Here We Go Again (Season 3 | Episode 2)

8:30PM | ABC

With her new job taking up more of her time, Katie and Greg try to split up parenting duties. Katie over-involves herself in Taylor's social life by trying to keep some distance between Taylor and her boyfriend, Trip, to make sure Taylor is her own person aside from him. Meanwhile, Greg tries to convince Oliver to be honest after overhearing Oliver lie to his friends about his less-than-luxurious summer vacation.

Aw, I love Cooper B, and how sweet was it when he kissed Katie on the cheek because he missed her all summer?

There were a lot of things in this episode that made me laugh, offset by a few jokes that didn't land or made me cringe... but all in all I enjoyed this episode and I liked the way all the storylines were resolved.

For a while I thought the kids' issues were going to be an excuse for having Katie back as a stay at home mom  - after the discussion here about her no longer being a housewife.  (It doesn't bother me if her situation no longer matches the title.)  Then I remembered reading that Kelly Ripa only did the voice for two episodes (at least at the time of the interview) and I totally thought Katie was going to give up her job as a party planner.  Excuse me, event coordinator.   I was surprised when she made it to her meeting.  I wonder if we'll ever get to see Kelly in person?  I wouldn't be surprised if she remains unseen, like Marris on Frasier or Mrs. Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory.

I expected Katie to say something like "There will be no mini-Coopers in this house!"

And I'm sorry, but sometimes a nice melty Kraft Singlay on some toasty bread just hits the spot. And now I wish I had some.

This is where I hope the show eventually goes with Cooper.  Him discovering that sometimes the simple pleasures are even more enjoyable than the extravagant ones.

One of the best cocktail-hour appetizers I've had was grilled cheese (cut into triangles, as is right and proper) at my cousin's wedding. They served them with little shot glasses of tomato soup (which I don't actually like but they were fun). They had fancier, more typical wedding fare as well but on a snowy January day it was great. (And it wasn't to have a kid-friendly option because they didn't invite any kids.)

Mr. CrazyDog and I are already using that when discussing our grocery lists now, LOL. I really loved this episode...the whole cast is great, but Cooper and Tripp have really rounded out the group.

Stepping in the water bowl over and over...yup, I've had those days.

Tripp wearing Taylor's jacket...lol.

Overall, a great episode, though I want to see more of Katie's party planning duties.

They live in Westport because that school system has the special help that Anna-Kat needs, and they can't afford private school.

This is actually a big TV peeve of mine (Speechless has the DiMeos supposedly having done the same for JJ). Students with special ed needs MUST receive whatever they need regardless of what town they live in; you can't just say, "Sorry kid, our town is too poor to help you!" It's federally mandated in ANY public school.

That's not the premise presented on this show though. The issue wasn't that the other town didn't have the services Anna-Kat needed at all. It's that the specialist in this town/school was better/one of the best. They moved to get her in the same district as a specific educator.

Right and it seems they only like bringing up that fact when they HAVE to talk about it. Of course both the town and the school seem to exist in this magical bubble where they can do whatever they want and people aren't being arrested in droves for all the illegal crap they have been pulling off the last 3 seasons because you know, TV.

In theory, all disabled kids are legally required to get what they need, though the definition of "need" and the degree of its enforcement are basically laughable on a good day. However, even setting aside all of that, wealthy districts sometimes do extra things for their students,  beyond what is required-- whether they are disabled or not. Even parents of non-disabled kids often try to find ways to live in a "better school district."

Oh I know, I've been in the education world for almost a decade and have seen kids that really needed help to those where the parents are: "They have an IEP, they can't fail!"
