bluegirl147 January 12 Share January 12 (edited) One issue the Steelers have to deal with and soon is QB. I think they should keep Fields. He has said he wants to stay. Wilson has what? One two years left? And this QB draft class is light. I also think they get rid of Pickens. They have a history of cutting ties with problematic talented WRs. If Arthur Smith doesn't get a head coaching job I think he stays. His run first offense would work better with a more mobile QB. So another reason to keep Fields. merylinkid January 12 Share January 12 1 hour ago, Carey said: I agree about that. I wouldn't bet that Rooney or Mara are exiting I'm just saying that nothing's 100& (or 0%). Just like the weather. I never thought the Bowlen Family was going to exit the Denver Broncos (with ease). Dan Snyder? Ditto, but I had optimism that I'd be proven wrong. I'm still not sure what you are saying. Sponsors aren't bailing on the Steelers, because still a winning team and one of the top names in the sports. Win or lose, they get eyeballs on their games (Just like Dallas). Snyder was forced to sell because of all the sexual harassment claims, the NFL told him sell or we will force a sale. The Bowlens didn't decide to sell the Broncos. Pat Bowlen died and he had put trustees in charge of the team rather than handing it over to one of his kids. The trustees then set the terms for one of the kids to take over. One actually QUALIFIED under the terms. So the trustees decided to sell instead. None of the above applies to the Rooneys. The chances of them selling or being forced to sell are minimal. Heck the League keeps changing the rules on how much percentage a managing owner actually has to own of the team just for the Rooneys. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/581/#findComment-8552694
Carey January 12 Share January 12 Fair enough merylinkid. No joke, in terms of everything you posted, you're not wrong. For instance, I'd be surprised (and saddened) if the Rooneys had the type of climate Washington had before Josh Harris took over. However, I'm not completely sold on the eyeballs thing as it relates to the Steelers. I can't remember if it was here or TWOP but someone mentioned to me that a regular season, autumn NBA game beat a Steelers NBC Sunday Night Football game (in terms of ratings). Dallas definitely & always results in a big TV audience. Pittsburgh is a big deal because you have fans worldwide (especially those Steelers bars on the East part of the planet). They tend to travel to wherever the game is to the point where they'd make a road game turn into a home game. Other than that (my in the moment personal speculation), I still do wonder why I keep seeing people talk about organizational changes & firing Tomlin. I think a change wouldn't be a bad thing, but I don't understand why people waste their time blaming Tomlin & talking about moving on from him. Unless they have the money to buy out his contract (which most don't nor would Art Rooney take it). The fact is the lack of adjustments will result in the same scenario annually. It's too bad but the point here is the Steelers are not going to win a playoff game & the product will be stale as long as the most powerful people are in their current roles. Until proven otherwise, and that only happens if people like Art, Mike, and even Omar pivot to the rest of the league. Though I think they've made trends toward that this season, but not completely Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/3173-nfl-thread/page/581/#findComment-8552700
Carey January 12 Share January 12 Just as the media joked about the Bills resting people for a second week, they're now officially rolling over the Broncos. I guess they read Social Media at some point during the half. I was concerned, but it looks Buffalo we'll get that rematch against the Chiefs in 2 weeks. The Ravens scoring the way they did was expected, but Baltimore's defense wasn't that great early on. So I was wondering how Buffalo did close to nothing offensively. As mentioned, the Bills can't beat Kansas City in the biggest of games, but at least they've actually beaten them. Baltimore struggles to ever beat them outright, period. I'm with you, twoods. I hope it's a close game but it'll probably end up being a FG win or a failed Houston attempt at a FG. It's more beneficial for the Vikings that the other wild card teams win their games.
