S08.E10: Couples' Weekend

Jill & Jana assist at a birth as Jessa documents the day in pictures. Then, Jim Bob & Michelle visit a fertility doctor. Ben, Jessa, and chaperone Jinger head to DC to visit Josh & Anna. Anna wants to show Ben the city, but Josh has other plans.

Jessa and Ben go see Josh and Anna and the inevitable and trite inquisition ala Don Joshua begins.  Ben informs the crew that he "works out",although his inventory of animal print pants is debatable ("he's sexy and he knows it").   The immature child in me had a gaydar ping because of the following quotes about Josh and Ben building a relationship by pumping iron together.

I laughed at Joshie trying to keep up with Ben at the gym.   Yeah, you are such a "tough" older brother.  Rriiggghhhhtttt.

 

And there was only one other person at this gym?  What time did they film?

I've never been skiing so I don't know, but is it normal to take kids that young skiing?

I think a fun thing on their DC tour would have been to say to Bin, "And there's the United States Supreme Court Building, where they made the Roe vs. Wade decision." And then time how long it would take for him to have a sign made and protesting. He would surely pass JoshBob's inspection, then. Maybe JoshBob can get Bin a phoney-baloney job with the FRC and they can live together and save the difference.

Here we were anticipating a secret ski slope rendezvous with Jana and her man behind the scenes, and instead she stays behind at the lodge to babysit Marcus Anthony.  I suppose it's possible he joined them there in front of the fire for hot chocolate, but then again, there may be no hope for that one...

Where did Joseph disappear to during the ski trip? Maybe he got some time alone without an accountablity partner.

A typical Anna struggles with something episode...  Is she only good at raising kids??

Paris Hilton being taught to cook didn't seem too bad.   Ben just creeps me out more and more as the season goes on.

andromeda331 I haven't seen the episode, but I'm assuming from comments that Marcus didn't ski, in terms of Mack & Mike they're 4 and 2, and although not common I started skiing in the couple months prior to turning 3 (therefore I was 2 like Michael). I'm pretty sure, however that the whole skiing thing was just for the cameras, though the whole family had done it before - looks like they're trying to reuse ideas!

To be honest, I think that was part Bin's dad's plan when he made the 4 hour trek to attend the Church of The Latter Day Mullet & hook him up with the hot Duggar girl.

Best moment of the episode was Jessa's face when that woman screamed. It wouldn't surprise me if she and Ben weren't as "blessed" with children as her mother/siblings.

 

I hate to pick on people's a appearances, but Jessa's skin was really bad. You would think they would take their kids to see a dermatologist since they so often have to look nice in public.

 

Michelle is trying a little too hard to convince herself that she will still be happy if she can't have more kids. It's pretty sad.

 

Does Josh have a close relationship with any of his siblings? None of them ever act like they have a close bond when they are together. It's kind of weird. Maybe I've never seen it since the show started with him being engaged and I don't remember the earlier specials. 

 

I'm coveting Jinger's chevron shirt she wore in DC. It's super cute! I can safely say that's the first time I have ever wanted to own a piece of clothing worn by a Duggar.
