Also, PBS Says It Will Include Eddie Murphy’s Entire Bill Cosby Zinger In Mark Twain Prize Broadcast “Bill has one of these. Did you all make Bill give his back? I know there was a big outcry from people trying to get Bill to give his trophies back. You know you’re [expletive ]when people want you to give your trophies back,” Murphy snarked as the Kennedy Center crowd is seen guffawing. Added Murphy: “He should do one show where he comes out and talks crazy: “I would like to talk to some of the people who feel that I should give back my [expletive] trophies!” P.S. I thought a thread already existed for this program, but I cannot find it! 1 Link to comment
HelenBaby November 24, 2015 Share November 24, 2015 That was good up until Eddie's final remarks in his "Bill Cosby" voice. It seems as it was his way of supporting Cosby not "zinging" him. It was just a weird thing to do during a show honoring him. That said, Eddie was pretty brilliant back in the day. Link to comment
revbfc November 24, 2015 Share November 24, 2015 (edited) I really liked it...Except for George Lopez. Why did they give him so much time, but edited down Dave Chappelle's remarks?* It's not like George was killing it up there. * - Dave wasn't the only one edited down, but his part was the first that came to mind as a prime example. Inquisitionist November 19, 2018 Author Share November 19, 2018 Couldn't find a thread for this honor -- sorry if I've overlooked one. This year's honoree for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The ceremony occurred on October 21, but the program airs tonight, Nov. 19, on PBS at 9e/8c. Should be entertaining! 1 Link to comment
spaceghostess November 22, 2018 Share November 22, 2018 Just watched this and it was great. Funny out of the gate with the Letterman bit--and abundantly clear that JLD is not only respected, but beloved by her peers. Oh, and her speech was brilliant. Too bad she can't win an Emmy for it! 1 Link to comment
Tosia November 23, 2018 Share November 23, 2018 Julia was awesome, as was the whole show. Link to comment

ebk57 June 25, 2022 Share June 25, 2022 (edited) Did anyone watch this? We just started the show and the opening is Gary Clark Jr. and Bruce singing Come Together. Now I wish I'd gotten tickets! Who cares about the rest of the show! 😄 ETA: The show on the whole was excellent. Everyone was funny, but mostly we learned what a great guy Jon is. Which I guess I sorta knew, but now I know that everyone who works with him loves him. One of the better KC TV productions, too, so that was good. And the music... fabulous. ebk57 December 17, 2022 Share December 17, 2022 I was taught if I can't say something nice... That's 90 minutes of DVR space I don't have to free up. That was nice, wasn't it? 1 2 Link to comment
opus March 15, 2023 Share March 15, 2023 Putting aside the yeas or nays on this years recipient, I just noticed the ceremony is on CNN March 26. So this means it's no longer on PBS? Link to comment

annzeepark914 March 27, 2023 Share March 27, 2023 I just had it on for less than five minutes. That's all I could take of what seems like middle school humor. He was funny on SNL but this is awful (IMO, of course). Link to comment
Spartan Girl March 27, 2023 Share March 27, 2023 I thought it was fun. Idina Menzel’s Opera Man Take was hilarious. Not sure if Adam’s body of work deserves the Mark Twain prize, but he does seem like a genuinely good guy. And Schneider’s version of “Grow Old With You” was so nice that I almost forgot how much I detest him. Link to comment
Notwisconsin May 4, 2023 Share May 4, 2023 They should give the next one to Woody Allen. he's not dead yet. Link to comment
