Rinaldo August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 (edited) Painful fall for Epke, but he came back and did a whole medal-worthy routine. But there's that unignorable fall. 14.033. How he must feel. And I've been looking forward to him in particular. Edited August 16, 2016 by Rinaldo 1 Link to comment

briochetwist August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 This entire thread baffles and confounds me. I watch on CBC, not NBC, which clearly is the jr high network, because I haven't heard of any of these ridiculous and petty controversies. From watching CBC I thought all of the American ladies were amazing, did their country proud and supported each other. Not really sure what the rest of this crap is about! Awesome job ladies, congrats! 1 Link to comment

kittykat August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone the ALTERNATE grabbed two medals in one day. Either way I'm glad at least one guy is medalling. I know we've talked a lot of crap about this team but medalwise they were better than London (Danell's AA bronze was the lone US medal). I'm glad Sam went out on high note with a clean routine (tears of fourth). I do hope they double down on expectations for Tokyo. Even if they have to code whore it for a while. Great games for Alex Naddour and Danell Leyva. I'm sorry for Jake Dalton and Sam but they just didn't deliver when it counted. I wouldn't be surprised if the Tokyo 4 was all fresh blood. emma675 August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 Way to go, Leyva! I'm happy someone from the men's team finally medaled (and it wasn't Sam). We're all planning to head over to the rhythmic gymnastics thread now, right? Right?! I'm going to miss posting with you guys! 1 Link to comment
choclatechip45 August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 (edited) Both guys who medaled coaches are coached by their dads. Naddour left NCAA early and Leyva never did NCAA. Neither have trained at OTC. Wonder if this will make USA Men's gymnastics rethink things. 16 minutes ago, DawnDavenport said: #BooHoo. Time to move on. Now. Sam might make it gay porn. Not sure was Dalton. I don't feel that bad. Hopefully USA gym moves on from them. Can someone explain to me all this talent Sam supposedly has? Under the new code this is the most medals USA Mag has won. NUguy514 August 16, 2016 Share August 16, 2016 Wow, the US came away with twelve medals between the men and the women, the most we've ever won in a fully attended Games. Great Britain had the second most with seven. I still can't believe an American man medaled on pommel horse (*checks outside for flying pigs*), but good for Alex! And I'm so thrilled for Danell! I wish he had won parallel bars, but Horton did a great job of explaining why Oleg's score was fair. Danell's silver on high bar was exactly right, and I'm so thrilled Fabien FINALLY won that damn gold medal!! The floor medalists – perfect. Simone goes out on top, Aly proves that she's a better gymnast now than she was in London, and Amy wins GB's first floor medal. Today was a MUCH better day than yesterday (except for Sanne's and Laurie's beam routines, which were fabulous). 5 Link to comment

Can someone explain to me all this talent Sam supposedly has? Didn't you see? Sam was nipping at Kohei's heels all competition! He's as good or better than Kohei and is going to dominate until Tokyo! Seriously, Dalton and Mikulak have two Olympics to prove themselves and they under-performed both times. It's sad when the alternate gets two sliver event medals and the other first timer gets a bronze on the US's weakest event. Time to move on. He had four years to make a name for himself and couldn't deliver. At least with Kwan after '98, she continues to win Worlds and stayed competitive despite people saying she should retire and make room for the next wave of youngsters. Turns out, none of them except Hughes got lucky and beat her. Edited August 16, 2016 by DawnDavenport 2 Link to comment

Also, Sam is much more outgoing than Danell. I wonder if Danell gets annoyed with all the attention Sam gets? I bet he will now if he doesn't get recognized. Both he and Alex salvaged the Men's team in Rio. I'm sure it'll still be Sam, Sam, Sam until he (hopefully soon) leaves. 2 Link to comment
