Intelligence's investigation of a nightclub owner suspected of cocaine distribution is complicated when Ruzek recognizes someone close to him while working undercover.

While Ruzek goes undercover, he finds out that his father works for a suspected dealer, which forces him to figure out if his dad is involved.

“Don’t play me. I don’t care if I’m sleeping with you, it’s not gonna change how I do my job.”

Point for Upton. Because Ruzek was definitely trying it.

Generic episode overall. It was fine.

I liked this episode more than usual.

The opening scene was a nice and light hearted that we don't get to see very often.  Platt is great!  She kills every scene she's in. Voight was decent, bailing Disco Bob out, which was somewhat unexpected given their history.  I was glad he turned out not to be dirty.

Hailey stood her ground with Ruzek, although I really don't see what the appeal is of that manchild.

Jack Coleman (Ruzek's father) was a popular villain on ABC's 'Castle' as the force behind the murder of Beckett's mother. Given his past bad guy roles, at first I thought he was dirty, but instead the viewers might get a son Ruzek arc. Coleman was also a CIA bad guy on 'Burn Notice'.

Much more importantly, the actor Jack Coleman played HRG (Horned Rimmed Glasses) on the first version of Heroes, where he was a company bad guy, the devoted father of the cheerleader who could save the world, and had a great arc played to perfection of something that wasn't really redemption, but was certainly trajectory.  He's a little too good for a one off role, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

I’m pretty sure Jack Coleman wasn’t anywhere on my radar before but I am smitten. His character makes me even like Ruzek more. Please Show, more. Lots more.

He's been on twice now, you know the next time he's gonna die right? That's the formula.

I totally forgot that Ruzek's dad was a cop.  Odd that it's not been mentioned more.

Is Voight taking a backseat in a bunch of the latest episodes?  Seems like he doesn't get as much screen time these days.

I know it's not a popular opinion here on these boards, but I really like Upton.  Maybe it's because I'm partial to blondes, but I think the actress is hot.  Nice to see her in some normal clothes and nightclub wear.  Yowza.

I still don't get the whole Ruzek/Upton thing. If they are really just hooking up casually, why endanger their employment when I'm sure either could find a non-cop for that purpose. Halstead and Lindsay were entirely different, as from day 1 it was clear they were into each other specifically. But even they didn't get physically involved until they felt it was "safe" (her leaving Intelligence).

So once again we have to put up with Voight lying and filing false papers to make "everything right" because it's "family."  What a crock of shit.

I love how "backdating the paperwork" is such a common trope on shows like this. Because this kind of thing is never done on a digital form or even something where there is like an email paper trail. It is actually a printed form that Voight has to hand deliver to someone to get placed in a file cabinet.

We can't let facts get in the way of a good old TV Trope...which this show doles out like lollies on Halloween.

Upton is my favorite character probably because I am a huge Revolution fan. Still bitter that show was canceled. I recommend that show if you like the actress.

Lordy, I'm about to show my age here but I know Jack Coleman from a little 80s nighttime soap called Dynasty. I was never a fan of the show but I knew who all the players were, as it was a huge hit. JC played Steven Carrington, son of oil tycoon Blake Carrington and one of the first openly gay/bisexual characters on tv.

As for the episode, I think it was great. I'm glad Dad Rusek was not involved and I admit I teared up at Voight helping him out. Sure it's all kinds of wrong, but my suspension of disbelief is high and my strong ethics go out the window when watching tv (for some things anyway, lol).

I'm also a fan of Upton and don't quite understand why her character is so disliked, even by Mr. Gothish.

On a purely superficial note: Besides being a fan of his character, I'm continually impressed and appreciative of LaRoyce Hawkins and his obvious hard work at getting in shape. He was always a nice-looking man but dayum, he is smoking hot now!

I so miss Platt's snark at the desk. I'd love for the show to get some regular beat cops again so we can have more Trudy P. As for Ruzek, I totally get the attraction. Honestly, at the risk of sounding super-shallow, one of the things I really enjoy about this show is the man candy, which is plentiful and much appreciated. ;) That includes Voight, BTW.

Platt is at her best with beat cops and I agree, we need more of here!

I am all about man candy!  LOL!  Seriously, there are some nice looking guys on this show which is a definite plus, but Ruzek just doesn't do it for me.  I don't find him attractive on a physical level and I think he's really immature which doesn't help.  So we will never be fighting over him :)

Kind of surprised that they've never given Voight a love interest.  I thought they were going there with Benson from SVU for a minute and then it was dropped.. He's got no real family left so it would make sense for them to give him someone in his life.
