I live 50 miles NE of Seattle and it snowed yesterday.  Really wet and thick and didn't stick.  Today I woke up to frost on the ground-maybe the snow will stick this time.

jewel, did u see the video of the multiple car crash due to snow and ice in montreal?  no one was injured but it was kinda funny to watch the cars/busses/police car/ sand truck with snow plow on it all pile into each other...

^^^^Nope just very frosty this morning.

SERPENTINE!!!!

Floved The In-Laws!  I haven't seen it in years...need to check if it's on Netflix.

Here in PA, we had our first snow the week of Thanksgiving.  A couple of days before and a couple of days later, the temperature went into the 70s!

I guess there were a whole bunch of semi truck pile ups on Snoqualmie Pass. It snows so seldom here that people really don't know how to drive in it. Plus, it's so hilly here.

But to be fair to the drivers, there's nothing you can do with ice and a downslope like that.

The slo mo of all the sliding was funny.

We also have a sad Charlie Brown Christmas tree. We = Montreal.

Speaking of sad, my brother's coworkers found a shivering, sick kitten outside their place of work. No one wanted to take it in and my brother took it home not realizing he would need to bottle feed it every two hours. As a result of him freaking out, I posted about the kitten on a foster and refuge site I'm part of and everyone jumped into action to get the cat and bring it to a rescuer. The cat is now being cared for, and is getting antibiotics for the eyes, had an injection and is on antivirals for two weeks. She's finally starting to eat a bit. She's also congested. It's a long road for her but I hope she will get better and one day be adopted. They named her Marguerite and you can see a post of her here:

What irks me is that when my brother couldn't figure out how to feed it, he brought it to my cousin who had tried to save five kittens in the past but they all died. I told her that it was just for a few hours while I got transport figured out to get her to a foster. Hours of messaging, posting, etc I finally got transport lined up and they didn't want to give up the cat. They wanted to keep her. I was livid. She needed experienced fosters and antibiotics and my aunt and cousin weren't going to bring her to a vet. Luckily, my uncle stepped in and I was able to pick up the cat and bring her back to my place where she was picked up 20 minutes later. And today, my cousin says she and my aunt want to adopt her. They would make a good home for her. Firstly, it's out of my hands. But also, this is a legit rescue site. They want to meet the potential adopters, see how they interact with the cat, check out their home, and if ever they feel the cat isn't being treated properly, they will take it back.

I just feel my aunt and cousin are being so selfish. I told them if they really want a cat, they can go to the SPCA and adopt a cat in need. But nope, they want this one. Grr.

I'm sorry Peaches.

I've been a mix of depressed and anxious for days. Things just seem to be getting worse. My grandfather isn't doing too well. He didn't get the greatest news at the doctor's office and he's a bit down. He has a lot of water in his legs and other places so they switched all his meds.

My boss has a fracture in his back and it's taking forever to heal and that makes me sad because he's an amazing man.

My grandmother is finally out of the hospital which is good. They got someone coming over a few times a week to check on her. The only problem is my grandmother doesn't speak English, only French and Polish and they can't find anyone who speaks either of those languages.

The kitty is doing better. Antibiotics are kicking in for her eyes but she has worms so more meds. She's finally starting to eat, though. However, they think she has ataxia, a neurological disorder that results in trembling and loss of coordination and balance. Nothing can be done for that but she should still be able to live a fairly okay life if she survives,

I'm worried one of my brothers is off his meds and will have another breakdown and have to be readmitted to a hospital again. This tends to happen around the holidays with him so this time of year always has me more nervous. But he's not looking good, lost weight which is not a good sign, and he's having rage issues again. I'm just so tired of him.

And Steve has been eating less the last few days. I hope he's not getting sick again.

On the plus side, he let me kiss him today. And earlier, at the bus stop, a squirrel walked right up to me and smelled my boot, lol. And then just stood by me. I felt like a Disney princess.

IA with valley, little jewel! You have such a gentle, loving, generous heart.

The holidays season can suck for so many reasons. I too have a brother with issues. He still causes us grief in his late 60s. Makes me glad that our parents aren't party to this anymore.

Prayers for your grandfather and boss. Keep us informed!

Poor Steve and kitty :(

Valley I live in Montreal and every time I see the video I can't stop laughing at the stupidity.  I mean it's not like we don't get snow and ice every year here this is nothing new and it should never have happened.  Oh well some things never change.

Aww that Steve let you kiss him. He has an adorable face. I hope he feels better soon. And your brother and boss and gramma.

2 friends are at standing rock right now it's ghastly. Insanely cold windy shelter in casino floor but trying to build big tent. If they do they maybe stuck inside or there for weeks after a big predicted storm comes. They are both artists - he's a somewhat popular comedian and she's a drum n bass dj so they have gigs. I'm worried about them when their phones unfreeze they post videos and it looks hellish. They both don't have ways home their cars were shitfucked by blizzard driftes/skidding into ditches.

Oh, jewel I'm so sorry you have so much sad on your plate. I'm glad to hear kitty is doing better, animals can do amazing things with disabilities that humans would consider catastrophic. I've seen enough three legged cats and blind dogs that have no shits to give.

Hope grandpa's new meds work out. Aren't you in Canada? One would think there would be French speaking folks aplenty around there, but maybe that's just Quebec?

Christmas can certainly bring out a whole lot of neuroses. My son's girlfriend has some emotional issues and just broke up with him because she doesn't feel like she deserves to be loved. This has happened before. Part of me hopes that this is it and another part of me hopes they get back together like they have before. She may have issues, but she also makes him very happy.

I totally agree with this.  The squirrel is one of your spirit guides.

Thanks so much for the kind words everyone. <3

I'm also surprised that they couldn't find a social worker/nurse/caregiver? that spoke French or Polish. Although none of my cousin's can speak a lick of French. I always found that strange because I thought French was taught in all schools across Canada? In any case, my cousins could never really communicate much with my grandmother. I used to have to translate a lot.

From what my Canadian friends tell me, it's treated much the same was as Americans treat High School Spanish. For the citizenship test that I looked up for no reason at all after the site came back up on Election Night, you're required to know enough French to ask basic directions and such, which I imagine is the fluency level of most non Quebec Canadians.

Take care, Jewel! You are dealing with so much. But in Kitchener-Waterloo, nobody can find someone with a Slavic background?

It's not quite the same as Spanish in the US. Although I think this may vary from province to province, where French is concerned, it's still mandated as our second language. In Toronto, kids start French in grade one, and it's required all the way through high school. It's not that most of us speak it particularly well, but we're used to it from seeing it on packaging and hearing it intermittently. Citizenship stuff is a different animal from the education system.

Thanks, Pearlite. It's weird, there's supposed to be quite a few Polish people in Kitchener. I don't know they can't find anyone.

On another note, she's slowly getting better and her eyes are now wide open.

(((Peaches)))

I know ... It's the loss of another voice that has always been in your life.

I've been sobbing the whole time while mixing another Greg Lake retrospective. I had already programmed one for Keith Emerson in March and that left me gutted. My engineer packed in boxes of Kleenex for this session.

Thanks! It was a hectic day I had worked like 18 hrs and squeezed in our photos in a break before another 10 and started that cold. He had fun.

this sounds dumb or weird but @boes I think of you and a few others here once in a while like "oh wish them well."  or "_____ is so cool hope they're having a kickass day." Also often when I'm stressed or very tired or overwhelmed a joke you've made, sometimes an OLD one like your Maggie & hairspray quip or a Devon one, crosses my mind and it totally helps.
