Colorado David November 17, 2018 Share November 17, 2018 if it's expected, no prob at all. songs people, mean zero in reality. getting along in custom, showing reasonability in getting along with others, how awful. 2 Link to comment
CherryAmes November 17, 2018 Share November 17, 2018 (edited) Quote Would you chant along at the Church of Satan? That's it exactly. My kids act like they'd burst into flames if they entered a church and I admit sometimes that attitude annoys me - even though I am not a church goes either. I do somewhat feel that if they truly don't believe then going to church once a year at Christmas to please their grandmother shouldn't be a big deal but when they do go I don't expect them to actually do anything. We're Catholic so it's a little obvious when they aren't kneeling or going up to take communion or whatever but going to church is one thing, expecting someone who does not believe to participate is another thing entirely. I figure Nana should just be grateful they showed up and kept their phones in their pockets! Edited November 17, 2018 by CherryAmes 10 Link to comment

Eh, I don’t think she did anything wrong. She is very introverted. Even if it was a rock concert she might hesitant to dance and sing along. 8 Link to comment
Bastet November 17, 2018 Share November 17, 2018 She's under no obligation to participate if she doesn't want to, but it could have simply been a matter of not knowing how -- even if they had something with the lyrics, she still wouldn't know the tune, so it's pretty difficult to sing along with a song you don't know. And Darlene does not strike me as someone who likes to dance, so I would have been quite surprised to see her join in; beyond that, it wouldn't have been a remotely natural reaction to the song/environment for her, so she might even have felt like she'd have been mocking their tradition with her awkward version, further reinforcing her decision to simply be there, which is what she'd agreed to do. 16 Link to comment

She reminds me of myself, and yeah, singing in public (to an imaginary being, IMHO) makes me awkward and uncomfortable. 9 Link to comment
geauxaway November 18, 2018 Share November 18, 2018 The kid in the mall? Yah, nope. First of all, is that a thing because I would never allow my kid to ask people their voting (religion, pay grade, ANYTHING) in a public mall. And if their crazy adult chaperone tried to come after me? Not likely to happen. That mall would be sued off their ass for harassment. Once again a very special message from Mark. ??. I get it. He’s cool, he’s different, he’s special. 5 Link to comment

I was hoping the scene would show that not everyone is either democrat or republican. Instead we have a republican we are supposed to hate because he doesn’t want to raise taxes (which seems to be for the city to paint messages, so I’m with him on that one), but he will buy...a pretzel! The horror! ? The polling idea at a mall could work if it was something not personal or is so charged. What is your favorite color, for example. 2 Link to comment

They asked students to ask about political affiliation. So the school would be at fault there. 3 Link to comment
andipandi November 19, 2018 Share November 19, 2018 I think the survey and the assignment were fine. But Jackie being over the top and confrontational just embarrassed Mark and scared away pollees. 5 Link to comment

But Jackie's behavior was just way too much (regardless of political affiliation... it just went too far). He should have brought some duct tape and let her know that he'd use it, if she tried to interrupt the poll. >:) 3 Link to comment
UYI November 20, 2018 Share November 20, 2018 For the most part I liked this episode, but it was definitely obvious that it was meant to air earlier than it did, so while I understand why the episode with Johnny Galecki wound up airing first, I kind of wish they had left the order alone here. Either that, or have Dan slowly work through his grief, only to have something happen where it hits him that Roseanne is missing (during a holiday, etc.) and hit him all over again. Overall, though, I can't complain. The show is great. 5 Link to comment
