Those dummies should apportion a section of MSNBC to the books/authors they've had on.  They should build a Twitter feed to promote the books and promote discussion.

Also, the promotion of authors could be a business.  It'd be profitable for them.  Self promotional: lists, comments, rankings, etc...
And it's something Mika could actually do. that isn't embarrassing fake flim flammery

There should be a special section for Mika & Joe's books. They were bestsellers & should have won numerous Pulitzer Prizes.

I don't mind the book promoting. But I have no use for Eddie because of his "if you live in a blue state don't bother to vote" in 2016 mantra.

That also goes for Lawrence O'Donnell too whom I stopped watching after the 2016 election because he had started every show with "the man who will never become president" during the 2016 election cycle .

Last week MJ had Farid Zacharia on to talk about his new book. It was the best segment of the show. I like when CNN and MSNBC have each other's show personalities on because they know they share the same audience

tres bien.... I thought it was just me who has no use for Eddie G.  And thinks Lawrence O'D has become a pompous stealth blowhard.  For all his ridiculous bluster and bloviating - I prefer Joe.  He makes a show of being more himself. And he can speak about more than just politics. And can sometimes make me laugh.

I get tired a bit tired  of the regular MJ panelists shilling books.

I don't know how many viewers care about the books. Although Doris Kearns Goodwin was on today with her new book about her husband and with her gravitas as a historian I always like seeing her

I guess my tiredness of regular hosts and analysts coming on MJ to talk about their books is that they aren't just on MJ or, say, Nicole Wallace.  They seem to appear on every single show on the network. Answering the same questions, etc.  Nice work if you can get it, though. I sure would if I could.

Eddie Glaude was back today to continue to promote his book. Willie said everyone was excited about his new book.

Joe told a story of the late Florida Governor requesting a meeting with Joe when he was elected to Congress.

He was a 3 term Senator & 2 term Governor but knew that Joe would be an excellent Congressman who would finally get a balanced budget. Mika beamed at Joe .

For what it's worth, they have a lot of authors on, not just the stable of regulars.  I'd go into specifics, but I forget and there's no compendium of appearances to refer to.  Seems dumb not to monetize that.  Super easy to do.

This may not cover every author, but if you Google "Authors who have appeared on morning joe" video clips come up with the segment where the author talked about their book.

I saw the IG post about Mika and her scam being honored at NAN, so I guess it's not just women who have to worship at the altar of KYV, or be disinvited from the show.

Eddie Glaude was on again today, talking about his book. Since a good many regular guests have written books….have they all been on as frequently to discuss?  Other than John Meacham?

Joe said he pushed Gingrich to get the budget balanced. He said people are tired of backbenchers like MTG & Boebert trying to stop aid to Ukraine.

Joe admitted he pushed Gingrich hard on the budget but there was a backlash against him. Luckily the rest of Congress realized Joe was right.

Joe said Johnson deserves praise for getting aid to Ukraine.

Joe said the GOP should have supported Lankford on the border bill.

I am seriously tired of the book promos, but when the book has a topic as patently bullshit as Eddie Glaude's "we can be the leaders we need," my tolerance is zero.   He has been making the rounds of all the shows on MSNBC.

Inquiring minds want to know where these people find the time and energy to write these books.    I'm a writer and I struggle to find any time to work on my own projects because my day is consumed with my paying job.   I suspect they use their notoriety to pitch ideas to literary agents, the agents find them a sweetheart deal with a publisher, the publishing house assigns an editor and possibly a ghostwriter to work with them, and only then does the "writing" of the book begin.

Joe was able to take time off from the show when he was writing his last book on President Harry Truman.

Mika was signed to write three books with Harvey Weinstein's company before his arrest. I think she was planning to have a ghostwriter help her.

I remember when Mika co-wrote her last book on food, but she kept making fun of her co-author because she gained weight.

He had to write it because he ran out of stuff for "Ali's Banned Book Club".

I just had it on for a minute this morning, Mika is watching Palm Royale and she LOVES IT!!!  Probably because it is described on IMDB as: "An ambitious woman schemes to secure her seat at America's most exclusive table."

Sound familiar?

She didn't want to watch "Masters of the Air" on their Apple TV app, there aren't any women that she can claim know their value, also she still doesn't understand how planes work.

Senator Mike Bennett was on, so Joe made a list of all the "Mikes" in Congress.

This is information you can only get from a trusted source like MSNBC.

During his rant about protesters on elite campuses this morning, Joe managed to laud both Reagan and Mika’s father. Within seconds of each other. Well played. And then……

Joe brought on the soccer guy (sorry, can’t remember his name). Mika asked why he was on at that particular moment. And to make it brief. 😎 And then….they went to the story of Kristy Noem shooting her puppy and goat in the gravel pit.

This story is horrible enough on its own; but Meeka did her “cry” voice and Joe was not having that. He kept interrupting her.  Watching the interaction between them made me slow sip my tea and narrow my eyes. Hmmmmm. And then….Meeka worked in one of her besties - Adrienne Elrod - getting recognized for something. Can’t remember what. Because as soon as I heard Adrienne’s name I thought KYV so jumped  up to warm my tea.

It was a classic Morning Joe today.

Joe warned that Trump will win if the campus protests continue.

Joe said he remembered the campus riots in 1968 when he was 5 years old. Joe was sad when MLK & RFK were assassinated.

Rev Al said he was a manager of a civil rights group at age 14. He worked with MLK.

Rev Al said he was arrested 30 times.

That was a wild 12 or so minutes of TV.  Joe was an absolute gasbag blowhard about students electing Trump and ruining the world.  And then Rog, then Mika's crazy rudeness, then Mika acting bizarre about that lunatic Noem shooting her dog.
Btw, it went from "16 month old dog," to "dog," to "puppy," to "sweet puppy."  You don't have to manipulate language, Mike, to impart the fact Noem is a pet killing ****.
Weird they didn't talk about WHY Noem would proudly tout this in her book.

Anyhow, that was a wild ride of whipsawing through very different topics fast.

Joe is still at it this morning.

And Eugene is saying "kids seem to be more sympathetic to Palestine".

Really? I'll be 71 next week, I am completely sympathetic to Palestine and have been for years. I know no one who isn't sympathetic, and we aren't anti semitic at all.

Joe needs to STFU.  He seems to be surprised young people don't know about the history of Israel/Palestine and the Middle East in general.

Just spit balling here, but maybe if Joe's party wasn't constantly cutting funding to public education,  kids would have knowledge of world and US History.

Why not have people on that know the entire story of this conflict, instead of constantly having Jonathan Greenblatt on.

I remember VietNam protests, it was the same thing.  You always have outsiders stirring shit and then the kids who are just there in a sit in type situation, or holding rallies, get called "hardened Terrorists", by people like Joe.

Calling in the national guard ends up being a Kent State situation. Is that what you want, Joe?

I was a teenager during the Vietnam war. Last week I felt like I had woken up to 1968.

However out of control it was there is a huge difference. We have no dog in the fight. We aren't turning on the TV every night to hear Walter Cronkrite give us the daily US soldier death toll and show the war to us at during the dinner hour. And there was the draft.

This is so misdirected. I agree with Joe about everything he's said about these students. I said as much to my husband last week. Throw them out of school and off these campus. If they want to support the Palestinians let them go there and do it.

How long would they last.

US troops will be over there to build a temporary pier off the coast of Gaza to get aid to Palestinians. Generals are worried about attacks  or an "accidental" IDF shelling, blamed on Hamas, to stop aid from getting into Gaza.

Gaza has no seaports, because Israel won't "allow" them.

I know someone whose son is a Captain in the Army and is involved in this endeavor.  They were just waiting for funding bill to be signed to get it going.

And as long as we are providing aid and weapons to Israel, and Israel is using them to shell hospitals and civilians, IMO we do have a dog in this fight.

It goes without saying no one agrees with attacking Jewish students or any other Jewish people, and if a student is caught doing that  or destroying property, they should be expelled and charged criminally if appropriate. But bringing attention to what innocent Palestinians are going thru, as well as the World Central Kitchen workers, who were killed by IDF, is a just cause.

This isn't about Israelis as a people, it's about what Netanyahu has done to Israel, which is part of why Israelis, including the former Prime Minister, want him gone.  Majority of Israelis want to live in peace with Palestine, and are as tired of this mess as the rest of us, if not more so.

Of course I respect your opinion, just wanted to share my thoughts.

I agree with one thing Joe said,  that young people getting their information from TikTok is akin to reading about Aliens in the NY Post, but Joe is educated enough to see that this campus protest  issue isn't as black and white as he claims.

Get back to trashing Trump and dog murderers, Joe.

I lived on a college campus during the height of the Vietnam protests.  It was a different time and cause; meaning comparing these two huge protest movements is not the best way to explain what is the issue now.  An unpopular war that US soldiers (draftees) were called on to fight.  It was personal; and touched most all families in this country.

This time the issue is different, although just as terrible; passions are inflamed and things are volatile.  And like Vietnam, not all involved in these protests are in it for the cause.  That is the only similarity. Joe (and others on the show) should realize this; they do themselves and us no favors by ranting and bloviating.  It is insulting to viewers to hear Joe and Company's efforts to boost their egos and social media profiles.

My comparison to Vietnam protests was only about calling in police and national guard at the campuses.

I was a teenager during Vietnam and know at the beginning everyone thought the kids were a bunch of dumb rabble rousers wasting their parents' money, but eventually the tide turned with the news starting to question the motives. Releasing the Pentagon Papers and losing Cronkite didn't help either.

And as long as the US funds Israel's war effort, our tax dollars are going to a government that seems hell bent on not just fighting Hamas, but clearing Palestinians out permanently. Netanyahu said whether or not there's a cease fire deal, he's attacking Rafah.

Story I heard on NPR about this said Northwestern is handling it as well as possible and it seems to be staying relatively peaceful. This is after they made students remove tents, etc.  No tents, no sound systems and as long as students don't break campus policy, no anti Muslim or anti Israeli/Jewish acts of harassment, etc. they can protest until June 1

As noted above, it would be extremely helpful if members of Congress, pundits, etc would STFU with their opinions or remarks about how stupid the protestors are.   They seem to think the First Amendment only applies to them.

What protests would Joe be happy with?  He always seems to find a way to denigrate anyone who doesn't uphold his standards of conduct, which are both laughable and the height of hypocrisy.

Off topic, Joe telling Mika "enough" re " Kristi the dog/goat, oh and three of her horses" killer was insulting, not only to Mika but to everyone who is furious about what she did.

If these had been Black Lives Matter protesters, the police and national guard would've been called in on all of these protesting campuses at the very beginning.

Just sayin'.

Also, I wonder how many of these protesters got their student loan debt canceled because of Biden's policies.

Again, just sayin'.

I think Joe is making a mountain range out of a molehill here with the campus issue.  They slept outside.  Chanted some.  Occupied a building that they left when asked.  Unless Joe's airbnb is on NYU's campus, I don't get his endless negative fascination with what is the point of democracy exercised by the civilian body you'd expect this from and would hope behave this way.  For fuck's sake.

Memba 3 weeks ago when he was neck-vein screaming, spittle flecked ranting about Israeli missiles assassinating Jose Andre's aid workers?  I remember.  Joe doesn't.  The most important takeaway of Netanyahu murdering aid workers is that NYU students need to stop wasting their tuition and queue in an orderly line to get into class.

He kind of gets to have his cake and eat it here.  Pretty sure I know what his brood at Alabama and their frat bros and sorority sisters think of Jews and Muslims.  It affects them insofar as the rapture.  "Well I don't know about Gaza bro, but I do know that Connaugh's and McKenna's dad got us passes to the country club's steeplechase Saturday. Which daytime weekend boots should I wear, bro?"

Joe does seem to have a bug up his ass about anyone protesting anything.

Did he hear about how Ohio State and IU have snipers positioned on roof tops around the protestors?   It amazes me how some universities sit down with the protestors and work out a plan so that protestors are allowed to gather, but must adhere to certain rules, while others let things get to the point where they think they need the state police to position people on roof tops aiming high powered rifles at a bunch of kids in tents.

Joe, the First Amendment allows you to sit on a tv set and say stupid shit, day in and day out. But college kids wanting the US to stop supplying weapons to a government that is murdering innocent civilians, INCLUDING AMERICANS, journalists, aid workers, etc., are a bunch of losers who don't have that same right?

As usual, your "logic" is ten pounds of bullshit shoved in a five pound bag.

I think that Joe is right about the protesters.

It's one thing to peacefully protest to make your point(s), but the longer they go on, the more likely there will be disruption, like at Columbia and UCLA.

I feel sorry for the students who aren't part of the protests, especially those who who'll be graduating in a couple weeks.  They aren't even sure there will be a graduation ceremony.  Also, some of the students living in dorms are probably scared shitless.

As with most issues, not everything is black and white. It is sad that Joe (and most of his regular sycophants) cannot articulate this; rather than screaming, shouting, and finger pointing.  Having someone on who can calmly and rationally explain the different facets of these protests - who, exactly is showing up; who is leading them; what do the students (I do know they are not all students) really want. Ranting and raving on-air shows that you only want to hear your own voice.

I dunno.  At this point, it's misbehaving.  In UCLA people showed up who wanted to fight, and they kind of sort of didn't anything more than that.  Washington DC was burning the week after MLK was assassinated.  Los Angeles was burning after Rodney King's verdict.
Some naughty 18 year olds (look at the footage, they're children) stacked desks in a casually used academic building on a campus.  What the fuck is wrong with Joe?  He is LOSING HIS MIND over this.

College students SHOULD protest, it's the fucking point of all of it.  Civil disobedience is a feature of a democracy, not a bug.  It's ugly and disorganized, and these campus brouhahas are a worthless spec in the history that will be written about the genocide in Gaza.

I like how Mika marm-splained how good children should protest to Anand.  "Of course students should protest, but" and then gets shrill and points to footage of desks and chairs stacked in a room, "I WILL NOT STAND FOR THAT!!!!"  I lauughed and lauuughed.
Memba that missile-hole in the top of the aid workers' car?  Roughly stacked desks = the assassination of aid workers.

All of this to say, Joe HATES "elites" and college kids and that ethos.  Except for his children, college is where other kids should learn a trade.  He probably does believe in indoctrination and deeply, deeply resents academia.  And of course as he gets older it gets worse and more frequent.  He has "I Tell Ya, Kids These Days..." tattooed across his back.

Joe the Historian and expert on everything, seems to have forgotten this country was founded on civil disobedience.  In the Boston Massacre, colonists threw rocks at British troops. The troops fired on them and five colonists were killed. The Boston Tea Party (something Joe should love as it was about taxes), happened because colonists, fed up with being taxed, boarded ships and threw tea into the harbor. The British government called that treason.

There is a long history of civil disobedience in order to stop something that is unjust.   Students have the right to assembly, I believe that's something in the Bill of Rights, Joe.

A very good opinion piece about  politicians attacking universities, and how they try to reframe the narrative around protests.   Bringing in police and snipers is not going to end well. We've seen this movie before.

It makes for dramatic footage.  Nothing is happening that shouldn't happen.  There's no actual violence, it's on campuses only, it's cocaine for news outlets to generate outrage.

The great "come at me, bro!" movement of morons taunting morons.  College aged kids are gonna do this.  Barely news worthy.

Also, at the same time, Israel is committing genocide unobstructed.  But let's focus on how aggrieved Joe is about American kids not properly following rules.  "Did you see how they stacked those desks?  It's chaos!"

I'm done with this.

I tuned in briefly this morning; it seemed Joe was off off off the rails. He was sarcastic and condescending about who he is.  The "always Conservative" mentioned something about "never changed in 17 years" - I am assuming he meant since his start on MSNBC.  It was terrible.  Bragged about what his parents stood for, what he stands for, too bad so sad if the audience doesn't like it.

I am in no mood for Joe and his thin skin.  I have to wonder if there have been complaints to the network about his latest talking points and something was said.  But then Meeka, of all people, took a bit of a takedown of Al Sharpton!

He was comparing the student protests to Jan. 6 rioters re how things may fall politically.  Meeka was not having that.  She actually spoke up firmly and told him to basically not go there. Good on her for that.

Joe needs a mandated time-out. And like Crash Course, I think I need a break from this.

Remember when Mika would shame everyone who even looked at sugary fattening foods?  Now it's her drug of choice.

Now if we can just slip some Delta 8 THC chocolate into Joe's breakfast, maybe he'll chill out. Then he won't alienate every viewer and get fired.  Oh wait...that's counter productive to what we've all been hoping for.

Edited to add:

Finally saw a story online describing Joe's hissy fit from yesterday.  Holy shit.

So Joe gets a slap on the hand from TPTB at MSNBC and he doubles down, goes batshit crazy and calls viewers "too stupid to see they're hurting Biden by backing the protests" and "to change the channel and don't watch our show".

Fuck the Delta 8.   Do they still make Quaaludes?

I remember Meeka's war on sugar and Paris Hilton.  Good times...

There was an author on this morning (missed his name and have never seen him before) who has written a book on how we elect our representatives.  The book is apparently about how some states are now going with open primaries and the impact of gerrymandering

The minute the interview started, Katty K (who was doing the interview) told him "quickly, quickly" or some such.  The whole thing lasted maybe three minutes or so.   Poor man was rushing to get the point across....and he managed to do it! The book sounded really interesting.  And a change from the usual.

What I remember from being in college at the time of the draft for the Vietnam War was the "whole" campus was drunk. Whether you were drafted, probably going to be, or safe.

Families were divided on the war too and caused a whole lot of friction.

It was an awful time when we soon saw body bags at Dover.

And of course protests, and Kent State.

Joe was 5!!!

I agreed with Scarborough.  There's a disingenuous quality to the current protests, IMO.   Perhaps it stems from the fact that in the last decade there have been so many serious issues on the domestic front deserving of student activism, but the kids now buying up all the pup tents on Amazon never made a peep.

Danny Cevallos (sp?) on again touting that the prosecution erred in calling Stormy Daniels. Mika disagrees but is too cowed to argue it. When Joe was there last week he confronted Danny on this (they needed her in order to show he did the embarrassing conduct he was trying to hide, and other reasons). Joe very politely, and too easily, gave up real quick and now he never seems to be on when Danny is there. I wish they'd have another attorney guest on at the same time and confront Danny on his erroneous thinking.

Mika was happy that Biden will hold a fundraiser in Hollywood with George Clooney & Julia Roberts attending. Hopefully, Mika will get a free ticket so she can convince Julia Roberts to join KYV.

Joe is mad at Hamas today. He said that they have ruled Gaza for over 15 years with no dissent. They are tyrants. They have a secret police. Engel said Hamas killed the opposition.

Joe supports an Arab peacekeeping force for Gaza. Joe is worried about a Hamas insurgency in Northern Gaza.
