I haven’t seen the new contract mentioned anywhere other than here, but I do remember several times in the past, either Joe or Mika mentioning that they had a contract through 2018.  So the fact that they are still doing their show in 2019 probably indicates that they signed a new contract.

There are a lot of old articles and interviews online mentioning that their contract expires in 2018 (IIRC in November).

As they have done in the past, they joked this morning about always making public appearances together and Joey coming to all of her KYV events because he has to hold her purse.

They are not unaware of what people say about them; it bothers them and they cannot refrain from responding, however obliquely. I derive some satisfaction from that.

I do wonder why they have so much clout at NBC. They  get solid ratings, but not earth shattering, and others at MSNBC get just as good or better ratings (relative to their time period). And, as others have pointed out, they pretty much do their show and stick to themselves. You rarely see them appearing on other MSNBC shows. 

I am not suggesting that they be replaced (I would kind of miss them if they were gone). but I do wonder why they are thought to be so irreplaceable.

If I've heard it correctly - with an I-know-you-can't-do-it tone, Mika says to someone (paraphrasing) "Name me one Democratic candidate who can beat the president." From her tone, it seems evident that any answer will be a wrong answer.

Are they hoping to assist in setting a self-fulfilling prophecy in motion?

Stormy...comparing Meeka to Tony Robbins?  That's an insult to Tony Robbins. 😂 At least he doesn't present himself as a news person and then subject his viewers to his shaminars while talking about Iran.  What you see with him is most likely what you get...a shill who more than likely knows exactly what he is.  Without a band, I am assuming.  I have never read one of his books or seen one of his whatever-you-call-its but I am betting that compared to The Twins, he is self-aware.

Mika & Joe have made it clear this week that they support Joe Biden. Mika will be hosting an event with Dr Jill Biden this week. It would look bad if Mika was endorsing another candidate.

Mayor Pete was her favourite a few weeks ago.  Mika liked Kamala Harris a few month ago.

Joe said she owned the stage at her campaign launch in Oakland.

I suspect that Mika & Joe's allegiance will fluctuate over the next few months among the non "socialist " candidates

Today she said Mosco again so today I'm calling her Mica. 

Mica did not have a good morning. She wore a pale gray unbuttoned cardigan over a cranberry dress. In the first few minutes of the show she became aware that there was too much contrast between those colors and therefore she was too much aware of how her sitting-down midriff looked. She was not pleased with what she saw.

She tugged and yanked and tugged some more at the front of the cardigan but made no progress. Every time she checked the monitor she could see her belly, and she kept checking that monitor. After a couple minutes she went so far as to hold a sheet of paper in front of her. That got awkward, so she placed a large red mug front and center and crossed her hands on top of the mug for quite a long while. Try this at home. It is not comfortable. There was more tugging and yanking of the cardigan. No one else on television does this. No one. No. One. 

Then Joey held up a newspaper so the camera could zoom in on the front page above the fold and this maneuver took Mica by surprise and caused immediate alarm. In addition to a good view of the front page we also got a good view of some very frantic cardigan-yanking. The funny-not-funny part was that her gut was hidden by the newspaper but her hand motions were not. 

Stroking a Unitarian scarf works quicker than Xanax and also hides the belly so I kept thinking she would break out a scarf but that didn't happen. Perhaps the scarves have been retired because they drape at an awkward elevation now because of the new boobs. 

The show comes on at 4am here but, early or not, I was able to register that with each attempt to hide her gut and/or rearrange the cardigan she tilted her head and squinted her eyes into something intended to pass for intensely  concentrating on the conversation. I was LMAO. This is how Mica and I spent the first hour.

At the beginning of the second hour the cardigan was buttoned, she was visibly calmer and squinting no more. Phew!

Someone recently asked why Mica wears black all the time lately. I say 1) to camouflage the new boob jobs and 2) she can't keep her eyes off the monitor so wearing black makes her morning So Much Easier.

I think Meeka wears black because she thinks it makes her look like a journalist/reporter.  

I agree with a poster in the other thread that there is no harm in "the guys" talking sports, movies and music; that it is a 3-hour show and sometimes a break from constant news is good.  I don't mind the sports talk all that much - I come from a sports-fan family.  (although with Joe, I think it is often forced) But Meeka thinks it is her mission in life to keep "the guys" straight.  I think she enjoys being "the girl scold" - thinks it makes her look like an actual news person.  To me she just always seems to be grasping for relevance and gravitas.  

I like a morning show where there is some lightness and humor - you don't have to be GMC or Today and have cooking and fashion statements.  Just sitting around chatting about music (just not Joe's!), baseball, movies, etc. is not necessarily a bad thing; the way Joe sometimes goes about it is awful.  I would be content with Morning Joe with no Meeka.  Let her go out and sell her KYV "shaminars" and let her do her serious women's interviews - she would probably be happier being out of Joe's shadow.

All the talk about how Mika doesn't like movies made me wonder--do they ever mention going to Broadway shows? Yes, I know they spend more time in FL than in NYC, but they were in commuting distance to NYC for a long time and they still spend some time there.  

I watch MJ sporadically, but I can't remember either of our hosts mentioning Broadway.

Maybe they could turn "Know Your Value" into a musical! I'd pay to see that.

I agree Kemper, I don't mind a little sports talk but I also think because Joe has to dominate the conversation it ruins the overall segment as it isn't a couple of guys shooting the breeze about what happened over the weekend.  It morphs into that guy that has had one too many at the bar and shouts over everyone to make sure he controls the narative.

As for Meeks, she's the Fun Police.  I have one of those in my family and the second they sense people are having a good time/conversation that they can't totally own themselves, they immediately go into search and destroy mode.  Oh no, we don't have time to talk about sports, we need to leave 22 minutes to KYV (me) . . . 🙄

Why does Mika have employees?  If the young woman's job is planning KYV events, ok, I get it.  But why, for any other reason, would Mika need anyone to help her?  A multi-responsibility staffer could print out articles and upload them into the teleprompter.  Mika does nothing on her show but read articles the producer selects, kick it to commercial, introduce guests, and sometimes opines.   That is it.  There are no researched packages.  There are no monologues.  There are no analyses of investigations.  There is no journalism.  There is no evidence of ANY outside preparation.

After a while younger women realize these great jobs they have are awful, and people like Mika or huge corporations chew them up and spit them out and they stop devoting 70 hours a week to assholes.

So Mika's Daily affirmation is about the real and scientific y way humans are addicted to sugar and salt.  And she will tell you that by being scientific, you can get over wanting to eat an entire chocoloate cake. 

 I thought for a minute she was going to start crying.   With mindfulness whatever, she is now able to be in a room with a cake and not eat the whole thing.   I'm not sure why she has a chocolate cake the size of my Honda just sitting around, esp if she's not eating sugar. We all know what a cake is, Mika. You didn't have to send Joe to the Publix to buy the biggest fucking cake he could find.

I guess depends on how sick. I don't eat a lot of "junk food" or sweets, as I am pretty scientific, but when I do get a craving  I might over indulge a little, and then have a bit of an upset stomach, but because my body isn't used to the salt or whatever it was.  

I'm wondering if maybe she is bulimic, because she has always been pretty slender, and you can't be eating almost an entire chocolate cake that could double as a boat anchor on the reg and not doing something with it. 

My heart goes out to anyone who has a real eating disorder.  I'm just too used to Mika's bullshit pity party to not wonder if she isn't just using her desire to get off sugar as yet another way to sell shitty books.

Nicolle saying Mika helped her has to be ten tons of bullshit. Nicolle was guest hosting for Brian W, Rachel, Lawrence, as well as on MJ before getting her show. She proved herself. She didn't need anyone's "help".  She had a resume a mile long working for Bush, comm director for McCain, why the fuck would she need a dipshit like Mika to speak up for her?  

Mika wouldn't have given that poor girl the time of day re that book if she couldn't have tied it in to her sham.  I'm helping another woman by putting my name on her book and making money off HER story.

Here's Mika's interview in "Resident" magazine.  She states she was the first person to cover Sept 11 for CBS, like she was their ace reporter and had to be the one to go. No Mika you just happened to be down there when the planes hit, stop trying to make it sound like CNN sent you to Baghdad with the first wave of US military.  I'm pretty sure no one was being sent to lower Manhattan when no one knew what the fuck was going on.
