into another Villain.  She does not get to find out which hero they were in the process.
    2. Dr. Peeker (if active) may secretly look at the role of any other player.
    3. Henchman #7 (if active) is considered part of the Trio, but has no powers.
  2. The Evil-ometer detects villainy nearby (either directly above or below on the list of players (with wrapping)).  Not exactly who, but will know the proximity.  The Dastardly Trio will find out who the Evil-ometer is as she does this.
  3. The Annoying Lad annoys one of their neighbors (either directly above or below on the list of players (with wrapping)), as proof of his heroic identity.  The person "annoyed" will know that they were annoyed, but not which of their neighbors for sure did the annoying.
  4. The Detector uses her high-powered electromagnetic detection field to determine the role of either one other player, or any two of the unclaimed roles.
  5. Role Retriever retrieves the role of another player.  The other player is now the Role Retriever, and the former Retriever can now see their new role (but they do not get to act as that new role.)
  6. Switcheroo may blindly swap the role of any two players other than himself.
  7. Self-Awareness Girl checks her role at the end of the night, so she is aware of who she actually is.

That does leave one role unaccounted for though.  This time, that will be the Innocent Bystander.  As an un-powered citizen, they sleep all night but vote to aid SCOOP in the capture of one of the Dastardlies.

That's how it'll go unless there's any objections to the roster, and/or more decide to join in before I start sending out PMs in a few hours.
