I just can’t watch this show with her as co-host. Why must she always say “Awwww” at least three times per episode?  It’s just as disturbing and overused as the Duggar family’s use of “precious”.

Bleah....

I used to watch this show, but I can't stand Debbie either. She cries at the drop of a hat - get a grip! She's just obnoxious. I like Mark, and watched for a while after she took over hosting from Cristina, but he's not enough to make up for Debbie.

Sounds like they pulled a “Cristina” to me. Here one day, gone the next.  I wonder who they will replace him with - Debbie can’t host this by herself.  (Maybe Lawrence?  Ken probably won’t want the gig since his partner and children live in San Francisco.)

Frankly, I think they fired the wrong co/host.

It's always fascinating to watch how the departures of key cast members on this specific series are handled.   If it's one of the supporting cast (family) members and not a main host, they will just begin to feature them less prominently over a span of time, phasing them out slowly, and we will see them less and less often until they are finally just... gone.

But when it is one of the primary hosts of the show that is leaving (whether by their own choice or by the network's choice), the other host left on the show is forced to make up dumb stories about how the suddenly-absent host is "enjoying a vacation" or "enjoying time with family", etc., etc., to make it seem like nothing out of the ordinary is going on.   That happened with Cristina Ferrare -- when she suddenly vanished from the show, Mark had to  say that she was enjoying a vacation or whatever, until they finally 'fessed up and admitted she was gone for good.   (Coincidentally, Cristina was booted off in May, right around Memorial Day, and  it seems that Mark has left in May too -- so it is very tied into contracts being up for renegotiating at a specific time, I think.)

Now...  they did the same kind of anticlimactic thing with Mark.  Of course, today the cast was allowed to officially acknowledge that Mark was no longer on the show.   And I realize that they are a TV show and a network, and they are not obligated to tell their viewers all of what goes on behind the scenes to lead to someone's departure.  But for a show that is supposed to convey a feeling of connection and warmth, closeness, friendliness, home and family, it is very odd that the main hosts who leave are never given the chance to actually deliver a personal goodbye to the fans.  They put in years of time and work, and their viewers feel like they know them as friends or family, and yet they are not given a few minutes to say goodbye on the show -- even in a pre-taped segment.  Instead, their former cast members have to give some vague statement about it that leaves viewers feeling empty and cheated.    It's so... cold, in a way.

I had heard that Mark was on vacation so didn't really tune in to the show like I normally would because I wasn't a fan of the guest hosts. It seemed like his vacation was lasting forever so did some digging and found out that he was let go. It's really a shame since he was my favorite on the show and I probably wont tune in anymore. I usually have it on as background noise anyway but I was surprised to find myself actually liking a daytime talk show (they normally aren't my thing). It's too bad. I thought he was funny, sarcastic and witty enough to provide some laughs for me.

I believe Mark. Woody has been a creepy old dude even from the old “Home Show” days on ABC. In the past when Woody would say or do something creepy the hosts would just try to roll their eyes and laugh it off. That kind of behavior doesn’t fly as easily anymore. Good for Mark for standing up for his coworkers. I hope he finds another gig soon or that he’s able to make a living with his photography. If the show’s ratings slipped it was because people were not happy with the way Cristina was sent off and replaced with Debbie.

I kinda remember him from the first go around of Home & Family on The Family Channel too where he was the creepy guy who was a BTS person you wouldn't think would be around on camera.

The quotes in those articles made me nauseous. I, too, also got the same creepy vibe whenever the exec producer appeared on the show. I can't even imagine how the guests or producers must be feeling right now.

I did some digging to see if I could learn more and those tweets on the channel's twitter statement as well as the comments around different articles support Mark's case.

I also stumbled on a few allegations from years back with the same claims ( how long has this been going on??) And then I saw pics and mention of who the executive producer used to mentor. Everything connected together.

Yes, good for Mark. He just always came across as a classy guy and was my favorite part of Home and Family. His exit was so abrupt that I couldn't imagine what the hell happened for them to get rid of him so quickly. It makes sense now. I haven't watched Home and Family since Mark left but I do follow him on social media. I hope something comes of this lawsuit.

OK, I'll go...

When Mark Stienes was fired, I'll admit that I felt bad for the guy. However, in retrospect, I do believe he'd begun to make the show too much about "his" family instead of about the Hallmark family assembled there.

IMHO Cameron Matthison is doing a much better job of simply hosting the show while contributing a peek at his family* from time to time.

*and yes, I saw the episode with ancestry dot com. Even that was non-cringeworthy.

Mark just won a procedural victory in his court case. The defense tried to have the case thrown out, but the judge ruled that there is enough evidence to continue on with the case. My guess is that they’ll eventually settle, but this gives Mark’s side some leverage.

Where did you find out about it on the hallmark boards though?

I was doing a search about where the show went and came upon the hallmark forums. Then I came here, figuring I would find out the scoop, which I did! (We are awesome here!) I had seen the Facebook clip above posted by @MikaelaArsenault so I went back over to hallmark and posted the Facebook link there. The fans on the hallmark forums were so upset and didn't seem to know about the hiatus either.

Hope that makes sense!

looks like hallmark doesn't do forums on their website.

Thank you so much for posting the Facebook update.

Here is a video that was posted on September 9:

On today's show, Cameron Mathison shared an update on his health with us. In a few days, he'll be taking a week or so off to focus on getting better. We will miss Cam while he's gone, and wish him a full and speedy recovery.

I see that nobody has posted here in 2020 so I don’t know if anybody will even see my post, but...

I’ve only recently came across this show and while there are parts of it I very much enjoy, specially the arts and crafts, I find that Cameron Mathison is the most pompous person I think I’ve ever seen on TV.  I don’t know why they even have guests on because he constantly talks over them and makes every segment that he is in all about him and whatever he is working on. It gets increasingly more difficult to not focus on how narcissistic he is - in my opinion he really ruins the show. I get that he had his own cancer journey but so have I and so have millions of other people so he really needs to stop looking at the camera and making odd movements with his hands and arms just to compel the audience to make the show all about him. Thankfully I have the ability to record it so I can fast forward sometimes when he is on, but in the parts where there is a guest chef or DIY specialist on and I so much want to hear what they have to say, he almost always makes that hard to do - he continually turns EVERYTHING around to and about him. I also wonder if his colleagues on the show (or probably peons in his eyes) secretly don’t enjoy working with him either, it’s hard to tell because everybody is always 100% on their best behavior. Just wondering if I am the only one that notices his egotistical ways?

You hit the nail on the head as far as I’m concerned. There’s been something bugging me about Cameron and I think he’s become even more insufferable this year.  He is almost too earnest and is starting to come off as insincere.

Something about those former AMC stars turned talk show hosts:)  They are hard to watch.

Cameron just comes off too over the top which seems fake . He’s just too perfect and a “nice guy” to the extreme. He also just has a horrible  voice and way of talking .  He’s almost shrill when he doesn’t take a breath . He sounds like an auctioneer when he rambles !  I do not think for one moment think he is that wholesomel!  I think he was desperate for a job after his night time entertainmentshow  stint when the soap went off the air , and he’s trying hard to appeal to the people who make up the traditional Hallmark audience

I do not get why no one ever talks to him about his speaking voice and delivery !

Debbie doesn’t seem fake , but she seems super sappy !
