boes April 30 Share April 30 (edited) Breaking news! Allison Lanier is out as Summer, her last day is this Friday, May 2nd. No info on why, though the article says Show has no immediate plans to recast. I hope against hope that Show isn't bringing back Hunter King. I know a lot of folks didn't care for Allison Lanier's Summer, but I vastly preferred her over that walking advertisment for decongestion meds and acting classes, Hunter King. Joimiaroxeu April 30 Share April 30 Yep on Allison Lanier. Apparently she announced it on her social media account. Soap Opera Network has an article about it here: Allison Lanier Announces Exit From ‘The Young And The Restless’ : and Soaps.com has an article about it here: Summertime Sadness: Young & Restless’ Allison Lanier Says Farewell Warning: the Soaps.com one ^^^ has a big spoiler. It's unfortunate but Summer seems to have been stuck in idle for a while now. 4 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8649547
Sake614 May 1 Share May 1 I don’t blame AL for leaving. summer hasn’t had a story in forever and AL is still young. I think she’s got talent and wish her the best in her career. 3 1 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8649701
lgprimes May 1 Share May 1 Ugh she’s one of the better actors on this show. That’s too bad 1 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8650864
Snaporaz May 2 Share May 2 HK used to bug me to no end, but then I saw her in one of those Hallmark Christmas movies (don't judge me, there were Corgis in it! 💞🐈). The movie was stupid, of course, but the Corgis were cute and HK was ok in it, not annoying at all. I think Summer is just a terrible character no matter who plays her, so I won't be missing her. 2 1 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8651020
Kemper May 2 Share May 2 I saw Hunter King in that Hallmark movie. too. She is maybe a decent actress. But I could not tolerate her as Summer; so I would not watch her in anything again, ever. I think she was getting a Big Hallmark Push as one of their Next Big Actresses. Kind of like Lacy Chabert, Danica McKellar, etc. The network lost many of their "premier" actresses, including Candace Cameron Bure to a rival network. I have no idea which one. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8651166
SweePea59 May 3 Share May 3 They're finally acknowledging that Stupor Girl is a totes pointless character. Remarkable. And now we know why Sally and Shewhotalkstoofast are going to work at their boyfriends' companies. 🤣 (And I think Audra is playing Sally.) 2 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8652446

Part of the reason is that Summer is still witten as a pouty, entitled, 15 year old brat. Now we'll probably be seeing more of Phyllis, yuk! What is she wearing? A speed-skating suit? 5 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8652711
Snaporaz May 4 Share May 4 I don't think I've ever once rooted for Summer. Even during The Peanut Butter Cookie Kiss, I was kinda pulling for Patty. 1 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8652973
surfgirl May 4 Share May 4 And what a shitty, unceremonious way to leave a ahow you've been on for years. 5 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8653053

I think it's possible she was going to be let go but TPTB gave her the face-saving option of making it look like it was her choice. I also read elsewhere that she'd been in contract renegotiations for a while and they weren't able to come to an agreement. Who knows? But in retrospect it's clear Summer started being backburnered not long after Claire arrived in GC after the mess in Oregon. And note how Phyllis wasn't really allowed to go at Claire on Summer's behalf. 3 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8654092
Joimiaroxeu May 6 Share May 6 Am watching Hunter King on The Neighborhood right now and she's not bad. The attempted backdoor pilot for a spinoff series is a non-starter though. Everyone is trying too hard to be funny. 4 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8654447
Sake614 May 13 Share May 13 Because the one thing missing from this ridiculous Dumas story was his assistant, they cast his assistant. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/yr-casting-exclusive-aristotle-dumass-assistant-hits-the-genoa-city-scene/ 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8660920

Well, we already have Amanda returning as his lawyer so no doubt his family is next. Then maybe in 3 years after we’re all too drunk to notice , they’ll get around to casting him. Maybe. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8660981
boes May 14 Share May 14 I wonder if the actor who will play Aristotle Dumas - if there even is an Aristotle Dumas - might be Spoiler Billy Flynn, from Days of Our Lives. He's out at that show and was hired by the Young and the Restless in a "new" role. He's a good actor IMO. 3 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3761-reel-to-real-backstage-twitter-all-media-dram-ugh/page/190/#findComment-8661366
