The thing I was talking about was Mike Tomlin benching a winning QB for an old QB that can't move as much anymore.  People have been irate at the fact that Coach T can wreck the franchise and face no consequences, whereas everyone else gets nailed for less.  Or for nothing in this case.  First time a QB with a winning record gets pulled for no reason, and he's not even hurt

The climate in Pittsburgh is rather cold.  The fans are upset that Mike got another contract extension following a period where he should've been let go.  In that period, they've finished in a spot that didn't exist 5 years ago for the postseason.  Lack of success and no standards anymore.  Shows that the owner is actually lazier than Jerry Jones.

LOL - that is most definitely NOT what I was talking about.

On another topic, I am amused at the very strong feelings some have expressed on social media about the Packers' unis today - the all white with the white helmets.  There's a small but very vocal contingent that seems to believe going to white helmets is the equivalent of spitting on the logo at mid-field.  As alternate uniforms go, I've seen a lot worse.

Fate took care of the Browns problem for them.

It really didn't. The problem is they still owe him the money and they still take the cap hit.

Meanwhile, Pat Mahomes has put up pedestrian numbers, his receiving corps is decimated and they're sitting at 6-0. I don't see an imminent threat to them in the AFC right now.

Neither do I.  We'll see with Houston & Buffalo, but the former probably has to find a way to get over them in the standings.  Losing to Green Bay is not the way to get there, period.  If Cincinnati can turn back the clock (to this decade of course), then that could be a problem for the champions.

To be fair, San Francisco had their problems & have their problems, but this was the easiest bet to make (Niners were favored).  Well, not as easy as Minnesota or so I thought.

On a financial level, Cleveland is in trouble for awhile.  On the field, this was necessary.  What's next might not be the answer, but at least Chubb is back.  We'll see what that means going forward.  Plus, Watson going down possibly saves Stefanski, which may have its pros and cons (good thing or bad thing)

Say what you will about Watson, but there is this thing called Karma, and that's directed to Cleveland football team.  While I've "made fun" of the fans at least they care.  The organization?  Nope.  It's all about the money or whatever else.  Money is great, but I'd think doing the correct thing adds more.  OTOH, doing stuff that softens the division is not cool.  I'd love it if Minnesota and Cleveland swapped places within the league structure

Everyone wins?

The one game in which he seems to be playing well, at least according to stats.

The stats lie. He did complete a bunch of passes, 15 of 17, but for only 128 yards; for a whopping 8.5 yards a catch.

Browns' fans in attendance booed him as he was carted off the field in an extremely tacky gesture, but I cannot be upset that it looks like his playing days in Cleveland are probably over.

They re-did his contract this year to include an injury clause, due his history and to include productivity clauses.  I'm guessing - as I haven't heard full details - that they only pay him a certain number, not the full $241M.

Still, we're f*d, but at least we're not the Patriots.  We got a decent, proven coach unlike Vegas & Carolina & Giants.  We have a premiere Center & DE, tho Bitantonio's injured this year, and hopefully still one of the best running backs in Chubb.

I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the outcome.  Not something I would have said early on.  Mike Tomlin took a chance, big time.  Sorta went rogue so to speak.  The thing is he made a decision and owned up to it in advance.

That means his haters cannot credit someone else here.  Well, they can, but no sane person is going to admire them or respect them for crediting the coach for a crazy decision that worked out.  Of course, that's as it relates to the game against the Jets.  In time we'll see; speaking of the Jets...

...I'd maybe blame the owner?  I mean, the best part of the team in terms of one of three phases of the sport was let go.  Whoa!  There are worse head coaches in the league.  Sure I get it, but maybe next time, have a better Plan B.  That way, you're not giving up a near 40-burger to a team that isn't great at scoring in the first place.

But if you aren’t a Chargers or Cardinals fan, why would you go to ESPN+ if there is another game on TV?

That's the biggest problem.   The first game is Ravens v. Tampa Bay.   Who is going to switch from that game to watch Chargers v. Cardinals?   If you put the more interesting game on ESPN+ then people would watch.   But put a game that people weren't interested in to begin with on streaming only and watch the ratings crater.

I know I’m going to sound like a big whiny baby, but I don’t care - I don’t wanna watch the NFL on Netflix.  *stamps foot*

That's how we feel about watching NFL on Amazon Prime.  I don't like the idea of spreading these games out on so many different services.  It's getting difficult to find them!  Stamps foot in unison with mojoween.

There was nothing you could do.  Lamar vs the NFC is death for the latter.  Really if you ask me, there would be no sense playing a game in February if Baltimore wins the AFC.  There's enough activity on February 9th to fill up that evening.

How about they find a way to beat the Chiefs in the Playoffs first before we even think about that scenario? Lamar Jackson hasn't gotten the Ravens to a Super Bowl yet.

As for Chris Godwin, that leg injury looks terrible & might be a season-ender. That really sucks for him.

BTW, Cardinals 17 - Chargers 15 decided by a Cardinals game Winning Field Goal at the end. Meh. Also, the Chargers suck as usual in close games, so Jim Harbaugh better get use to that when it comes to these losers.

I probably should've highlighted "if" in my previous post.  For what it's worth, the Ravens might not even have to worry about the champions especially if that team that wrecked what would've been 5 Super Bowl appearances in as many years gets in as a low seed.  One that can disrupt things for the high seed.

Still, you're right about that.  Gotta get by Kansas City.  Though it really doesn't matter for the most part as KC wins there which helps the AFC catch up to the NFC.  At least it appears that we don't have to worry about San Francisco representing that conference this time around.

Things just went from hero to zero.  No way did I go with Tampa for the win, but I didn't expect things to crumble like this.  From what looked like a journey to a successful defense now could turn ugly.  Feel bad for Baker & even Coach Todd.  No way should it end that way.

Speaking of endings, the Chargers chose to end things that way.  Sure taking points is okay, but you needed to get into the endzone with that much time and timeouts Arizona had.  Not sure it would've mattered anyway

The entire reason they lost is because they couldn’t get into the end zone at all, so it was a fitting ending. The defense could have stopped them and the Chargers would have escaped with a win, but if you’re that inefficient in the red zone you deserve to lose. Herbert seems to be missing all his favorite targets he had last season. I don’t even recognize most of the offense now- couldn’t they have signed a big time WR in the offseason?

I'm a Steelers fan, and I like Mike Tomlin, but he's kinda smelling himself now with the comment "That's why I'm well compensated" because he switched to Wilson.  Sure, Wilson showed up on Sunday, but we'll see how he does in the future.

I bleed black and gold and like Tomlin but even I was questioning his decision to start Wilson.  It worked out and the deep ball threat will help our run game but I hope if Wilson starts losing Tomlin will switch back to Fields.

I have multiple streaming services so I've been able to watch streaming games but I know there are people who do not have some or any streaming services and are missing out.  I think a TV station in the local markets of the teams who's games are streamed should be able to air those games in real time.

The NFL is sending teams to Europe (and now South America) multiple times a year to get new fans and meanwhile they are preventing fans here at home from seeing some games.

It would be nice if NFL Sunday Ticket came up with a package for fans who might have just one particular team they want to see play each week (or a few teams.) We used to be able to negotiate the price of NFL Sunday Ticket, but not anymore!  We refuse to pay what they're asking.

At least there is the NFL Red Zone, so for the Buc's games we can't see, we watch that and get snippets of the game.  We're in an area that rarely airs the Buc's games.  It's usually the Falcons or the Saints.  Oh well, we still love watching the NFL, so we can catch most other games through Hulu and Prime.

If there was ever an example validating the fact that the content on Wikipedia comes from ordinary human civilians as opposed to official people based on where you're at on Wikipedia, you can find it within the NFL section.  Mainly the standing as it relates to "If the playoffs started now".

On a separate note (for the most part), as mentioned I don't have a big problem with all the streaming stuff.  I'd prefer it was complimentary & not all over the place, but it's a business.  Plus, I already have those apps to begin with.  Fortunately there's another reason (non NFL) for it.  Otherwise, I might be livid too, or just give up on the sport

The NFL must be making a killing on merchandise by changing the teams' uniform colors!  I don't like the Cardinal's black helmets, or Green Bay's white helmets.  That's just not right!  😜.    Oh well.  We got used to going from creamsicle to pewter & burgundy (which we love), so I'll get used to the newer styles.  There are some teams where they changed the style of the letters & numbers.  Some of those are just plain wonky!

Apparently Tua is attempting to return to the lineup this weekend (he has to clear the NFL protocols first) and is not thinking of retiring nor will he wear a protective helmet: Link.

At this point, whatever happens going forward is all on him. It's not fault of the next player who hits him and causes another concussion. This is all Tua's responsibility.
