Is Donnie on steroids? Or he's buying his clothes at Abercrombie & Fitch. He looks like an idiot.

Mika is out of control.  Every other host can talk about the post office, insults to Harris, etc and not come off like a raving lunatic.

The blond woman at 8:30 talking about "we have to stop accusing women of sleeping her way to the top" picked the wrong show to try to get that message across.  Mika never worked her way to the top, she wasn't even good enough to be on tv when the sun was up. She was reading news breaks at 3 am. Joe got the hots and tagged her for his co host. They had an affair.  He negotiated her salary.

Now granted, 95% of women do work hard and never get recognized for the work they do, and if they do, they earned it.  But people like Mika are the ones who make it harder for the rest of us.  And the men who do it are to blame.  It's not just the woman's fault for taking a job they can't do.

Maybe she's upset because Joe got put in time out, and she can't handle the show by herself.  At least the producers told every guest, "just agree with her, we know she's a little manic this morning".

I kept thinking "somebody get that woman a hot caramel sundae! STAT!!!"

I think the 5th Avenue remarks are because she watched Rachel last night. Rachel read parts of Michael Cohen's new book, and he wrote in the book  "that remark about shooting someone on 5th Avenue was about me".

So of course, Miss Make Everything About Myself decided because she and hubby rant at Trump and piss him off, he's going to shoot her too.  Give me a break.

And when you want to prove how professional and mature you are, repeat the name you were called over and over and over, ad nauseum.  Because that just gives him more attention. Or you could ignore it.

I think Mika was ranting from one subject and seemingly very stressed.  Susan del Percio was staring at her like WTF.  I feel bad for Mika but if she is that panicked it is time for a break.  I wonder if she'll be on vacation next week.

I was thinking the same about Donnie.  I have some young male friends at work in their TWENTIES who wear those shirts.  The point of the shirt seems to be to show off the arms.  It is not appropriate at Donnie's age.

Idk I still find these decade-old rumors of Mika allegedly "sleeping herself to the top" to be deeply unfair and probably not at all reflective of the actual situation. I can only speak for myself, but there's no way I would have watched this from the beginning if it had only been the Orations of Marcus Aurelius Scarborough, without Mika and Willie. They've both been a huge part of it all since the begining, but YMMV of course.

Generally, I don't pay much attention to outfits that women wear on TV. This morning because of the Know Your Value discussion, the clothing and appearance made more of a statement that it should have.

I've been trying to be sort of honest with myself and examine why it bothers me so much, and I think it's this: it represents this old-fashioned sort of feminism based on ASSIMILATION and IMITATION. Assimilation in the sense that if you're not taken seriously, it's because your clothes are distracting the men, so you better throw on that shroud. It couldn't possibly be that it's THEM who can't keep it in their pants. Imitation in the sense that if you're not heard, it's because you're not brash enough, not shouting enough - it couldn't possibly be that it's THEY who aren't listening.

And in a sense it uses assimilation and imitation as a replacement for what truly matters: developing your own sense of self, and acquiring knowledge and competence and constantly striving to improve. So when Mika responds to being called ditzy etc by wearing clothing devoid of personal taste, and imitating her co-host down to his exact tone of voice and syntax, it sends a terrible message to young girls that's based on constant anxiety and self-censorship, rather than courage, confidence and imagination, feeling comfortable as a woman in one's own skin, with one's own style, one's own voice.

What did she say about the Bush's that got Joe so upset?

She said that both President Bushes administration were bad for African Americans. Joe was reluctant to criticize President George H.W Bush & said that W saved millions of Africans lives by providing HIV medication to HIV patients in Africa.

I was surprised that Joe didn't mention his lifelong commitment to racial justice.

On previous episodes, Joe mentioned that he watched Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream speech " in 1963 with his parents while he was in his crib & was inspired by it.

A few years ago , Donnie admitted to shopping at Gap Kids & buying tight fitting black shirts to make his muscles look bigger than they are. He also told Mika & Joe that it was a good place to meet women.

Yah, you know what, Donnie's shirt WAS ridiculous - but at the same time, I was pretty damn grateful to his beautiful irreverent self, because I HADN'T SEEN IT BEFORE.

That's where I am right now, because you know what, when I picked out the wallpaper of my apartment, I didn't know I was going to end up staring at it 24/7 for 6 + months. I would have bought plants, and maybe a goldfish. Tbh right now any visual change or variety on the tee-vee, however ridiculous, is like a goddamn drop of water in the desert.

Isn't "day trader" one of Joe's favorite put-downs? Is Mika copying off Joe now?

She is! That's why we're so annoyed. She's so much better when she's just being herself, not copying all his pompous dull-ass habits.

HOW DO I GET A SHOT OF DONNY"S SHIRT TODAY??

Mika's clothes:  Honestly I think she wears a sweater because often she has mentioned the studio being cold, and I think she puts on her "office  sweater." You know, walk thru any office where women work and many have a sweater on the back of their chair that has been there for 7 years! This, and a subconcious twinge of wanting to look more intellectual, not look like the gal who nabbed her co-host away from his marriage, not look like those Fox tarts.  That said, for a television news personality on a major network , she looks like a mieskeit, too frumpy for her job. So is Joe when he sports the flannels...

Here you go! Yeah, it's too tight and wrinkly around the upper arms but regardless of everything else, I gotta admit Donnie Deutsch is the only MJ original who hasn't changed and who continues to be funny and irreverent and do his own shit. It's sometimes wildly inappropriate but at least he knows who he is.

That analogy doesn't work at all for McConnell. She needs to look at his legislative history. She may disagree with it, but it is very consistent.

This. The day-trader analogy is a direct transplant from Joe's rants, without reflection or context. She's smart, she grew up in DC, why can't she assess these things independently, and then adjust her assessments to the new context?

McConnell isn't a day trader, he knows exactly what he's doing, and that's been pretty evident, all along, for anyone who has been paying attention.

The question shouldn't be, hey, are the GOP stupid? That's a rhetorical question, and we were all done asking it eight months ago. The question right now is how the hell we can stop this.

I wish these media people could keep up. Sometimes I just want to cry about the fact that they don't, that we all have to drag them after us like dead weight and excess luggage, when they should be at the forefront, asking the relevant questions, defending us, protecting us, before it's too late.

Mika needs an estrogen patch. That was my feeling after watching those panicked cry-yells. Who else behaves like this outside of SNL and Anchorman type shows? Wow.

I don't buy the "cold in the studio" excuse from her. She never covered up her bare arms and legs when they in an actual studio. If she needs temperature control now all she has to do is walk over to the thermostat on her wall. I think the sweaters and same-old same-old tops are her just being lazy. Or her delusional thinking that viewers are so enthralled with what she says no one will notice what she's wearing. Wrong.

I noticed on the Showbuzz.com website that their highest rated show last week was on Thursday - that was also the one day last week (it seemed to me, at least) where they were acting relaxed and natural with each other and friendly and welcoming to their guests, and gave the experts time to speak and the conversations time to breathe.... it really isn't rocket science, guys. Just go back to basics...

I tarted watching the show before 7 am. Mika was interviewing Lemire on his own. She is wearing a new striped top with a black cardigan.

Joe showed up at 7am & said that the mail was important. Kids needs care packages & veterans need their medication.

Joe said millions of people are locked in their homes & depend on the mail for food.

Joe does not want any restructuring of the post office before the election.

Joe is wearing his dark blue jacket. I wonder if they are still in Maine ?

Mika was happy to report that Biden was still leading Trump by 9 points in the NBC poll.

Mika was concerned by the CNN poll that showed Biden leading 50-46. She called it an outlier.

Joe said there were hidden Trump voters in 2016 but he doesn't believe that anymore. Joe is delusional.

Jeremy Peters said people are reluctant to express opinions now to pollsters. He said that there are very few people that would lie to pollsters.

Joe said Kamala Harris will energize the African American community to vote for Biden.

Sharpton said that Clinton didn't visit black mega churches in Michigan & it cost her votes.

I love love love the fact that Errin Haines is now (if I heard correctly??) an MSNBC regular/contributor. I'm glad Joe and Mika were kind and welcoming to her, she's fucking amazing.

This USPS shit is fucking alarming. Every time I think things possibly can't get worse, something even more insane happens.

Whenever Willie goes on vacation, I always imagine that he rents one of those Sensory Deprivation Tanks, locks himself in there and just...floats.

Will said Trump is following European conservatives that are opposed to immigration.

Uhhh but isn't it in many ways the other way around? A lot of the rhetoric, bizarre contortionist logic and questionable xenophobia seen in Europe these days is, in my opinion (and that of many, many experts) directly inspired from the movements in the US, and/or from the sense that anything goes right now because the US ain't gonna help and won't interfere on the side of freedom anymore, like the old days. YMMV.

I think this is relevant-ish to this thread, but at the same time, if not, can I just self-indulge a little off-topic and say one of the newish MSNBC people who has impressed me most over the past few years is Kasie Fucking Hunt.

Even after she got her own show, she's been traveling all over the place,  contributing widely, even over-extending herself, ALWAYS calm, relaxed, drily funny, infallibly factual and fucking SMART. Every time it's been like, oh no, she's probably off because she just had a baby and it was a complicated delivery and maybe we'll have to wait..... --- oh no, WAIT, THERE SHE FUCKING IS. FUCKING QUEEN. What a fucking tireless, courageous goddess, I cannot even.

i was so happy to see her today, I loved her words, her dress, her presence, everything!! #kasiefangirl #sorrynotsorry

With the recent addition of Errin Hayes, Tiffany Goddamn Kickass Cross, and the general aura of freshness and openness I am so hopeful for the future of MSNBC...

The biggest change on Morning Joe is that Kasie is no longer introduced by Mika & Joe with a lighting bolt & ACDC rock music. 🙂

The person who did the hiring for the 2016 campaign correspondents did a really good job. Kasie Hunt, Jacob Soboroff, Katy Tur and Hallie Jackson all gained a national profile while doing work in the field that year.

Idk, whether she wants that shit or not is kinda up to her - but I do think she (like the others) at least deserves a friendly greeting and a  "good morning" for dragging their asses out at the crack of dawn.

I don't think Kasie liked being introduced with a thunderbolt. It's not professional.

Mika used to treat Savannah Guthrie in a similar fashion when she was the White House reporter for NBC.

Joe needs to darken his hair.  He has aged 15 years in the last three years.

Joe reviewed Fox News coverage of last night's convention.  What is his deal with constantly reviewing Fox News coverage.  I don't see the relevance to anything.

Why not show some clips from reporters on his own network?  There must be something from last night.  Joe seemingly has a hard on for Fox News.

Sean Hannity said that Joe Scarborough wanted to work for Fox News & host a show, but they refused to give him a job. I suspect this happened before Morning Joe was launched. If you watch shows of Scarborough Country from 2003, you would hardly recognize Joe. His political views were very different back then.

Joe doesn't get along with most of the MSNBC primetime lineup so he pretends they don't exist.

Mayor Lori Lighfoot was interviewed. She said that Eric Trump thanked her for defending Trump Tower in Chicago.

She said the rioting is minimal.

There are too many guns coming into Chicago from Indiana. She wants the Federal government to implement more background checks on gun owners.

Joe asked the Mayor is she had a message for looters. She supports peaceful protest but wants the looters to stop looting.

To point out that Trump's former allies are turning on him. Of course MSNBC would be positive re the DNC.

Joe and his idiot books.  Yeah what happened to the Trump book? Oh, yeah the publisher and his agent probably said "you are opening a can of worms by writing this book and going on a book tour because every show you go on, the host first question will be "do you bear any responsibility for having Trump on your show constantly, and normalizing his behavior?"

If the book doesn't come out til November, why start hawking it now? The day after a history making DNC convention evening, and these two nimrods can only promote themselves.

Joe was happy to interview Rick Wilson from the Lincoln Project. Joe defended Kasich for speaking last night at the convention.

Joe said he knows Republicans who will vote for Biden in November.

Why would Kasich need Joe to defend him for speaking at the convention?   I think Joe senses that if a Dem gets back in, the Lincoln Project members will be back on the train of tax cuts, eliminating entitlement projects, and anti-deficit.  Joe will be back in business (yeah, baby!) as Joe The Former Conservative Congressman from 3 or 4 states.

And Joe has a book coming out on Truman?  I now regret all the criticism for his absences...he was working on a momentous book!  Bob Woodward has one coming out in September; Meecham is probably working on a new one.  Joe has researched upcoming books written by famous people and has come to the conclusion that November will be the ideal time - Christmas gifts!  He can go on all the MSNBC shows to promote it.  The hosts will love having him.

It's hard work copying what other people wrote about Truman, changing the words slightly so it gets thru the plagiarism test, and then claiming you're an expert on WWII because Mom and Dad talked about it and you read a few books about it.

Joe didn't like the Trump campaign calling the Republican speakers at the DNC last night useful idiots.

Joe said that he worked with Kasich to balance the federal budget & give more power to the states.

Joe mocked Trump for giving money to Democrats like Anthony Weiner & Charlie Rangel who opposed Joe's balance budget policies.

Joe bragged that he knew former Congresswoman Susan Molinari who also helped Joe balance the budget.

Joe loves talking about his years in Congress!

Joe said that Trump abandoned Conservative values.

It won't be plagiarized, it will be too interspersed with personal anecdotes for that. Trust me, Joe will find some way to insert himself into events that happened before his birth!

It'll be like "then Eleanor said, is there anything I can do for *you*? Which, incidentally, was also what Bill Clinton said to me my first day in Congress, when he stopped by my office with a dozen red roses to thank me, in advance, for Saving America by balancing the budget". Bless his heart.

I don't think he's necessarily a terrible writer though, so who knows, it might be decent. Hopefully he's had good editors

Joe will likely try to promote the book by tying the current news back to President Truman. Chris Matthews used to do this with Bobby Kennedy after he wrote a biography of him.  Chris somehow related every story to Bobby so that Chris could show his knowledge and sell books.

I don't know what Joe could possibly say about Truman that we don't already know.
