Wahlberg looked like he wanted to be everywhere else but on that couch. Also: his Stonehenge shtick was annoying. We get it, you're too cool to have ever heard anything about the place or at least you like to pretend you are. Holland did well for his first outing. Sienna Miller really tried to make things work but she was an odd fit for a couch touting Transformers, Planet of the Apes and Spiderman. And I don't think you need to explain the plot of 'Cat on a hot tin-roof' in such detail. Harrelson and Serkis were fun but I wish they had been there from the beginning.

And I hate it when celebrities think it's cool to pull the lever on everybody - it comes across as self-indulgent. Especially when they won't allow people to even begin with their story.

Wahlberg and I were in total agreement, I didn't want him on the couch either. Tom Holland was fun, and while I'm not a fan of Sienna Miller she seemed a good sport. I felt kind of bad for Serkis being prompted to do his Gollum voice on command, but it is amazing to watch some of the technical details of his work as the world's preeminent motion capture artist.

I guess they heard you.  That didn't air in the U.S.

I agree, yet when Graham does it I think it's hilarious.  I don't recall him doing it to everybody on an episode (we get truncated versions of the Big Red Chair), but I've seen him do it on occasion and he'll have a pained look on his face and say something like, "I just can't..."

Has anyone else noticed the music they've started playing near the end of some segments, right before the commercial?  It's like when they play people off on awards shows.  They don't do it all the time, and I've noticed it only recently.  I can't figure out why they do it.

Another +1.
Speaking of which, it's just my silly theory but it seems to me that bar some occasions where there's someone specifically brought for a certain guest, when Graham feels like the couch guests talk part was good and would have enough materials to fill the time he tends to pull the lever (or let the guest do) more readily.

He always has a too-cool-for-school vibe that's totally unearned, IMO.

White male privilege. He's the douchiest person to ever be on the couch. I sometimes disagree with what seems to be the consensus here about some guests on the show, like Nicole Kidman whom I always find adorable, but with Wahlberg I am completely there with you all. He's awful.

What was the Stonehenge shtick?

I watched this with my sister -- a recent convert to the show -- and before the show started, she said she loved Mark Wahlberg and didn't like Woody Harrelson. I said nothing at that point but felt the opposite way. Well, as I watched, my feelings were confirmed. Wahlberg was a boring stiff, and Harrelson was engaging. I did tell her when the show was over that I felt the opposite of her. She was surprised.

Anyway, other than Wahlberg, I thought it was a good show. Andy Serkis was a highlight. I loved when he showed the simple difference betw standing as a gorilla and as a chimp. Even the audience "oooh'ed."

I agree with others here about guests who pull the lever on Red Chair sitters. I'm sure it's fun for them, but it's annoying to me.

I think I know what you mean. I don't think it's anything new.

The Transformers crew was shooting some scenes at Stonehenge - as usual they were not allowed to shoot within Stonehenge and had to create a fake Stonehenge. But they were getting close access and when Norton pointed out that that was quite special Wahlberg was all 'Why is it so special? I could build one of those in my backyard. What happened there? Why did they build it? What are the stones about? At least we know what the Egyptians pyramids were about.' And on and on as if he never heard anything about Stonehenge before.

If you can find it, you should show your sister the clip of Wahlberg's previous experience on Graham Norton where he appeared ass-drunk and even climbed on Graham's lap making the host uncomfortable. Most cringe worthy chat show interview. Ugh.

He apparently hasn't seen Spinal Tap or he'd know it's not that easy to build your own Stonehenge.

They do it to sort-of-ish-kinda-maybe cover for some very awkward edits where they crop bits out. I'm assuming said terrible edits are specifically for the US broadcast, since that's the only airing I get to see and it's so conspicuous, but I don't know for certain. But the play-off music vibe is basically happening to cover that there actually wasn't really a good space there for a cut, but they cut anyway.
