And what the hell is wrong with Doris? She's more mean and hideous than all the other rich moms combined. I just want to call CPS and protect her kids. Here is the situation for both Greg and Katie, they should have been: "We will get you there, you have a one in a million shot, but at least take your chance." While this showed how Taylor isn't "book smart" the way they have portrayed her character the last few years. She is either oblivious or so stupid she can't tie her shoes. Yet, Greg and Katie are: "Everyone should go to college?" No, not everyone "goes to college", but do they have the right to try? Oh yes! Plus, really, Greg and Katie wouldn't have done their research on schools? What happen to your tenure Greg and all this crap you do for things no one else cares about so you have more financial security? I hate to be your financial planner. There are plenty of hardass music teachers who would do what Katie actually was thinking of. Not just in a squelch your dreams way. In an "ok you wanna do this, you're going to learn for real" way, and then she'd be actually studying voice and potentially learning how far she had to go with technique and whatnot. I mean, I get it, sitcom, so...hjinx but it took me out of it because it was preposterous when it didn't need to be. The one-note joke was pun intended very one-note. Also, you do have to just wonder at what point do all these "rich" wives can throw money before their husbands who actually bring the money go: "ok, enough of this crap!" We are just to think: they throw money at their wives, don't want to have sex with them because they are all trophies wives, but any other "normal" town would have kicked them to the curb or they would have been arrested or hit with restraining orders. Even at the end when Greg and Katie were seeing how much school was going to cost them, you just wanted to go: "Really? Like duh! Do you ever look things up?" It's like when Oliver goes at Greg about his passions and things about recycling are BS. Yet, does he ever look up the facts or anything? Of course not, he just is: "How dare you question stuff I love!" It's never: "Oliver... why do you have to just shit on all the stuff I enjoy like your mother. That's what I mean. I hate it when TV shows do that for the sake of the plot, especially given that Greg TEACHES at a university and that was the big deal the previous two years getting tenure. I was like: "Community college until she can realize that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west." They show has tried too hard to make Taylor being talent in one thing and then shocking she knows how to put her shirt on and not backwards. Still, Greg's children can probably get free tuition in the college where he works, so I don't know why he's not helping them with gaining admission (Real help. Not like what's in the news lately). You know the writers don't research that, or just play it up with: "The audience doesn't know." It was like when he was trying to get tenure by getting his book published that luckily Spencer did by accident by buying every copy. However... then they stick him in some former janitor closet? If tenure was offered at a university, you don't get stuck in some broom closet office. Yes, many older colleges have offices that need to get with it that it's the 21st century, but that also requires MONEY. Plus, why is Greg always at these fairs and stuff? If he is a college professor, he should be writing papers or doing journal research or at the least writing lesson plans. They act like doesn't do anything, but get a check and makes less than $40K. 1 Link to comment

She can hold a tune and probably can get to the second round of AI, but my opinion is that her voice doesn't stand out and kind of monotonous. The problem is, the episode fell between shameful promotion of AI and Greg and Katie stuck in a very box thinking way. Doesn't help with Doris's tons of money throw out to get a teacher who would have basically been arrested for what they did. The episode comes off as: "Who are these characters?" because the only one who made sense was Taylor the entire time. Link to comment
