Selling Sunset - General Discussion

Emma is growing on me. I love her on this date with the cricket-snacker.

But $720 for a vegan empanada is steep.

I feel like I am journaling about Selling Sunset.

I only started watching because Ronnie and Ben mentioned that they recap it.

They describe Mary walking as if her head keeps trying to catch up to her body, and I see it.

I am rooting for most of these women. They are likable!

They are sweet and self-conscious with guys. Confident but not arrogant (see, de Lesseps, Luann, The Real Housewives of New York).

Law-abiding (see, Girardi, Erika, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills).

Oh. My. Gosh. Mary is EXCEPTIONAL talking to/laying down the law with Christine about her lack of professionalism.

It’s also so funny that Mary is wearing an outfit that is appropriate for a Wes Anderson film set in September, and Christine is wearing an outfit that an extra in the Barbie movie would wear at a clambake.

This is a great show!

The producers realize that we don’t constantly need cat fights or mean girls in order to enjoy this.

Christine plays the villain well. It’s entertaining but not over the top.

I love how they seem to try to be competing for Most Inappropriate Office/Showing Outfit.

Well, Chelsea has definitely cemented her status as the new "Christine" in season 8. That's not a good thing. I kind of miss the old office.

ETA: not enough real estate porn in this season either, but what there was, was pretty nice.

I wonder what happened to the blonde from down South that Jason hired last season.

I'm on episode 4 and like the new agent so far (Alanna?). She's married, but I could see Jason (or the other one - I can't tell the difference) being attracted to her.

Chelsea comes off very desperate and pathetic to me.  She dresses to show off her body all the time.  I think she figures her body is her best trait.  She loves to talk about being a strong and confident business woman.  But that is not the way she comes off at all.  She is always dressed so inappropriate for her job.

Niko...  sniff sniff...

Well, season 8 has finally given us a winner.  It's..... Chelsea!  As we know, all of these ladies have dressed in a manner that 99% of clients and other real estate agents would deem inappropriate (except for Maya and maybe Davina in the earlier seasons).  But we are in Selling Sunset world where the rules are different.  It's interesting to know that there is a line in Selling Sunset world and apparently the line is half an inch from flashing your woo hah to the whole world.  I thought Mary was unfairly chastised for speaking up to Chelsea.

I'm currently on Episode 5 and so far I like the new girl Alanna.  I'm still trying to figure out the whole Pioneertown thing.  Has anyone been there?  From what I've read, her husband is in hospitality and events planning.  So I'm wondering if the two of them actually own the town outright or if maybe her husband's company owns the town and they two of them are investors.

Just watched the part where Bre walked Jason and Romain through her houses issues.  While I know surprises do occur in real estate sales, I'm not sure I would have a ton of confidence in Bre as a real estate agent after knowing the fact that she purchased a home with so many issues.

Do you mean how it looked like black hair dye was leaking from her head? Because I thought that too but it turned out she was wearing a headband with this weird scrap of lace/veil type material attached to it.

Someone PLEASE tell me what was going on with Crishell’s hair at Niko’s funeral???

(RIP little Niko).

Thanks KristenR! I had rewatched the scene looking for a veil but couldn’t make it out.

I know we've talked about Amanza's lack of listings but does Nicole actually sell real estate? We've never seen her ring the bell, host a brokers open, or even talk about clients. Instead she seems to the resident shit-stirrer.

Shocked, but I've actually warmed to like Bre and believe her on the Chelsea situation. I guess I just prefer someone who's direct vs. constant hints and innuendos. Plus, she wasn't lying about how it went down. And, I don't like Chelsea.

Not sure what to think about Emma other than I agree that Nicole making allegations all season behind her back without giving her a chance to defend herself was shady as hell.

Really like newbie Alanna and hope she sticks around.

Also, what in the latex domme outfit is Chelsea wearing in her talking heads? 😅

She’s a gorgeous Naomi Campbell-adjacent woman. I don’t know what the styling is about aside from reality TV drama.

I couldn't get the quote feature to work right.

I agree she doesn't dress professionally but most of them wear skimpy clothes. I'm assuming it's for TV and they don't really dress like this on appointments. I've seen Emma, Amanda, Chrishelle and Mary also wearing revealing clothes. Chelsea is probably the worst though.

All of them look completely ridiculous - like they escaped from stripper clown school. I've noticed that when they are newer to the show, they dress more normally and then ramp things up as they progress to later seasons. It's like they're all in competition to see who can be more outlandish. I'm wondering if Alanna is going to ditch her (comparatively) more conservative dress style if she sticks around.

Speaking of Alanna, looks like she got into hot water by claiming she was an "owner" of Pioneer town: https://people.com/selling-sunset-alanna-gold-apologizes-for-pioneertown-claim-8710005

Not sure what motivated her to do that, since it's something so easily fact-checked (and called out on). Other than that, so far, I actually quite like her.

I'm bummed that I've already finished another season of this trashy show - I feel like I'm going into withdrawal! Does anyone know if there's a second part that will drop later, or is that it for now?

I am only on episode two. Usually there isn't a second part, so I think this is it. But maybe Selling the OC will come back soon? I like that one too.

We are in the process of preparing our house for sale, although it won't be until next year. If our realtor showed up dressed like one of these women (especially Chelsea), I would not sign with her. I'd assume she is more focused on her appearance than selling our house.

Nicole is actually the top sales realtor at The Oppenheim Group and has been for several years.

Mary tends to get "bigger" listings as in more expensive houses, but Nicole outsells all the agents.

Ironically it's probably why we don't see her sell. Her legitimate clients probably don't want to be on camera. That and she doesn't have as much time to film as the others.

So is this “office” basically just a tv set? Because there is no way this is a real office where real realtors actually work. And there is no way any of the someone are actually realtors.

I’ve somehow made it to E4, and Amanza is just embarrassing. Whoever is dressing this crew clearly does not like her and wants her to look like a fool. And her interior designer skills are lacking to put it kindly.

And are we still harping on Chrishells magical lesbianism that coincidentally collided with her reality tv career takeoff? Get over yourself girl, nobody cares. As soon as the cameras stop rolling you’ll be back to screwing men with big wallets.

I thought the brother left this trainwreck to work elsewhere? I wouldn’t hire any of these women to clean my house let alone sell it. How is this good for business?

OMG. I'm on E2 and I can't believe what Chelsea is wearing... or NOT wearing! Is she serious? As Nicole said, where are her pants? She'd wear that to a professional event?

The woman is an exhibitionist.

Brett and Jason looked so uncomfortable during the conversation about Chelsea's outfit. They looked like they wanted the earth to swallow them.

It's a real office. When they aren't filming the other realtors (those not on the show) use the space as an office. The cast of the show is a fraction of the total employees who work there.
