So is Alex Kingston volleying to get a role as the original Canary? Because there is nothing in the TV canon that supports her claim that she was the original Canary.

Just Earth-2 it. But it still pisses me off they didn't go that route with her, such an easy way to have had the JSA as part of the Arrowverse and ground it.

Actually watching it though, she just means that Dinah Drake was the OG, nothing more.

And how funny that both people they cast for the Lance parents are British. Don't know why it just hit me.

Well if Laurel IS the one in the grave, now would be the time to stir the Lauriver pot, and get everyone worked up thinking they were going to bring Lauriver back, and then *bam* it's dead. It's the kind of trolling thing I can see them doing. Not saying that's what SA's doing, just saying it made me think of the what ifs.

But it would be immensely cruel to the Lauriver fans. :( Ouch.

What's laughable is the *idea* that L/O still viable, on the heels of an episode when Laurel finds out Oliver impregnated her friend when he was cheating on her.

"Hey Oliver, your fiancée that dumped you just for lying and not talking to her when you make life altering decisions? She's way too judgemental. Come back to me and I'll never hold you accountable for lying, cheating, and leaving me out of the loop, just like I kept taking you back in the old days."

That would really jive with how I keep being told that strong, independent, doesn't-need-no-man Laurel is the *only* one that stands up to Oliver and doesn't take his shit.

I'm surprised at all the tweets at #Arrow that are anti-Felicity.  I guess I should have expected it but it still seems strange.

I'm not surprised at all. I knew it would happen the second they had her break up with him right after his big heartbroken William speech. It was clearly intended to make Oliver appear like such a poor soul and whether they intended it or not, it did make Felicity seem like she was kicking him while he was down. I still think she had every right to call him out on his bullshit, but having her do it right then was stupid and robbed her of garnering the audience's sympathy. It pissed me off but then again, this show has pretty much crapped all over Felicity this season.

Definitely quitting Collider these idiots just completely turned me off tonight. You don't have to have the same views as I do but to come off saying Felicity has Stockholm Syndrome (she only loved Oliver for his fighting skills and for the adrenaline rush of it all and when Oliver did the Salmon Ladder she was only in love with his body) or that she doesn't LOVE Oliver as much as Laurel ( because she won't accept his shit. They honestly said Laurel's love for him ran deeper because she's been pining for him for 10 years and was hurt because Samantha had his kid (probably she was thinking it should have been her who had Oliver's kid).  Really show really?

Not surprised at all. They were always gonna throw her under the bus. Look at evil Felicity for daring not to be a doormat and not accepting Oliver's promise to the mother of his child that he slept with that one time. How DARE she!

Predictable audience is predictable.

Shame on the writers for doing this though. I think I hate them more for that than anything. Felicity literally did nothing wrong and she's getting shit on. SMH.

Not only did they frame it as though Oliver had no other choice but to lie, they had other characters support his idiotic decision. Felicity was set up to be the unreasonable, irrational woman.

  • Love 11

It's a neat trick, really. That Oliver the liar gets all the sympathy, and Felicity, the only other person besides William that was completely innocent and victimized by the lie, is made into the bad guy. Bravo, Keto Shimizu, Brian Ford Sullivan, and MG. You guys have a future as political spin doctors if screenwriting ever bores you.

  • Love 14

Some people just don't like Felicity-Just ignore them. Felicity wasn't shown as irrational. Making Oliver's lie more BM's decision wasn't about throwing Felicity under a bus. It was trying to prop up Oliver and nothing more. Oliver was still keeping her out of decisions that were important to him.Felicity wants and deserves a true partner and Oliver just doesn't know how to be that yet.

  • Love 11

It's really a shame so many people are saying she was in the wrong. I'm sure each and everyone of them would stay with someone who constantly lies to them (sarcasm). I think the majority are the comic geeks who want to see Oliver and Laurel together. Again, the idiots at Collider think the show is writing it so Oliver and Laurel can get back together. The one who works for DC Access is still on the Felicity is a hallucination in the limo and is actually in the grave. Laurel will console Oliver over Felicity's death and they find their way back to each other. Again Felicity has to DIE in order for Oliver to want Laurel again. SMH at the mental state of some of the folks who watch Arrow. It's actually downright frightening!

This. If people want to see it that way, let them. What was actually on screen was a collected Felicity who helped get the kid back and was super polite to his mother, and then after he was safe and away and she was not consulted on that decision either, she decided she has had enough.

  • Love 13

I agree.I think they were very careful not to make Felicity look bad all episode.Maybe too careful imo because she could have been given more time to react and show more anger but I do think she was given a POV and it was a valid one and made a lot of sense.Imo this episode kinda seemed like they were freaked out by the negative response to the storyline.I think they were afraid to go full drama with it like they did with the crossover and were just focusing on not making Oliver look terrible or unforgivable or not making Felicity look like she overreacted.Idk if they really adjusted it because of all the hate but I was for sure expecting more drama for all the build up and compared to the crossover.

There was an interesting conversation on TWITTER between Stephen AMELL and Jenny RAFTERY. JR asked him:

"I just accidentally typed that Oliver has a "secret song," instead of son, and I am now hopelessly distracted by what that song would be."

And he answered her:

"This is just a guess, but it's probably The Professor by Damien Rice."

(see https://twitter.com/amellywood/status/702860889683169280)

Here are the lyrics of the song SA mentioned:

Well I don't know if I'm wrong
Cause she's only just gone
Here's to another relationship
Bombed by excellent breed of gamete disease
I'm sure when I'm older I'll know what that means
Cried when she should and she laughed when she could
Here's to the man with his face in the mud
And an overcast play just taken away
From the lover's in love at the centre of stage yeah
Loving is fine if you have plenty of time
For walking on stilts at the edge of your mind
Loving is good if your dick's made of wood
And the dick left inside only half understood her
What makes her come and what makes her stay?
What make the animal run, run away yeah
What makes him stall, what makes him stand
And what shakes the elephant now
And what makes a man?
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
No I don't know you any more
No, no, no, no...
I don't know if I'm wrong
'Cause shes only just gone
Why the fuck is this day taking so long
I was a lover of time and once she was mine
I was a lover indeed, I was covered in weed
Cried when she should and she laughed when she could
Well closer to god is the one who's in love
And I walk away cause I can
Too many options may kill a man
Loving is fine if it's not in your mind
But I've fucked it up now, too many times
Loving is good if it's not understood
Yeah, but I'm the professor
And feel that I should know
What makes her come and what makes her stay?
What make the animal run, run away and
What makes him tick apart from him prick
And the lonelier side of the jealousy stick
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
No I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
No I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
Hell I don't know you any more
No, no, no no...
Well I don't know if I'm wrong
'Cause she's only just gone
Here's to another relationship
Bombed by my excellent breed of gamete disease
I finished it off with some French wine and cheese
La fille danse
Quand elle joue avec moi
Et je pense que je l'aime des fois
Le silence, n'ose pas dis-donc
Quand on est ensemble
Mettre les mots
Sur la petite dodo

(see: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/damienrice/theprofessor.html)

The French part of the song might mean something like:

"The girl dances
When she plays with me
And sometimes I think I love her
The silence dares not,
When we are together,
Put the words
On our nights together."

(see: http://www.eskimofriends.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13008)

Does anybody have any thoughts on why SA chose this song for Oliver? Well, of course, it has to do with the break-up, but maybe somebody can share some deeper insights? I'd appreciate it! :-)
