So is nobody watching this? I'm hooked already. Jimmi Simpson is such a good, underrated actor, and he's already just fabulous in this. I only know the bare bones about any of this particular story...the East Coast/West Coast thing, the Rampart scandal, etc, so I'm really interested in learning about it all.

Josh Duhamel looks so much like Timothy Olyphant in this....I like him fine, but I just kept wishing he WERE Tim O.

I'm watching! I love true crime so I am totally hooked. I also don't know too much about this case, but I did watch the docu series A&E did on Tupac not too long ago so I am familiar with the names and people involved. The actors playing Tupac and Biggie do resemble them, but I thought the actor playing Puff did not look anything like him.

I'm watching, too. I think the jumping back and forth in time between the two investigations is a little confusing, though. I keep forgetting what info is new and what is older/from Poole's investigation. 

I did really enjoy the flashbacks to Tupac and Biggie being friends. The scene where they were playing in the sprinklers with unloaded guns was both poignant and disturbing. They really were just kids, in a way.

I watched a documentary with Soledad O'Brien and Ice T on the murders and they had an interesting take on what really happened when Tupac got shot in N.Y. and blamed Biggie, and some Compton detectives who think they know who killed Tupac. I wonder if that will come up here?

also watching, I'm an old school rap fan, and true crime also, so I'm enjoying this. They were just kids, and had they lived, we would be the same age. I did feel Biggie's mom's pain in this first episode, he wasn't Biggie, he was just her boy.

Don't like rap, don't like true crime, but I like a good story told well and this looks like it. I like the jumps, the cinematography, the sharp dialogue and it all feels really well made with care and heart.

Christopher's mother: "I never listened to his music until after he died"...yikes.  A tough scene to watch but beautifully played by both.

My fault for not paying attention to the dates on the promos (just like w/Assassination of Gianni Versace). Agree that Josh is aging fabulously; who knew he would look better grayed.  And confess that I thought Jimmi was Clay Aiken.  Until I heard him speak.

I wish more people were watching and there was a discussion here.    I’m enjoying this so far.    The MGM beat down scene was pretty accurate looking.   Tupac in his silk button down speed walking through the casino floor.   One thing that I never quite understand, and I’ve seen the real footage a thousand times, is why Orlando Anderson was just standing there by himself.   I’ve always heard that his uncle Keefe D had a ticket for the fight but that Orlando did not and he was just waiting for his uncle.   I get that.  But these aren’t normal people.   Orlando was a full fledged crip.   Standing around solo without your crew just always seemed odd.  I would assume these guys are always in groups and plenty of them were there.    From what I’ve heard, Vegas during a Tyson fight back in the day brought in tons of gang members from LA.   There’s just so many questions with the whole thing.

I haven't gotten to see this episode yet but I am definitely in this for the long haul. I do hope others are watching. jimmi and josh and bokeem deserve it!

Even though I only know the basics of this story, I love true crime, cultural and entertainment history, seedy LA shit, I am so in. Plus Jimmi Simpson is becoming one of my favorite new actors. I know he’s not new, but with West Workd I feel like he’s finally getting his moment. I’ve also always though Josh D was capable of stretching himself with the right project. Although I think he’s doing a fairly safe read of the material right now, I think this might be the project where he gets to try some stuff.

I'm liking it so far. The music is great. Josh Duhamel does look good with his gray hairs but right now he's feeling like a distraction here to me. It's almost as if he's in a separate show. Hopefully things will improve in the coming episodes.

I'm catching up slowly, but I can't get over how much the actor playing Tupac looks like him. He could be his twin, down to the long curly lashes. The scene with him sitting in the car after being shot, watching his friends being dragged off by the cops, was chilling.

I'm having a bit of trouble following some of the players. I think they could do a better job editing with the time jumps.

I'm also hoping they give Amirah Vann more to do.

I think I gave up.  I have two episodes in the DVR and I think delete is their next step.  It solidified my decision by reading what you quoted of me and I had no idea what thread this was.  LOL.

I'm fascinated by it, but it seems like no one else is watching or if they are, they aren't talking about it.

I've been faithfully watching it but haven't seen much to comment about. The series seems to me like a an odd patchwork of the Notorious and All Eyez on Me movies, with a bare-bones police procedural attached. And as much as I like Josh Duhamel, I don't understand why he's in this. The best thing about the series is the music, IMO.

Well...I'm always a day and a dollar short....😜....but I'm just now catching this on Netflix. I'm not a rap fan, but I do love some true crime stories. In the past few days I've binge watched this program and the one on A&E. I truly wish they could solve this crime, but no one is talking. I get the feeling that most of the people that know anything about anything are dead. Suge Knight probably knows, but he ain't talking. 🙊

Watched this on Netflix, and agree the actors playing Biggie and Tupac were spot on, but Puffy looked like a Wayans brother. Totally forgot about Pac dating Kidada. The lead detective (Jimmie Simpson) was a sad character. I felt bad for him at the end, he seemed broken and desperate. The gang involvement seems the most likely answer for both murders, sad.

I am about halfway through this as it was a recommendation for me on Netflix (it's a Netflix original in Canada). I am enjoying it but it was definitely a slow build.

It seems like a lot of story to tell in one season what with the Biggie/Tupac story, the 90's investigation and the 2000's investigation. It kind of made it hard to follow at first especially the names of all the different people. Thankfully pretty much the real life version of every character has a Wikipedia entry (even the blonde Compton cop, and Keefy D) and they were able to use everyone's real names.
