My sis heard Lisar give an interview on the radio.  She said she is playing a role on RHOBH and that she treats it as seriously as any other acting job.  She's pretty good, too, I think.

That may explain (at least in part) Lisa's daughters' dismissive attitudes and eye rolls.  I like Lisa, but I think she will come to regret this role - not as much as Eileen may, because Lisa doesn't have as far to fall.

Wonder how she'd describe that role.

I think that may be a real problem for both of them. A role you can defend and laugh off as not the real me but with this reality gig it could ruin your reputation.

Andy can all the stink eye he wants to the HWs but he needs to give it to himself 24/7 IMO. LOL I think they all exaggerate/amp up who/what they are in real life on the show, so I guess they ARE playing a "role" so to speak.

He needs to spin that stink eye to the back of his head and focus it on himself. Too bad the housewives can't vote him off the reunion shows.

I'd bet Eileen is on the show only because they needed the money - same reason she went back to work on the soaps. Makes me wonder if Vinnie inherited the family gambling gene - without the luck.

I'd take that bet with you. Odds are we'd win.

She's the only Jelena I've ever heard of - wonder if it's a Dutch name. A friend from Holland told me that Yolanda is a popular name there.

Jelena is a variant of Helena.  Someone probably already said this but I was afraid I'd forget before I finished reading through.

It is risky because it is way too easy to fall into the 'which makes you a bigger asshole?  Being the person the cameras show or just pretending to be that person for a buck?"  I think Kenya Moore on the Atlanta show is a big example of that in terms of those who view her negatively and have even stopped watching the show because they feel she switches from playing a role to then trying to be a real victim of the other women (not talking about the actual violence).  I get that 'reality' and 'real' are not the same thing.  But I also think that shows like this do dance with honest moments in a way that you would have to be much smarter than the likes of Lisa Rinna -- or most people including myself -- to be able to keep moments like what Kim Richards brought last season in its own compartment from  this so called role she thinks she is playing.

I don't know if it is so much she needs the money right now as it is that she knows how tenuous soap salaries can be in this day and age.  She has young kids.  She has a certain lifestyle.  Heck even if soapdom was still in its heyday she knows that actors come and go even beyond the aging factor.  There have been plenty of incredibly attractive and popular performers on soaps that inexplicably got the axe only to heard from again as bit players in Lifetime movies or Hallmarks Christmas movie massacre.    I think almost all them like the money.  No matter how much they have, a couple hundred thousand a year helps.  None of these people are RICH in the grand scheme of things.  To say they are richer than the average person ignores the fact that even known and attested Billionaires feel the need to have more.  And more.  Applying what any of us think is 'enough' could be short sighted since most of us likely don't know what it is to attain what they already have and so don't realize that it is just as likely to engender a sense of needing more to cushion what you have become accustomed to.  If you get a raise for the year do you throw up your hands and cheer and say 'good for me, I'm done, I can retire?'  I suspect that most of us when we get something can be very happy when we get it.  But it does not flip a switch and make us not think about continuing to achieve financially.

But considering Eileen and Vince's professions, both are tenuous no matter how much they might bring in, I would say she is definitely doing it for the money.  How that translates to her needs and any of our perceived needs is another story.

But a dailymail headline of the Pattons bankruptcy would not shock me any more than one that said Theresa Guidice is a filthy crook.  For that matter pretty any of them could publicly be outed as living beyond their means in an extreme way and i would not be shocked.  I don't get the whole 'fame' aspect of the matter so I know that while it can be a huge driving factor over anything else, I still find the allure of cold hard cash a logic that is inescapable to at least some degree.

The discussion has made me paranoid.  I'm in the woods all the time.  We ride horses.  Next time my horse swats it's tail at a horsefly and kills it, she will get an extra carrot.  But in all seriousness, the thought of having to check every inch of my body, my husband and kid, would make venturing into the outdoors something to reconsider.  I've never thought of doing it until the discussion here!

I've worried about it, especially in the spring, the most dangerous time because the ticks are small and hard to see.

I once had a woman pick a tick from my neck while standing in line in a rural country store...scared the crap out of me.

I had several acres up in the mountains and part was level grasses, which would grow above my head if I didn't weed whack them.  Eventually I wimped out and hired people, but when I did it I dressed head to toe in white (easier to pick off the ticks if you can see them) and socks out OVER my white pants, long sleeves, hair covered.  I probably looked ridiculous, but I had lots of deer up there, (one doe gave birth every year in my corn field...so cute.)  Anyway, I was bitten a few years ago, it's scary because you don't even KNOW, can't feel it.  I only knew from the rings that grew out from my arm.  Doctors really don't take it that seriously, at least mine didn't.

Apparently the longer the tick feeds, the more likely you are to have problems, and they can stay on for 3 days.  I also remember my mom (doing it wrong!) burning ticks off of all of us when we stayed in an adorable cabin in a different state when I was little.  Her dad died of a kind of similar problem, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, so when camping or in the woods she always diligently checked for ticks.

RHOA is still pulling 3.0 with or without the Kenya haters mainly because that show cast well and each season that show brings the drama. I bet if the other HWs casted well they'll be pulling more viewership too. People watch HWs and other reality shows for the pure entertainment factor and gulity pleasure of it. That's why I watch can't speak for everyone. I feel if one doesn't like watching the social experiment of reality tv then one shouldn't watch at all. But those who do like to watch trash let us continue.

I'm glad people have stopped with all the nicknames, it was getting frustrating having to stop and figure out who was being talked about.

I'm also glad that someone mentioned that Lisa Rinna often fake laughs, makes the motions but not the sounds.  I can't hear and I was trying to figure out how she managed to do that over the top laughing and not have anyone respond to it.  I remember one time she started slapping the wall laughing while no one else even cracked a smile.  I now assume she didn't make any noise, and any time she laughs like that I will assume from now on that she's not making a peep.
