ahrtee November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 I can't speak to on-set shenanigans. I think that's up to the director/producer (if on set) to put a stop to it if necessary...mostly, if it's taking up too much time or is honestly upsetting one of the actors. I think they're pretty good about being "kind" to guest stars, and being teased is taken as a sign that they're now one of the gang. However, Jared does often annoy me at cons. He tends to hijack conversations, deliberately create distractions when his co-panelist is trying to answer a question seriously, and in general winds up being center stage in every group. I think that's just Jared, and he doesn't realize how annoying it might be to those who want to hear what Jensen (or Misha) have to say without being filtered through Jared's antics, changes of subject, or interpretations on their behalf. But I don't think it's up to Jensen to tell Jared to settle down, especially not on stage/in front of others. I think they accept each other's "quirks" (as Jensen put it, very politely, I thought) even if they get annoyed at them; but if they start to upset others (on set or on stage at a con) then TPTB should make the call in private. Most of the actors have solo panels, sometimes with an additional shared panel later. I think J2 are the only ones who have never had a solo panel (even when Jared had to miss the J2 panel, they got Misha in his place so Jensen wouldn't be alone.) I wonder if that's their choice--since Jared seems to like to play off others, and Jensen IMO doesn't seem to like having the pressure of all the attention on him alone. I think the best thing would be, as others suggested, for them to have panels with different people, to give the audience the chance to see how they behave with others and can speak on their own without any (intended or not) upstaging. Personally, I found Jared's "crashing" Jensen & Misha's panel very, very annoying--not because he stayed on stage, but because he kept subverting attention from the two who were trying to talk. The music was very distracting, and I think both Jensen and Misha were getting annoyed at having to talk over (and ignore) the noise. It wouldn't have been nearly as annoying (to me) if he'd just joined them and talked for the same amount of time. For myself, I don't mind them talking among themselves about things they find interesting. I enjoy that more than listening to the same questions over and over, and it gives more insight to their personalities by watching what they choose to talk about and how they react. Most of the cons I went to way back in prehistoric days had actors monologing on whatever they wanted for 3/4 of the time, with audience Q&A just for the last 10 minutes or so. The new format takes most of the pressure off the stars, but (especially with question vetting) does make it a lot less spontaneous and more repetitive. JMO 9 Link to comment

But, they don't need to omit Jared altogether. I would love a panel like this, but I would prefer just JA and JDM, personally. I think a lot of the success of these Ackles panels would be reliant on good questions and Creation can't really control for that. 1 Link to comment
Pondlass1 November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 Jared is damn likeable. If I knew him I know I'd like him. But he is getting worse at J2 panels and needs to reel it in. Hope they unplug the stage organ in future. And he was completely rude and overbearing at the DC gold panel, especially when one poor fellow was trying to ask Jensen a question about batman red hood. Thing is, we know Jared's not egotistical and wanting to steal the limelight, he's not like that. But he forgets his place. I try to make allowances, but he can be so bloody immature sometimes. He can rein it in. Lots of panels are fine. And we know he's well loved by cast and crew... He's puppies and rainbows after all. But you can't tell me they don't get a bit irritated sometimes I'd fork out for a Jensen solo panel. But Jensen seems to want company. Link to comment

He could write the questions himself and hand out cards to the audience. And maybe let Louden Swain play soft background music while he talks, occasionally interrupted by him snatching the mic out of Rob's hand to sing a number or two. Yeah, that's the ticket. Aeryn13 November 21, 2017 Share November 21, 2017 Mixing panels - that is, with a lead and a recurring/guest actor - can be tricky. If it`s an hour of goofing around and entertainment by the two artists, it`s fine. If it`s pure Q&A, it can be a bit unfortunate with the "my question is for..." Excluding JDM, of course. He is a big enough draw to fill ten panels by himself and not want for attention with his many projects. It might work if the actors play characters with a significant relationship. However, I`m not sure I would want Jensen and Sam Smith. I basically hate her answers and headcanons about the Mary character as it is. Basically I hate Mary more after the actress gushes about how right and justified she is. Jensen isn`t an actor who would push back against that so no thanks. Personally, I`d love a Jensen/Emily Swallows or Jensen/Tim Omundson panel. Or Jensen/Ty Olsson (I know, not part of the Creation con circle anymore). 4 Link to comment

I don't know. You might be right, but I'd still like to hear what they would have to say about it when they're together. 1 Link to comment

Honestly,? No, I don`t. Jensen is very self-deprecating about Dean sometimes and doesn`t pimp or whitewash him and Sam Smith is, well, the opposite. So basically, I`d expect an insanely one-sided narrative from such a panel in terms of questions about the characters` relationship. For that reason a hard pass on such a panel. 7 Link to comment

Plus, as long as they are a part of the show and the con, they are going to be PC and toe the line with TPTB to keep their jobs and professionalism. I'd love for someone to do a BTS special after the show is over, though, and find out true opinions and facts then. 3 Link to comment

Yeah, from what I understand Vicki (Misha’s wife) and the kids are only 2-3 hours away from Vancouver. So Misha still gets to spend quite a bit of time with them. Especially during periods where he doesn’t appear for a string of episodes. I honesty have no idea about Mark Pellegrino’s living arrangements and I think Alexander is single. 1 Link to comment
gonzosgirrl November 23, 2017 Share November 23, 2017 My dad worked a regular job, but in a city 50 miles away. He left for work before we kids were up in the morning, got home at dinner time, and went to bed early most nights. We spent most weekends together, much like the Js do with their kids (minus the 3 or so months off in the summer they have). Lots of jobs require travel and being away for days at a time (truck drivers, sales, etc) and they don't get near the compensation that actors do. I don't doubt it's hard to miss out on firsts and bedtimes, but lots of parents do but they have some pretty big up-sides as well. 9 Link to comment

Another thing about J2 is the fact they also spent a lot of time doing the con circuit. That’s great for us fans, but it also must take away a huge chunk of time with the family they don’t actually need to lose. It could just be a case of J2 are trying to ensure they have enough to last them a lifetime in the event their acting careers don’t go as well as they hope post SN. Not that im saying they won’t do well after the shows end. I’m just saying acting is a very unpredictable profession and they might just be raising as much as possible just in case. Maybe I’m a horrible person, but I guess I just don’t feel sorry for J2 because they spend a lot of time away from their families they don’t have to spend apart from them. They’ve all chosen, for whatever reason, to not have the family move close to him for the 9 months (or whatever it is) of the year he films. I think there are some legal issues that would cause problems, mostly having to do with residency status (which also affects taxes). I think they've been there under a worker's visa (or something similar) but if they bought property and moved their families there, they might have to apply for resident status, because that would then become their "primary residence," even if they're only there 9 months out of the year. So there would be legal issues that would have to be approved on resident status, taxes, health care and schools, among other things. They (I'm talking both Js here) could avoid that by moving to Washington like Misha, but (with their typical 10-12 hour working days) I somehow doubt they'd want to commute even 2-3 hours every day, so they'd wind up only coming home on weekends anyway, which, as others pointed out, would still leave Danneel and Gen and the kids in a strange place without their families nearby for support. Besides, for sun-loving Texas boys, I imagine rainy Vancouver for 3-5 days a week is bad enough. Imagine working in rainy Vancouver and then going home to rainy Washington! 2 Link to comment
