One issue the Steelers have to deal with and soon is QB.  I think they should keep Fields.  He has said he wants to stay. Wilson has what?  One two years left?  And this QB draft class is light. I also think they get rid of Pickens.  They have a history of cutting ties with problematic talented WRs.  If Arthur Smith doesn't get a head coaching job I think he stays.  His run first offense would work better with a more mobile QB.  So another reason to keep Fields.

I agree about that.  I wouldn't bet that Rooney or Mara are exiting I'm just saying that nothing's 100& (or 0%).  Just like the weather. I never thought the Bowlen Family was going to exit the Denver Broncos (with ease).  Dan Snyder? Ditto, but I had optimism that I'd be proven wrong.

I'm still not sure what you are saying.  Sponsors aren't bailing on the Steelers, because still a winning team and one of the top names in the sports.   Win or lose, they get eyeballs on their games (Just like Dallas).

Snyder was forced to sell because of all the sexual harassment claims, the NFL told him sell or we will force a sale.

The Bowlens didn't  decide to sell the Broncos.  Pat Bowlen died and he had put trustees in charge of the team rather than handing it over to one of his kids.  The trustees then set the terms for one of the kids to take over.  One actually QUALIFIED under the terms.  So the trustees decided to sell instead.

None of the above applies to the Rooneys.   The chances of them selling or being forced to sell are minimal.   Heck the League keeps changing the rules on how much percentage a managing owner actually has to own of the team just for the Rooneys.

Fair enough merylinkid.  No joke, in terms of everything you posted, you're not wrong.  For instance, I'd be surprised (and saddened) if the Rooneys had the type of climate Washington had before Josh Harris took over.

However, I'm not completely sold on the eyeballs thing as it relates to the Steelers.  I can't remember if it was here or TWOP but someone mentioned to me that a regular season, autumn NBA game beat a Steelers NBC Sunday Night Football game (in terms of ratings).

Dallas definitely & always results in a big TV audience.  Pittsburgh is a big deal because you have fans worldwide (especially those Steelers bars on the East part of the planet).  They tend to travel to wherever the game is to the point where they'd make a road game turn into a home game.

Other than that (my in the moment personal speculation), I still do wonder why I keep seeing people talk about organizational changes & firing Tomlin.  I think a change wouldn't be a bad thing, but I don't understand why people waste their time blaming Tomlin & talking about moving on from him.  Unless they have the money to buy out his contract (which most don't nor would Art Rooney take it).  The fact is the lack of adjustments will result in the same scenario annually.  It's too bad but the point here is the Steelers are not going to win a playoff game & the product will be stale as long as the most powerful people are in their current roles.

Until proven otherwise, and that only happens if people like Art, Mike, and even Omar pivot to the rest of the league.  Though I think they've made trends toward that this season, but not completely

Just as the media joked about the Bills resting people for a second week, they're now officially rolling over the Broncos.  I guess they read Social Media at some point during the half.

I was concerned, but it looks Buffalo we'll get that rematch against the Chiefs in 2 weeks.  Granted that Houston hasn't found something to where they could pull the upset next Saturday (01/18/25)

The Bills are the only team to already have beaten the Chiefs (with their starters I mean). I'm more nervous about the Ravens.

The Bills have already beaten the Chiefs in the regular season and then lost in the playoffs, so I never rely on regular season wins. The Bills got destroyed by the Ravens this season, so hope they learn from that game and have a better outcome.

I hope the Texans make it a competitive game next week. I’m sure it will end on the usual Chiefs FG for the win, but no blowout please.

That was an odd game, BTW.  The Ravens scoring the way they did was expected, but Baltimore's defense wasn't that great early on.  So I was wondering how Buffalo did close to nothing offensively.

As mentioned, the Bills can't beat Kansas City in the biggest of games, but at least they've actually beaten them.  Baltimore struggles to ever beat them outright, period.

I'm with you, twoods.  I hope it's a close game but it'll probably end up being a FG win or a failed Houston attempt at a FG.  Which I guess might be better than losing by 28 in a game where you're up by 28.

I guess I'll share some good news

I saw the above earlier in the week, but it's from the usual BS site. In BS, I mean it's not super credible.  Not necessarily fake either.  But when Dan Patrick makes mention about Tom Brady's future plans, I'm more likely to at least listen to someone that has at least an OK track record

Good then Greg Olson can come back to the A team where he belongs.

I'm watching the Packers/Eagles game. Much as I hate to, I am cheering for the Packers. It's more beneficial for the Vikings that the other wild card teams win their games.

I feel like the Vikings are jinxed because in the regular season, they lost to Detroit and the Rams in the same week. Now they lost to Lions last week and the next game is the Rams again.

Anyhow this is a suspenseful game with both teams in it. Either can win.

Brady also called the Eagles the Phillies.  And it's not the first time he's done that this year.

He might be the announcer who said George Jefferson instead of Justin Jefferson.

Exfuckingactly.  It’s his FIRST YEAR.  He should not have been shoved into the lead booth without getting his feet wet on an C or D team.  And did no one at FOX ever hear the tone of his voice before?

That twanging rubber band is vibrating in my ears.

Speaking of people calling the game, and since I posted something that included Jerry Jones in the content:

I actually think the one person that also doesn't bother me too much is Erin Andrews.  While it still sucks that Pam Oliver got booted for EA, I can't say it was a bogus P.R. move.  Despite whatever, Erin is actually established.  Having seen her work in a decent role for the past 2 decades to quarter century, she actually is pretty good.  As mentioned, she sorta BS's but several people (like Charissa) do.

Having said that: I don't know how I should feel that today's Erin Andrews is older than the Jerry Jones I saw early in 1989 when he became the new face of the Dallas Cowboys

Charissa admitted to being an out-and-out fraud.  Frosts my buttons that she didn’t get shitcanned.  It’s hard enough fighting the stereotype that women reporters are just eye candy, not real sports journalists, and fed their lines by producers without one actually getting rewarded for atrocious behavior.

Out of all the A teams announcers the former football player who bothers me the least is Troy Aikman.

You’re exactly right.  (TM Tony Romo.)  Joe Buck used to annoy me greatly, but since I realized he doesn’t take himself all that seriously, and Troy Aikman doesn’t come across as a blatant Jerruh homer like the aforementioned TR, I don’t mind them at all.

FWIW, TR was another rookie announcer who went straight to the number one team, but that was after fans had been clamoring for years that Phil Simms needed to be replaced.  Nobody was itching to dump Greg Olsen.  Problem is TR initially got rave reviews and now he believes he’s invincible.  But he’s just u watchable.

Brady isn't the first person to get the same break. Remember Jason Whitten on Monday Night Football?

That's accurate, but a tough call IMO.  Jon Gruden (who I actually admired during his ESPN days) got the same deal.  Of course, TK bolted on his own.  Looks like ESPN got it right for now for the first time in a long time after the Tirico/Gruden Era.  I don't really put ESPN on the same level as CBS, FOX, and NBC from back in the day until 1997

And how is Joy Taylor still on air.   That's one of the few shows I can't watch because she's so terrible.

It's opposite NFL Live, Around the Horn, and PTI.  Basically it's not only on a time no one would watch it, but they have a valid reason not to watch SPEAK.

It might be mean to say she's terrible, but when Acho and Shady of all people run away from you, then the meanness is really accurate

I remember when that happened and people just shrugged their shoulders like it was no big deal.   I read Lisa Guerrero's book a couple years ago and the shit she went through while on MNF was unreal.  And she was good at her job. And 20 years later it's no big deal that a female sports reporter is making up quotes.  I don't think this is meant to be progress.

Well if Vikings win tomorrow they'll play either Lions or Eagles next weekend. I don't know which would be more advantageous  for Vikings to play.

I think it depends on the weather.  I'd say Philadelphia; this isn't 2017.  Minnesota has a better defense & are much better offensively.  That Eagles team is very talented, which may be great news for Kansas City* if things play out the way I expect.  If the weather sucks, you might be better off against Detroit.  Problem is they're rested this time & are getting people back as the postseason goes by.

Eagles won. *yawn*

This game was boring.  I blame Tom Brady.

Yet it was the best game of the 4 that were played to this point.

* Kansas City IMO is a better matchup.  I don't think they've seen an offense like Detroit's.  Which might not matter, however, especially given the fuel the Chiefs will receive for all the mentions about 0-2 vs Goff
