mjc570 July 7, 2021 Share July 7, 2021 Wow, I did not see that coming. Ray sure is a handy guy to have around in case of emergencies. I think next week is the series finale, and if he doesn't go full Rambo I will be very disappointed, I really would like to see him morph from the Magician (perfect name for the way he makes problems vanish) to Avenging Ray. p.s. Nice to see he votes 3 Link to comment
mxc90 July 7, 2021 Share July 7, 2021 (edited) That was so sad and intense. Poor Zoe, the couple and kangaroo. Not a scratch on Ray after the accident. The man is a magician. The lady took two bullets and was still running until the final two put her down. If Ray had left with Rafael and Zoe and not insist to remove the couple's bodies and get rid of the RV, Zoe would be alive. He had no choice but to clean the scene. Ray owes Rafael a beating. A little surprised Ray didn't know Rafael had no plans to take Zoe to a hospital by the way he panicked in that situation. After this, Ray must really believe he is cursed to find love. Him arriving at the cross road and breaking down is now time to reevaluate his life/profession. Ray held composure in front of Rafael when he found out she was dead. He knew he was outnumbered to kick his ass. I would think Ray wants to find Zoe's body and give her a proper burial (the same way he did the girl that wasn't fed to the pigs). Aren't all 3 of their prints on the crashed car? Edited July 7, 2021 by mxc90 4 Link to comment
WritinMan July 7, 2021 Share July 7, 2021 I recently discovered this show with a recent trial of Hulu. What a fantastic show! I've plowed through all the episodes and now only have next week's finale. I am sad that the show is ending, but it's probably for the best that it gets a planned conclusion rather than ramble on too long like so many other TV shows. After the finale I'm going to rent Ryan's film (The Magician) that introduced Ray. 1 4 Link to comment
tennisgurl July 7, 2021 Share July 7, 2021 I guess kangaroos really are the deer of Australia, always causing car accidents the second you take your eyes off the road. Poor Zoey, the couple, and the kangaroo. Ray definitely would have kicked the shit out of Rafael if they weren't surrounded by other people, hopefully next week he gets some bloody revenge. Ray is a bit off his game, normally I think he would have known that a guy like Rafael wouldn't leave any "loose ends" like Zoey alive. The ending really moved me, it seemed like a culmination of Ray's whole story this season. He has becoming so disillusioned with his criminal life and the violence he deals out and is surrounded by, and by the scummy people he has to work with while also hiding what he does to his increasingly skeptical daughter, he just seems so exhausted. I am sad that the show is almost over but excited to see where Ray ends up. 6 Link to comment
mxc90 July 14, 2021 Share July 14, 2021 (edited) Hate to see the show go! Will miss it! Too bad we will never see if Ray settled down with someone. Sad that he only had left is the picture of Zoe to hold to. The gun fight and chase was intense! Too bad for Dave. Happy Rafael got what he deserved. I liked that there was not one word from Ray to him (Just point and fire). If Rafael was so concerned about Ray, he should have taken him out when he picked up the bag/cash. The man is stupid! Only him and two others waiting knowing the "Magician" was coming. Should have had 10 more men. Fuck you Freddy! Ray stuck his neck out for you on your gambling debt, many other times and you sold him out in a heartbeat. After that betrayal, Ray was still kind and not kill him!!!!! Freddy trying the dimmies for the first time and Ray seeing the bullet hole Brittany caused were funny. Not much with Ray and his father. Nice he didn't keep him away from Brittany. When Ray was giving that long look at Brittany leave, maybe he thought he was going to die on this mission? Didn't see his BMW by the trailer. Probably sold it. Why is Ray driving a cab? Didn't gain a lot of wealth from his many jobs or is his new purpose/adventure being a vigilante (and don't mess with the man's radio station)? The writers can try and end with a mystery (somewhat like the Sopranos) but no way in hell Ray is getting killed by those two clowns. Edited July 14, 2021 by mxc90 5 Link to comment

Yeah Ray knew they were dodgy when they got in the cab. They have no idea what's in store for them. Edited July 14, 2021 by Crashcourse 4 Link to comment
mjc570 July 15, 2021 Share July 15, 2021 Could someone remind me why Ray was driving the cab? (Aside from real life parallels, of course) Was it just to make money? Also - I was a bit confused by what I thought was an older Ray (with hair) at his trailer (or caravan, I guess) which I took to be in the future - but then it was Ray with short hair doing his taxi gig. My take on the the 2 guys - Ray knew they were planning on robbing him (or it was later clear, killing him) by them insisting on him driving to a deserted beach at night in a rain storm. I'm sure he killed them, by that evil smile at the end, but I think if they hadn't threatened him, he wouldn't have. I'm really sorry this show is over, but I'm glad it didn't drag on too long. 1 Link to comment
BeckyThatcher July 15, 2021 Share July 15, 2021 Beautiful and brilliant. “A bit of this, bit of that”, the Magician Grin, and Awolnation’s “Run” - what a flawless series ending. The entire episode was amazing- no missteps, no waste. I just marvel at this! Loved the Tarantino-esk farmhouse scene. Here’s a hammer, no this meat cleaver is better, and oh hey, I see something better still! 3 Link to comment

He could test the waters regarding his safety but also draw in anyone looking to take him out. He picks up the two fellas from a biker club which has ties to the biker VP. But after two car flips in two episodes, I’m not sure if this is the wisest choice. Edited July 15, 2021 by BeckyThatcher Typos, Driving skills, No memory of Biker VP’s name 4 Link to comment

tennisgurl July 15, 2021 Share July 15, 2021 I am really sad that this show has ended, but am glad that it got to go out on its own terms, with just the right kind of finale. I thought that Ray would end up dying, but I like that they left things ambiguous. We don't know what will happen with these two sketchy guys in the cab or what will happen with Ray next in his life, but I cannot imagine two idiots like that will get the best of Ray. I like to think that he would get out of the business, as crime has made him increasingly miserable over the course of the season, but its also possible that he just keeps on going. My first thought was actually that Ray picked the guys up so that he could kill them as part of a job, then I that they were going to kill him, but either way, no way does it go well for the two guys in the cab. Poor Dave, this show really escalates quickly. We go from quirky conversations about aliens to Ray and Dave being shot at by a gun wielding drone. Fuck you Freddie, Ray has stuck with you and bailed you out of all kinds of shit, and this is what he gets? At least Rafael finally got his, and I love that Ray just coldly shot him right in the head as he tried to get off one more insult. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I will miss the show, but it was an awesome ride to be on. "A bit of this, a bit of that..." 5 Link to comment

I don't know for certain, but from the conversation it sounded like voting is mandatory in Australia. Zoe was talking about faking it like she was getting one over on the government. I knew someone here (in the US) who wouldn't even register because they were afraid they'd get called for jury duty. On 7/6/2021 at 8:35 PM, mxc90 said: Ray owes Rafael a beating. Initially I thought Raphael was a dead man, but then I came to the same conclusion. The prints are a good catch, especially when Ray was so meticulous about wiping down the RV. Maybe they won't be usable with all the dirt and damage... On 7/7/2021 at 9:11 AM, WritinMan said: I recently discovered this show with a recent trial of Hulu. What a fantastic show! Chris.1980 July 21, 2021 Share July 21, 2021 Holy moly… How’s that for an ending. Epic. Gem of a show. I didn’t know s03 was the last one :( I thought it was a cliffhanger, was I sad to learn here it was the last. Makes it an even better episode I think. I am definitely gonna check out the movie suggesion after this. Link to comment
gibasi July 29, 2021 Share July 29, 2021 I rented the movie. I don't think it is as good as the series. It lacks the heart and even the humor of the series. The addition of Ray's daughter was brilliant and makes us see him as more than a mob enforcer. And seeing his friends and his loyalty was another plus. Of course the movie was a different entity altogether. If I had watched the movie first though I don't know if I would have bothered with the series. 2 Link to comment
kelslamu July 31, 2021 Share July 31, 2021 I'm bummed to find out the series is done. I had no idea and wondered when I could see what happens with the guys in the cab. *sigh* Now, I kind of think even if Ray tries to get out of "the life" that "the life" will tend to find him anyway. isalicat November 5, 2021 Share November 5, 2021 Well after all of the rest of you, I just finished watching the entire series last evening (over a period of a couple of months). I thought it was brilliant; one of the best written and acted TV shows I've ever seen and I've been recommending it to everyone although its hard to access unless you have Hulu. I am so glad I happened to see it while scrolling through "TV shows" just by accident...What else has Ryan done? Link to comment
MJ Frog February 9, 2022 Share February 9, 2022 (edited) Why in the WORLD is Freddy still alive? Jesus H. Christ. I love that Ray still hangs on to that picture of Zo, but it also breaks my heart. I am not sure what he's up to with this living in a crappy trailer and driving a taxi, but I hope he finds some measure of peace. After he kills those boys. Those stupid, stupid, boys. A compulsively watchable show with some incredibly powerful moments. I'm glad I ran across it. Edited February 9, 2022 by MJ Frog 2 Link to comment
