No, she shouldn't have taken some of it back.  She should have just lived with her decision.

I agree she shouldn't take any back but since she was going to anyway, she could have left some.

I also agree she can be hypocritical. Like eating meat when she got dumped, and wanting leather pants (that may be the writers falling on the job though). Didn't she also wear fur once?

Or when she yells at Rachel for using a corporate massage parlor (for lack of better thing to call it) while all the time she is working there.

Yeah, I don’t fault Phoebe for working there because hey, she needed the job, but that’s where she should just just shut the hell up. But instead, Rachel gets that coupon and she throws down the gauntlet about it. No, Phoebe. Let it go.

I do like the one where she and Rachel go to the literary class and Rachel slacks, so Phoebe throws her under the bus and tells her that Jane Eyre is about robots.

Yeah, that was funny, but a little unbelievable that she didn't take the lifeline the teacher gave her with feminism.  That should have been her first clue that Phoebe was full of it.

It's clear that I think Phoebe is the worst Friend of all 6.  (my least favourite, but also the actual worst friend).  I think arguments could be made for Joey, Monica (evidence: housing and support), Chandler (evidence: financial and support) and Ross all being extremely good friends.  Joey is just really loyal and caring and in touch with his emotions.  Ross gives father/big brother energy to everyone and tries to get them to do the right thing.

I hate admitting this, because she's my favourite, but perhaps Rachel is the 5th worst "Friend" to the rest.  😁. NOWHERE as bad as Phoebe, but I think her friends just like her because she's so easy-going and amenable (evidence: Monica pushing her around, evidence: being able to live with Monica, Joey, AND Phoebe).

That was a great episode all around. The literary class, Ross' sandwich, Joey the sex addict...for me, season 5 is probably tied with season 4 as the best 2 seasons of the show.

Don't forget the "They know we know they know we know!" episode.

I don't know if it's that episode or the episode right before it where Phoebe sees Chandler and Monica from across the street in Ugly Naked Guy's (soon to be Ross's) apartment and screams my eyes my eyes.  Makes me literally LOL every single time I see it.

Elizabeth was too young for Ross but strangely, I think she was one of his best love interests. She took all his controlling and crazy shit in stride. Like the dinner with him, Rachel and her dad. Her lack of reaction to the stories about all his ex wives told me that she already knew and was cool with it. Plus there was the scene where she and Ross are making out, he stops to say that he was thinking about her Dad and her response was, “Well, whatever works for you…” Hee.

I liked Elizabeth too, even though that relationship was doomed to fail (and probably should have). I wish they hadn't ended it quite so abruptly, but whatever.

The scene in his office where he reads in the handbook that a relationship with a student is against the rules is a riot.

"It's true, I can't date you or have a hotplate in my office."

Then, after the "taboo" gets them worked up and they start making out:

"Let's also get a hotplate!" *more making out commences*

She was supposed to be young.  i thought she looked 20-21 which is what I think she was supposed to be.

Yes, I am aware of what age people are when they're in college.

My point is that she simply looked too young for Ross and it squicked some of us out.  Some people look even younger than their age and some people look older.  Someone who looked older could have worked better.  My opinion.

I love that one too!! (that's actually the same episode as Ross's sandwich :D )

And then comes Monica being the exact type of student you'd expect her to be...

I was in the grocery store today and checked my list and saw that I forgot to get Pam and while I was going back to that aisle I said to myself “the Pam” and started giggling.  Alone, in the cooking oil aisle.

Imagine my even greater amusement when I literally just turned on Nick at Nite and that episode is on.

Chandler and Monica got married in Manhattan, did they not? I'm baffled why all 6 friends were checking out of a hotel the next morning. I get why the bride and groom would book a hotel for their wedding night, but we actually see the others checking out as well. (Joey watched porn and the girls got billed for it.) I feel like I'm missing something.

Staycation?

Someone figured out based on the exterior shots used that the hotel was The Pierre, which, yes, is located in Manhattan.

It's also insanely expensive, but hey, Monica was able to afford her apartment, so I suppose I'll just suspend my disbelief...

That’s a really dick move.

I completely agree!

(this might be tainted by the fact that I REALLY hate Joey)

In the later seasons, most of them had good paying jobs. Only Phoebe was possibly still strapped for cash.

Fair point- I hadn't considered that.

She did have the job at the corporate massage place, but it's never made clear when she first GOT that job.

And I loved that storyline because it was several episodes of what seemed to be a serious dramatic play, only for it to end with “I’m gonna get on this spaceship!…”

The thing that does it for me is Lauren (the understudy) hamming it up the entire time.

"So this is it, Victor?!" has become a family joke for me now!

That occurred to me too, Phoebe might’ve gotten that corporate massage job and thus could pay for a hotel staycation like the rest of them could.

Also Elizabeth IRL is 44 years old now and I don’t know how I feel about that.

You wanna really freak out? The twins that played Emma in the last season are 20!

I never understood when Joey would have had the time to go to Monica and  Chandler’s room, Rachel and Phoebe’s room and Ross’ room to watch dirty movies. Assuming he stayed at the reception until close to the end, he would have needed an extra 4-6 hours and key cards to all of their rooms to watch the movies. Never made sense to me. I doubt if a hotel lets you charge movies to someone else’s room.

He doesn't have to watch the whole movie to incur the charge, though.  Let's say he cut out from the reception a little early.  He goes to Monica and Chandler's room assuming he had time to watch a movie. He orders a movie, watches 5 minutes,  hears them coming back, opens the door and says he was getting their room ready for them.  He then heads to Phoebe an Rachel's room and does the same thing.  And finally Ross's room (were they not sharing a aroom? Why not?).  All this requires is the other friends stagger their return times about 15 minutes which isn't all that unbelievable.

I live in Manhattan and got married in Manhattan and got hotel rooms for myself, the bridesmaids, and family;  and a separate hotel for the Groom and groomsmen. It just made things easier, yes, but it also made it more special.  So this never bothered me.

Still don’t buy it. Joey is lazy and by the end of the show really stupid. Don’t believe he would concoct some scheme to get all their keys or that he would go from room to room eating from the minibar and watching a few minutes of a movie. Also don’t buy any of them letting Joey in their room if he has his own. They all also seemed puzzled about the movie which they wouldn’t be if they had given Joey the card for their room.

I was just part of a wedding like that.  The wedding party stayed over to have breakfast with the bride and groom the next day.

For the same reason that all friends hung around the hospitals for hours when Carol, Phoebe and Rachel had their babies, but didn't even bother with Monica and Chandler to visit, or hear how things went, or that they had twins 😄🙄

“We’re moving in a couple of days and we’ve got a lot of packing to do.  It would be great if you guys could pitch in.”

Um, how exactly is that Phoebe and Joey’s problem?  That’s not how you ask for help, Monica.

Especially since she's going to scold them for having done it all wrong, probably.
