I doubt there is any romantic storyline for Jo and Michael simply because Danneel was clear on the commentary that she didn't want to come in and be a love interest. If I remember correctly Michael reaches out to Anael/Jo in regards to heaven being on life support.

I don't have access to the commentaries.  Even if she didn't want to be the love interest but it was still shown to be a rather sexualized relationship with Lucifer. So they still positioned in a way as  Lucifer's love interest.  IMO.  I don't rule it out them doing it with Michael since it's Jensen.

They were talking about why she resisted being on the show for so many reasons and she said she didn't want to play Dean's love interest and he agreed since she is his love interest every day.

I understand what you meant. I wasn't disputing your point at all. Sorry if my reply left you thinking that was my intention.it wasnt I'm. I'm just saying that the writers and the actors could completely change their minds now that she's been on the show.

Oh, I thought you were saying she didn't want to play a love interest period and pointed to the Lucifer arc to show they sort of did that. But she and Jensen were specific about her playing a love interest to him.

Your original comment said she didn't want to play a love interest. I didn't see any differentiation as to who's love interest until your second comment.  So that was my confusion.  At this point she wouldn't really be Dean's love interest either. She would be Michael's. If it comes to that.

Honestly, I expect Michael to kill her. He is used to angels worshipping the Word of Michael basically. If she approaches him with anything less than "command me, Lord and Saviour", she is probably toast.

If it's in 14.2, the nepotism duo episode, I'd expect some sexual innuendo, at least. If it's in Dabb's episode, the premiere(which I think it will be), I'd think not.

I'd love it if he'd just turn on the malevolent with her.

I think it's in the premiere. That is all they had filmed when Comic Con hit and Jensen talked of doing the scene with Danneel. Yeah, if he's as evil as he's being built up to be then romance would seem weird. He should be all about his plan and not have time for sexual attraction.

I think there was a spoiler that stated he sends her back to Heaven to inform them? of his presence? or plan?-with a message of some sort? or maybe just to get a feel for things and/or lay the groundwork for his offer of "help" with their problems up there. I can't remember it exactly except for the part about her returning to Heaven. It might even have come from one of JA's own interviews.

Question: Anything on Supernatural? —April
Ausiello: Kim Rhodes’ Jody Mills will return in the wake of “a mysterious death, when it turns out that she and Sam and Dean are looking for the same person,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb previews. “That involves her in a case that has pretty big repercussions, Wayward-wise, going forward.” As for the rest of the Wayward Sisters ensemble, “We’re also going to see Donna later this season,” Dabb says. “And our hope is, toward the back half of the season, to see everyone together in a plotline that we think dovetails very nicely with our Supernatural storyline for the season. We’re not, like, taking a detour into Wayward world. [We’re] taking some of those characters who we love so much, and some of the ideas, and folding them into Sam and Dean’s story.”

So Michael doesn't even make it through episode 2.  I can't even begin to list all the ways I don't care about wayward or any of the characters.

Screw Dabb.  He's the worst thing to ever happen to this show.  Can he take his pets and just go away.

Yikes. Considering that he could have answered that question any way that he wanted to and this was what he chose, I'm now seriously concerned about where he's going to try and take the mothership this season. :-(

So, Michael!Dean is going to be done by 14.3???
JFC, that is even less time than the demon!Dean arc! GFD this is such bait and switch bullshit.

The only thing I can hope for is that MAYBE just MAYBE, Michael has figured out how to mimic Dean and decides to be Not!Dean and fools Sam and Cas for a few episodes a la Casifer.  I don't care if it's recycling a SL. They recycle and repurpose other things for not!Sam/Jared and Not!Cas/Misha.  Let Jensen/notDean have a good turn as well.

I said it last season that if WS doesn't fly, he'll try to re-engineer the TFW show into a full ensemble piece that will go on without Dean and Sam and probably Cas, too.

ETA:  I think it will take all of s14 and into s15 to do the entire thing.

It makes Dabb seem even more whiney and lazy about complaining about Deanless episodes.

He only had to write one.

I always thought it was only gonna be 2 episodes so this isn`t a surprise to me. The only surprise is that everyone tried to play the secrecy game at Comic Con and then Dabb et all are too stupid to even phrase their spoilery answers better in interviews. I bet if someone point-blank asked him "so since you say Sam and Dean, that means Dean is back in episode 3...", only THEN would he realize what he just said. That guy has no game when it comes to that.

Dabb is going to have his Wayward Sisters, one way or another.

I have zero faith that he and his lackluster crew of writers have the talent or finesse required to make a flashback Michael story compelling in any way. Sadly, I do believe he's quite capable of making his pets the stars of the show, figuratively if not literally. I suspect we will have much sisterly saving of the world (or at least the Winchesters) this season.

I am so very disappointed.

The only thing I care less about than Wayward Sisters is the continuing (and seemingly endless) story of boring, monotone drone angels and their struggles to keep the lights on.

At this point I would be perfectly happy if Cas becomes human and Michael takes over Heaven. However I wouldn't be at surprised if he and Cas have a battle for control if Heaven. I also wont be surprised if the Empty Keeper decides to give Lucifer back to fight Michael and ends up with stupid redemption.

https://ew.com/tv/2018/09/13/supernatural-season-14-photos-michael-jo/

First look at Michael.

They really don't want to share much.  Only 2 photos.

Quote

After years of fighting his “destiny,” Dean Winchester finally said yes. In Supernatural‘s season 13 finale, Dean allowed archangel Michael to use him as a vessel in order to save his brother, Sam — and the world — by fighting, and ultimately defeating Lucifer. The plan worked … until it didn’t.(*)

By the end of the finale, Michael had run off with Dean’s vessel, and as season 14 begins, he’s still nowhere to be found, the effects of which can be seen in EW’s exclusive season 14 photos, below, one of which features Sam’s grief beard. “Sam’s not worried about sleeping or eating or shaving,” Jared Padalecki says. “He’s trying to figure out what happens with different people’s vessels and different angels.”(**)

But as far as Michael is concerned, he has a vision, and when the season begins, he’s not wasting a moment in trying to turn said vision into a reality. “Michael looks around and sees this very flawed creation,” co-showrunner Andrew Dabb says. “He sees a way to start over. Basically, he wants to make a better world.” In Michael’s mind, a better world is one without humans, so the only bit of good news for anyone who doesn’t have wings is that Michael won’t have an angel army backing him up this time. Mostly because there are fewer than 10 angels still in existence on this earth. “He’s taking a moment to assess the landscape,” Jensen Ackles says. “How useful are these angels; are they worth saving or teaming up with?” (***)

That assessment will involve Michael coming face-to-face with the angel Jo (as seen below). “He utilizes that meeting as an assessment of the greater realm of angels that exists,” Ackles says. “And she’s not necessarily the best representation of the angels that are out there, because she kind of has her own agenda and is a bit rogue. So his meeting with her does prove to be a little different than anticipated, which makes for an interesting dynamic.” ****

*Man, it's so annoying how the PR for this is that Dean gave into his destiny from s5. That's not what fucking happened, show.  It's not the same Michael. And Dean didn't do for the same reasons at all. Like not even close to the same situation.

**Why would Sam be spending time figuring out what happens to different vessels and different angels? He already knows this shit.  Also, why is Castiel in handcuffs and beaten up and who did it? Did Sam beat up Cas?

***So basically they are taking Lucifer's disdain for humanity and applying it to AU Michael and clearly the show refuses to acknowledge it's not the same damn Michael and Michael never said he wanted to purge the earth of humanity in s5. It was never said in canon that was his goal. It was however, Lucifer's goal.

****So, I suppose Sister Jo will have more influence over Michael than anyone. That's the vibe I'm getting.

Honestly, the more I learn, the more disappointed I am in this SL.  Ugh.

That must confuse this with Lucifer because it`s not like Michael popped in on them all the time and Dean was constantly saying no to various proposals - until he finally said yes. So this is just silly. Though it`s nice that at least they threw in "and saving the world" as a motiv, even if it was an afterthought.

Now will it be mentioned or brought up on the show?

Well, Michael`s AU world was not human-friendly but from Prime!Michael I never got the whiny "waaaah, daddy loved them more than me" spiel. I think he didn`t care one way or the other unless they would get in his way. We really never learned anything about AU!Michael and why he did what he did. Heck, how did he even know who Dean was aka his vessel if said vessel never came to be in his universe? Was he aware of what should have been but wasn`t?

Truck, meet plothole, drive through.

Quote

****So, I suppose Sister Jo will have more influence over Michael than anyone. That's the vibe I'm getting.

I think they are just hyping this one scene. In the picture her body language is, if maybe not outright hostile, defensive and a bit outraged.`It makes sense for Michael to check out this world`s angel situation and talk to one of them. She will not really have any understanding of his goals or motivations and he won`t be used to angels not worshipping and obedient. So the meeting goes badly. He obviously doesn`t go to heaven and stay there. Likely a one and done scene that serves more as exposition.

I doubt she will have real influence on him As I understand it what she will do is give him some necessary exposition that influences his decision a la "wow, these angels are not useful to me, bye". In that, yes, it impacts him but any other angel giving him that same exposition would have had the same effect. It`s not like any of them would be the kind of angel Michael would want or expect.

Quote

**Why would Sam be spending time figuring out what happens to different vessels and different angels? He already knows this shit.  Also, why is Castiel in handcuffs and beaten up and who did it? Did Sam beat up Cas?

Now this is just WTF. Cas` state in that picture makes no real sense. And Sam looking into "angels/vessesl" plural makes no sense. What, is he looking for a nice substitute to present to Michael so he can vacate Dean? If he is trying to figure out a good way to get Michael expelled from Dean, he personally already knows the main ones. So really, WTF?

Well, maybe for the PR people, the fact that Michael wanted to use Dean as a vessel to stop Lucifer from destroying the world in both cases is similar enough for them?

My interpretation:

Show writer #1: "Oh crap, do we have anything for Sam to do?"

Show writer #2: "What does Sam usually do?"

Show writer #3: "Well, lately he gets in trouble and someone has to save him."

Show writer #2: "That's not going to work, because Dean is Michael right now, so he can't save Sam... I know! Didn't Sam used to research a lot? We can have him research!"

Show writer #1: "But how can we fit that into the current plot? Isn't everyone supposed to be looking for Dean?"

Show writer #3: "I know! We can have Sam research angel... stuff. That'll give him something to do until Dean figures out a way to save himself."

Show writer #2: "Brilliant! Think of something for Sam to research that sounds sort of relevant, but isn't really all that helpful, so he doesn't get answers right away. That'll keep him busy..."

Show writer #3: "Like what happens when angels use people as vessels."

Show writer #1: "Wait, but wouldn't Sam know that, because he was an angel vessel himself? Twice?"

Show writer #2: "Pfff that was way back in season 9. No one remembers that..."

I think you're giving the writers way too much credit. By saying they're deliberately trying to make Sam look bad, you're implying they actually *plan* stories in advance *and* try to fit them into the current plot.  :)

No.  In the Nature/Nurture feature on the DVD Beren's specifically said that Dean did it to save Sam.   Nothing about trying to save the world not even as an afterthought..  So I expect it to be part of the multiple lessons Dean will be made to learn in the aftermath, and part of the "stop treating Sam like a child lesson" that the show started last season and sounds like will continue this season.  Dean's losing the last role he had left, the leadership of Team Free Will.

I agree with you and further add that it was made clear that Lucifer was going to be more dangerous to the universe than AU Michael. Yet Berens only mentions Dean's motive as saving Sam. Who knows. Maybe Berens is playing the PR spin game for those fans that only want Dean to have Sam at the center of his universe.

Heh. I get what you are going for here. I still think,  given all the buildup to Sam polishing his leadership skills I don't think they'll totally sacrifice his growth thus far.

And let's be real, there is no show bible anymore. None of the writers give a shit about continuity or past SL or that anything makes any sense. And even when they tie something to past canon, it's nonsensical retcon(IMO, YMMV) and subverts canon more than enhances.

And sadly, they woefully underestimate or choose to actively ignore that longtime viewers, who they count on to return year after year, who do remember continuity and canon,  all for whatever plot they want that day and that moment.

Do they think it's an anthology show where each season it's new characters or something? I mean this isn't American Horror Story after all. And each season isn't a standalone mini series.   Maybe that's what they are trying to re-engineer this into an anthology series  so they can keep "Supernatural" on the masthead and just swap the players.  I swear

Though I suspect the latter, the former is just another example of bad planning on the part of the writing/showrunning team. Why they would have Sam, of all people, destroy so much knowledge and weaponry is just beyond the pale.

Or maybe they just put the magic egg back up the same butt they pulled it out of in the first place. :P

I swear I think they were writing for the end of SPN and the beginning of Wayward Sisters so Jody got to kill Hess. Oops.

The only smart thing to do is for them to do is for Jody and some of the hunters working from a list of  to scavenge from the bunker before they blew it up and Sam put in some storage lockers like John would have.

I can't understand why it's not even been a sneak peek. Not even a tiny bit and why it's not in the promo photos either since it's well known it was shown at SDCC. The only thought I have is that it's either such a brilliant and possibly disturbing scene they don't want to ruin it ....Or it's been cut.

I'm leaning towards it's been cut.

ETA: the other thought I just had is that they are doing a special premiere for EW so maybe it's all being held for those lucky few.

I mean Jensen had to remind him that Michael has powers.  So I'm not sure he realizes he's supposed to be writing a powerful arch angel.

Ugh. And yeah, even in her interactions with Lucifer they pulled that crap. Ugh, again. I SO wish they'd give us something(anything!) to get our blood pumping a little bit more over S14. Everything they've talked about in interviews and spoilers after that CC scene has sucked out loud, and hasn't even really hinted at anything that we couldn't have discerned from the finale-except JP's beard, of course. :-/ *sighs*

want him to bring the Menace.

^^ Something Jensen is very apt at bringing.  The cold look Demon Dean gives Crowley sends shivers down my spine no matter how many times I watch that scene.  But Supernatural has moved into the realms of lightweight.  Plus all those fans that want Dean as Dean and the bros joined at the hip and hunting together (family and all that) are very raucous.

I don't know why Michael would be talking to Sister Jo except that they want to tickle our fancies.  But it looks like boring ol' Heaven will feature in the new season. SJ has a management plan to keeps the lights on I guess.

That was so frakking great. He was terrifying.  He wasn't having any of Crowley's shit. My hope is that because AU Michael has a lot of swagger and he backed up that swagger and seemed to be able to control a lot of angels and many humans via hook or crook that he's doing that with Sister Jo.

Sadly, I still think they are trying to build up the female empowerment by tearing down the males and making them look a lot worse than they are.  The "Bad Place" was a shit fest in that regard. Not only did they make Dean into a huge bully with a gun to a teen, they had Sam look pretty meek and unwilling to speak up and Jack was basically using her. The only reason Cas escaped that nasty turn was being in prison with Lucifer. So yeah I can see them doing that with Michael!Dean. And I'm sure they will all think it's hilarious that someone wearing Dean gets put down by women...you know because...reasons.

Other than AU Michael wanting to understand this world, I don't see why he doesn't make a beeline for Heaven and just take over. And other than the chance for them to write for Danneel specifically,  and Jensen, why would he waste his time on a nobody angel?  Other than thinking he can glean some knowledge from her since she was Lucifer's "Queen" for a hot minute before she told him off and walked out (which was LOL worthy. I don't even like Lucifer, but that was just so dumb). It clearly made no difference in Lucifer so how much influence does she really have?

Why doesn't he just zip in and grab Cas from the bunker if he wants to understand what makes humans and angels tick from the ONE angel who's spent the MOST time with humans and has been influenced the most by them, especially by the one that AU Michael happens to be wearing?  I suppose they are just going to ignore that little detail....LOL. Heck even Dean's mind would give him some insight on Cas. sure hope Sam doubled down on the angel warding and that's why Michael!Dean doesn't go to Cas...cause otherwise he doesn't have a good reason.

But nope instead he's going to have an encounter with Anael.  I hope this is just to close out HER story and Danneel's arc and not have it really matter to AU Michael in the end.

Given what he said to the man in the clip from SDCC, (thank you to the person who recorded it BTW), he seems to have great disdain for hypocrites. I can see him thinking she's not worthy because either she helps humans or because she takes their money instead of helping them for free, when she has the power to do so.  I hope it's the latter and he judges her harshly for that.

I mean there must be a reason why AU Michael's angels turned on humans in the AU. They were allies from what I recall until the angels turned. Maybe AU Michael was absent like Prime!Michael and it was always Zachariah and maybe even AU Cas doing the harm to humanity and AU Michael wanted something else He was really interested in opening another portal to another world. Maybe he wanted to start over and the smiting and torture of humans might not have been on his agenda the entire time.

I would love to find out that AU Michael was much more like Prime!Michael and he only was out to kill AU Lucifer and so the Apocalypse happened because he never had his true Vessel.  I mean if the theory that others have that this is just a split off timeline then he should have had some other true vessel and whether that was Christan Keyes or not. I want to know why he said yes to AU Michael.  Was there another Cain and Abel that he descended from. Does he have a brother that said yes to AU Lucifer?

Maybe because Mary said no, someone else said yes and Christian Keyes and his brother (or sister) became targets. So by Mary not making the deal, she ended up destroying the world anyway.  What if Christian Keyes' Michael was a hunter himself. We know nothing about him. How much he's he still able to remember.  Is he basically the AU Dean?  That would be really interesting to me.

Also, did Lucifer damage Michael's grace so that he can only teleport but doesn't have ALL the power he had before?

I agree that Jensen can totally bring the menace. Not only that cold look to Crowley which definitely promised something but if you've ever seen the end of MBV (the movie)  . . .  wow! I really wish they would allow Jensen to flex those muscles more. He definitely can bring it so much in so many ways!

Those Dean as Dean and bi-bro at the hip fans aren't the only ones who have helped this show become what it is. I sincerely wish these idiots would realize it and actually work for everyone. There are ways to please everyone during different parts of the season but that would actually take WORK and TALENT which is definitely 2 things these writers, the showrunner and especially the exec producer do not have and definitely do not want. It's beyond sad. But it says something that I hadn't even watched the SDCC clip for this year until last week after hearing all the SSDD crap they are doing which does NOTHING for this Dean fan as Dean/Jensen is always the one who gets shortchanged each season for the past 4-5 years.

I don't mind Sister Jo either way but honestly believe that Dean would be the best resource with Cas being a close second for Michael to know what this world and Heaven are like. I guess Sister Jo could confirm what Dean knows but I don't see any reason for her to be Michael's go to unless the lazy writers just want to play on JA and DH's marriage. They probably will do that because that's just the lazy, shock and awe writing these writers love which makes me nauseous.

*sigh* the rest of my thoughts should probably go to the BvJ thread.

Has there ever been a more lackluster lead up to a new season than this? I am honestly baffled. I mean, I get that the network and the @cw_spn twitter and Facebook runners don't give a f**k about the viewers show (the Facebook page is promoting the Charmed reboot, ffs), but even the cast is showing no interest. The premiere is three weeks away. The interviews with Dabb and Company are confusing and conflicting. There are barely any photos or real tidbits out there. J2M are tweeting and talking about everything but the show. I guess if you're lucky/important enough to attend the EW screening you might be getting excited, but for us mere mortals - nada. They can't/won't even give us the super-sekrit ComicCon snippet. I seriously wondering why I should GAF at this point.

The con before Charlotte, Jensen mentioned he was still having trouble with the direction of the character so Im guessing he doesn't play him that much.  What he does play is probably a variation of the same scene.    So what does he really have to talk about?

I personally think that's just Jensen giving us something, and in his usual self-effacing way, downplaying his own talent. I don't believe for a minute he is actually having any trouble with it. I surely hope that he's being given the support, praise and encouragement he lavishes on others.
