Deebo Samuel had two things that always drive down the value of the compensation a team trading a player can get back:

1) He publicly requested the trade

2) He's in the final year of his contract

While there's no word on whether Fox will fill the void Jimmy Johnson leaves when the network starts its 32nd season in the sports world, one can't really do so.  Literally they can but figuratively they can't. 

Jimmy was pretty much their TV Dad for most of those 31 years (25 to be exact).  Definitely the one that put the team together.

As hilarious as it would be if he told teams that he'll bring Rodgers with him, I hope he stops basing his career decisions on QBs he knows. A lot of contending teams who are set at QB could use Adams.

The Giants are looking to get a veteran QB to mentor whoever they pick in the draft.  So they are interested in signing Aaron Rodgers.

Those two sentences … do not fit.

I know Cam Ward was basically a child when Jordan Love was drafted, but I’m sure he’s heard the lore.  The Giants doing that to any young guy, knowing how NOT capable Rodgers is in mentoring anyone, would just continue the year of misery that started on “Hard Knocks”.

My team is going through it's own QB hell because our star QB didn't want to prepare any young QB to take over when he retired.  And I don't think Rodgers is capable of caring about let alone mentoring anyone.

It's kind of an interesting situation. He and the Packers couldn't agree on a new contract, and he really wanted to reunite with Derek Carr, who was his QB in college, so the Packers traded Adams to the Raiders, who then gave him a hefty contract. The Raiders thought they could contend in the AFC West. But it became clear the team was going nowhere and Adams didn't fit into the timeline to become a contender again, and Rodgers was over at the Jets wanting his buddy there, so it made sense for the Raiders to go ahead and get out of the contract during a sellers' market and get a draft pick and save a lot of money.

Likewise, it made sense for financial reasons for the Jets to cut Adams, after they tried trading him. He doesn't fit their timeline now either.

If I were a contending team in need of a WR, I wouldn't hesitate to add Adams. He's fine so long as he's on a team playing well. Yeah, he wanted to get paid back when, but so does any player. It would not surprise me if he ended up back with the Packers, who will certainly be one of the teams trying to sign him this offseason...which says a lot, because it indicates that they don't view him as some sort of malcontent. There's no bridges burnt there.

The Bengals could've won it all this year, but their defense let them down.  There were some okay folks on it & they have a new DC.  However, losing one of them in the off-season is the opposite way to go at they try not to suck defensively.

Mark Davis has done very well out of the Vegas deal. Since the move in 2020, the Raiders are second only to the Cowboys in revenue generated, and the team's valuation has more than tripled.

Both of Raiders & Cowboys have something in common. They both suck, their "brand" suck, both of those owners suck & are very unlikable, they both have long Conference Championship Game droughts (Raiders 22 yrs, most certainly will be 23 yrs next season)(Cowboys 29 yrs, will definitely be 30 yrs next season), & both of them care way more about making money, being on TV, & being talked about than winning football games. Also, they both live in past glory & have a generation of fans that hasn't seen them win the Big Game, much less be in the Big Game.

Since Tom Brady is now part of the Raiders, now I really want to see the Raiders lose games & give Tom Brady a constant taste of failure being associated with these fools. I want Tom Brady to have large doses of what Jerry Jones & his loser brother Stephen Jones have to go through for the last 29 yrs & counting.

Brady bought in at the franchise's nadir. That didn't bother him, so I don't see him selling quickly. He does know how a winning operation is run, and he has Mark Davis's ear more than the typical minority owner would have the ear of the typical majority owner. I think he can temper Davis's worse impulses; Davis doesn't have the same need Jerry Jones does to be designated The One who got the franchise to win, and he doesn't try to play GM.

It's a tough division for sure, and the Raiders are not going anywhere until and unless they find their QB. But that's the dilemma every NFL team faces from time to time, some franchises much more frequently than others!

Marc Davis is smart enough to realize he might not know enough about running a team to turn it into a winner.   Which is miles ahead of Jerry Jones.   I can see him bringing in someone who does know something.   Davis also had success with his WNBA team - the Vegas Aces, so he is not a complete idiot.   

Remember, when Tom Brady became QB of the Patriots they sucked.   We forget how bad they were because of the almost two decades of dominance.   So Tom knows what goes into building a winning franchise.   Now whether he can actually accomplish that is a whole other matter.   Knowing and doing are two different things.

Great player = great owner, or GM (either official or unofficial) is one heck of a leap.  Look at the NBA - Jordan and Magic are the two greatest guards ever, but when it comes to running a team they were both atrocious.  Jerry West was the exception, not the rule.

As for the NFL, we've had a steady stream of great players retire over the years.  How many have been good at team building and management?

Other than John Elway and John Lynch, there aren't really that many people that have done well as both a player and a guy that can put together a team

I guess the jury is still out on Brady. It's only been a couple years. Let's see what the Raiders look like in a few years. There's a shit ton of work to do to make that team competitive.
