S06.E03: A Bridge Not Quite Far Enough

Recommended Posts

Good episode, lots of fun. I enjoyed the family bonding stuff.

I'm not enjoying Sacani right now, I know everyone here is going to blame Divya but he could man up and say something. Hell, if he's too much of an emotional wuss to bring it up to her directly then talk to Hank or Evan and have them do the dirty work.

The family bonding stuff left me cold, probably because I've always disliked Eddie and Henry Winkler's portrayal of him. The breathless, fake bonhomie is repulsive. If he's aiming for double-talking oily grifter, he's spot on.

The cheap irony that Eddie's grifter DNA was passed on to Emma... Well, who cares? What will the writers come up with that can possibly make this predictable story fresh?

On the other hand, the patient of the week was enjoyable. I like Diane Farr in any role and she was great with recruiting Hank into her stakeouts. More fun like this, please!

Divya and her separation anxieties? Zzzzzzz.

How many episodes will it take for Jeremiah to share a late lunch with his waitress? I too would like to see Jeremiah man up, but it's just not his nature. He exhibits OCD and perhaps Asperger's; any change in the way he relates to people will be slow and incremental at best, IMO. Allowing Divya and her baby into his home is extraordinary progress and a testament to how deeply he can feel, even if he can't express it.

exactly my thought.  I have this awful feeling that Emma will end up as Divya's nanny.  And then Emma's grifter mama will show up and swindle someone out of money for a big cliff hanger ending.

I am also one of those that does not care for the Eddie character.  It is funny how no one has brought up is abandonment of Hank and Evan and their mother when she got ill to the new "sister".  Especially during the deadbeat dad discussion.

It was brought up, however briefly, last week, when the boys had Emma over for dinner. Evan apologized for Eddie's walking out, telling her, "we know... we've been there." And even this week, Eddie admitted he initially handled things so badly with Emma because he couldn't bear the idea that he'd abandoned a third child while they were growing up.

And Jeremiah's new bartender friend is named... Vivia. Seriously.

I'm afraid of something worse-it won't even be that interesting. This show has been a real snooze-another episode where nothing happened and it was totally unmemorable.

I like Diane Farr as an actress, but the situation was meh. Only part I enjoyed was the interaction between Jeremiah and the waitress-of course something will develop, but his character has been so boring that I can't see her really being interested.

Love seeing Henry Winkler but I have zero interest in Emma and her storyline.

Hope Jeremiah dates the bartender/waitress and Divya goes back to her own place.

Love seeing Hank/Evan and Paige but where is Boris???

What?  Really?  I just can't with that.

I wouldn't mind Jeremiah having a little romance with the waitress...that could be very sweet if it looks like she can truly appreciate him for who he is.  I just hope it doesn't turn into some kind of horrible disappointment for him, because he's clearly becoming smitten with her.

I still hate Emma and that whole story line.  What did Evan reveal to Paige at the end?  Did he pay Emma to pretend she didn't know how to ride a bike and spend time with Eddie?

Where did smart Paige go???? didn't she used to have her own brain?? Now she thinks it's a good idea to encourage Evan's antics, and rationalize that he PAID his sister to hang out with her father? Between this and the rudeness she displayed to the shopkeep last week, they'd better be building up to a genetic mental illness from her mother for her complete change of character.

DIVYA, girlfriend, PLEASE. I almost (almost..) miss Jill, who would tell her to get the F out and find her own place! SHE KNOWS that Jeremiah is/was in love with her, and it's so awful of her to stay and shove it in his face.

GAH. i do love the fluffiness of this show and the Hamptons porn, but they need to step up. and WHERE IS MRS. NEUBERGER???

Since the start, Hank has only been interested in working cases week to week with none of the other crap. And that's fine. This was a quirky case, but I don't have a problem with it.

Not soon enough. He needs friends outside of Divya baby drama and Lawson family drama.

I don't mean to get all hippie, but the phrase 'man up' needs to be retired. He's a widely respected research doctor and is now the CMO of a successful private medical practice. He's not a slob, doesn't treat people like shit. Hank treated him like shit at the least and demanded unethical practice from him at the worst last year, and he's man enough to put that behind him and move forward. I don't know how much more of a man he can be. He's obviously not going to ask Divya to leave because it's clear he cares about her and just won't throw him out.

I have zero to say about the Lawson family drama because it is interminably boring.

WHERE IS MRS. NEUBERGER???

Yes!

I miss her--there were a couple of recurring patients that were fun like her....I miss that.

I'm already tired of the Emma storyline.  Is it her presence that seems to be sucking the smarts out of Paige?

I don't want Jeremiah to end up with the waitress.  I want him to take care of the Divya thing first--however, I don't think he'll kick her out.  *sigh*

Love the Hamptons porn.  Liked the "martini pneumothorax save."

A bit disappointed over the writing of Divya and her obsession with the baby.  A bit over the top for a PA or doctor. Just looked silly. And Divya not moving out is another weak point.  They just need a good story line but having the independent woman overstaying her stay with Jeremiah is a mistake.

I don't understand Jeremiah and his running in the opposite direction about the baby yet he professes that he wants them to stay.  I did love it when he screamed into the pillow.

As a relatively new mom myself, I can definitely relate to Divya's worries and fears about leaving her child with someone else and returning to work full time-- though of course it was taken to the extreme with Divya's nanny bringing the child to her, while she was at work (and then being nanny-poached, of course). However, this brings up a most salient point-- if Divya can get this awesome nanny who is presumably being paid a lot of money for said job, gone through background checks (and Divya hired a PI to look at her)... why the hell is she still living with Jeremiah?!

As for the rest... I can honestly say I don't care. This show has become something I watch and enjoy as summer fluff, but can't muster the brain power to really care about or get that irate about (unless there's something that is really driving me batty). I'm not really all that interested in Emma, but I hope that there are no more surprises about her, because I'm already tired of the "but wait, there's something else!!" that seems to have come up in the last two episodes.

Love Jeremiah and Paige, so I hope that they get some good plotlines this season.

Pretty manipulative of Divya to put the burden on Jeremiah to kick her out. Doesn't she have a place? How long does it take to get rid of mold?

I had this same question. That apartment should be ready by now. If age has to find something new, she should have enough money to do so. Isn't Rafa paying child support?

Sadly, this show is at the bottom on  my list now.  I almost laughed when the guy went down in the restaurant and Dr. Wonderful jumped to the rescue - again.  Have we not seen enough of the pen being used to save a life?  A collapsed lung?  How novel.  We do sit there and I try to guess how many minutes it will be before someone crashes to the floor.  Maybe  the show is getting too old for me.

I do love to watch for the fashion though.  The jewelry is great.

Divya was so passive aggressive with her asking Jeremiah if they were overstaying their welcome. Of course you are! Find a place and maybe have your parents watch your daughter if you can't find a nanny? Her mom doesn't work, right? So ridiculous.

Emma is annoying, just like her father.

Loved Dianne Farr. Can she become a recurring character?
