thawildawg asked:
Curious question. I'm not sure if you answered this or not, but since Felicity has had more airtime than Laurel has lately, will Emily Bett Rickards get second billing instead of Katie Cassidy for season 4?

No.

felicity-smoak-is-my-goddess asked:
Marc, what do we have to do in order for u to show us Emily Bett's audition tape???

No one’s ever asked before…

splitsunshine asked:
Since the flashbacks don't tend to be that long, around how many days does it take to film them per episode?

We try to film them in one shooting day.

clcmjd asked:
When you say you respond to what you see in the "dailies" what exactly are dailies?

Great question.  “Dailies” refers to the footage shot on the previous day.

hotsforlaurel asked:
I don't know how the entertainment industry works but I have to know. When it comes to casting the big bads, is it not possible to keep their casting news as secret? I would think their shock factor would reach new levels when they see the big bads on screen for the first time! Please answer this.

I will say that it’s EXTREMELY hard to keep casting news a secret.  Reporters always seem to find out ahead of time.

splitsunshine asked:
Have you ever had to cut a scene during filming because it just wasn't working out as how you pictured it while writing it? Can you give an example?

Oh yeah.  We’ve cut a bunch of scenes for that reason.  I don’t want to call our any particular ones because people worked hard on them.

mrsd923 asked:
Hey Marc! Fellow Long Islander here! I have a question about the fan art that came out... Is the car in the background meant to be the Porsche or another car in the Queen/Smoak arsenal? (See what I did there? ;-) ) thank you so much! Love you and love the show!

The art isn’t fan art, but rather, concept art produced by our amazing Art Department.  But they just used a random car.  Nothing to read into there…

jedichick04 asked:
Hi Marc! I can't wait for all the exciting things to come in Season 4. The new Arrow Bunker looks amazing! I couldn't help but notice the silver sports car in the concept art. Is that the same silver Porsche Oliver and Felicity took on their trip?

No, it’s just part of the concept art.  Sorry.

olicityquestions asked:
How many more episodes are you going to film until you can make the trailer?

We’re gonna start getting into it this week.

olicityquestions asked:
Are you still writing Arrow episodes or is the writing process done? If you aren't done with writing then what episode are you guys writing right now? Can't wait to have Arrow back on my TV!

Oh, we’re still writing.  Currently working on Ep. 407.

Non-spoilery MG posts at http://marcguggenheim.tumblr.com/

(spoilery posts have been added to Spoilers thread, b-t-s posts have been added to Slings and Arrows thread, and comics posts have been added to Green Arrow in Comics thread)...

felicity-smoak-is-my-goddess asked:
Marc, what made u decide to be a lawyer????

I was very interested in the use of the judicial system to right personal wrongs.

i-write-with-surma asked:
Hi laurel lance is your lead female I just wanted to remind you of that.

Thanks.

seanny-boi asked:
In season 4 will we see oliver and the gang drink in a cafe in starling that looks suspiciously like jitters???

You already did.  In Season 3.  (I can’t remember the episode offhand.)

nataliacosta83 asked:
I used to love the show so much but it's gone so far away from the comic, this romance between Oliver and Felicity just killed it for me, sorry :(

Sorry!

olicityalamode asked:
Do the people who send you complaints about fanservice realize their hypocrisy? Because they're essentially asking for you to do something as well.

LOL.  I think it’s a safe bet that they don’t realize that.

ogteamarrow asked:
I just want to thank you so much for embracing the originality of your characters and making their stories and trajectory organic and natural, this in regard to Digg and Felicity, Olicity and developing Oliver by not just going by comics but by taking those elements and twisting them into your own thing. It's particularly awesome that you haven't written Digg's codename yet because you don't want it to be forced. That's such a compliment I can't even tell you! :)

Thank you so much!

truemascara asked:
Can baby Sara be renamed Andrea after Diggle's brother Andy considering adult Sara isn't dead anymore?

Hah!  I don’t think so.

hotsforlaurel asked:
Season 3 flashback felt like it had no direction. Please tell me you have a solid idea of where the flashbacks will be going and how it will end. Had this year been the introduction to season 3 after season 2, I wouldn't have asked this question.

I think we have a very solid plan for the flashbacks in Season 4.

fivecentsless asked:
Roy said that Grant must be some teacher when seeing Laurel fight. Nyssa said that she was an excellent teacher when seeing Laurel fight. Can we infer that Laurel just has a natural talent for fighting?

I think you can infer that Laurel’s had some pretty good teachers.

If they're currently writing 407, that would mean 409 or 410 would be written even before the first episode aired.

No wonder they have a writer on set making changes if the scripts are completed that far ahead.

Jersey Boy Jon Stewart is hosting Summer Slam...if he calls it NY I'm gonna cut a bitch!

ETA: Wait is it at the Medowlands or Brooklyn? I swear I saw East Rutherford listed somewhere but the Jon Stewart article is saying Barclay Center.

ETAA: OK, it's Barclay. ..was RAW in East Rutherford?

It's a good thing David's not holding a real gun because that's the wrong and dangerous way to hold it if you are not shooting anything. Paul is holding it the right way.

David's been hanging with Plaxico...at least it's not pointed down.  ;-)

Of course Paul looks like he's aiming to "accidentally" shoot David LOL

One scene I wish hadn't been cut was Sara and Felicity cleaning up the lair after Slade had wrecked it.  It gave insight into Felicity's emotional issues, and supported that Sara and Felicity really did have a close friendship.  I assume it was cut for time because it didn't advance Oliver's Slade storyline.

I hate that they cut/fail ever to write character scenes. Not everything has to be PLOTPLOTPLOT. I had a whole thing awhile back in which I argued they should have had a scene in which Felicity and Digg and maybe Thea and Lyla have a short discussion re getting Oliver back. That would show how much he meant to them and been some kind of follow-up to her big threat to Ra's, which ended up going nowhere. The counterargument is that it was a scene that didn't contribute to the plot, bc Oliver was back and then it was all over a couple days later, but I don't care. I think it would have been a worthwhile CHARACTER moment. I was a huge Fringe/Walter Bishop fan, and he had tons of scenes that had nothing to do with the plot, but showed who he was and how he related to the world after everything that he'd gone through. One of my favorite Fringe scenes, ever, was Walter grocery shopping with Peter. Literally just grocery shopping. It was AWESOME. There was no plot point in which his grocery shopping trip allowed him to make an important scientific breakthrough; it was just a really cool scene showing him relating to the world and to his son, and it was so worthwhile. They don't take time for scenes like that on Arrow, and it really bothers me. Fringe had plenty of action and PLOT, but it took the time for the characters, and I don't think it's too much to expect Arrow to show its characters the same respect.

Here's the scene:

It goes from fun, to scary, to heartbreaking, in one minute, and says so much about who Walter is now. It went nowhere in terms of plot, and I could not love it more. (Also, it has the line "Death, delicious strawberry-flavored DEATH!")

SA is so excited about the Slam, he's like a giant dorky kid.  The same when he was giving EBR the Smoak baseball shirt.  It's like there are two SAs, the serious adult who concentrates on getting the job done (who GeekDad met when they did the "Fight Club" promo) and then there's this kid who is loving the chance to live out his dream.

I might have been turned off at some of the things he does, as I am with a number of celebrities, if he weren't so genuinely delighted about this and the home run, and good about raising money for charities and replying to fans.

Paul Blackthorne has been doing a number of thing for his " PoachEggsNotElephants" campaign. (I broke down yesterday and bought a tote bag when he said an elephant is killed every 18 hours..) A few days ago, he said he would skype three people who contributed.

It reads like the piece was written by KC's press agent, although I shouldn't snark because she did go to Malawi in 2009 to help create a garden, and she designed a gold pendant for  the charity which you can buy for $1,595.00.

I did notice that there is nothing there about PB's elephant campaign..

So is "female lead" a common term that's used, or do we have KC's publicist to thank for it? I usually just see "star" or "co-star" in those blurbs. Like, was Nina Dobrev ever referred to as the "female lead" on TVD?

Link to comment

I've noticed lately media sources referencing SA, DR and EBR first (or only in some cases). Eonline calls EBR 'Arrow's Leading Lady' and since a lot of articles talk Olicity, EBR gets a lot of attention.

If I was KCs PR, I would highlight everything with KCs second billing.

I see "female lead" a lot in movie PR language. Generally when the "male lead" has already been cast, but they're still looking for, or have just cast the "female lead".

He's going to take maybe a basic bump, execute a few moves and get the win for his team.  Neville will do most of the heavy lifting, and they'll have him work with Stardust, since that's who the storyline is mainly with.

He was also a guest on the beautiful Renee Young's show Unfiltered on the WWE Network.  He mentions that he wants Oliver to be more humorous and have fun, he also talks about being a spin instructor and that his wife wants to meet Spin Instructor Steve, and mentions being at Wrestlemania 6 and crying because Hulk Hogan lost.  There was a whole of talent at that show that didn't even work for the company, Amell, Edge, and Christian were in attendance and Diamond Dallas Page drove the pink Cadillac for Rhythm and Blues.

I'm just weirdly worried about him, I think partly because I dearly love that he can/does do a lot of his own stunts. (I also don't want him to be hurt because he's a fellow human being and all that, but seriously, he does a lot of his own stunts!)

What's a basic bump? Do they still do the closeline/rope action? I remember that gimmick getting used a lot with celebrity or joke match ups. It always looked fun...still have the desire to try it out.

ETA: Nevermind, looked up "bump".

A clothesline or get hit from behind then slammed or suplexed.  He won't take much more than that because there's no way his contract allows him to do much more than that.  You know Warner made sure of that.

I was watching America's Next Top Model last night (by default, don't ask) and there were promos for both Flash and Arrow during that episode. However, the promos were vastly different.  The Flash promo was a brand new short video clip, and they also showed the Flash logo with the return air date pop up in the bottom right corner at least twice during the episode.  The Arrow promo consisted of one SA voiceover message played during the closing credits of ANTM. Just another example where more money is spent on Flash than Arrow.

Keep in mind this was during the time slot that normally airs Arrow.

SA did another live chat on his facebook page yesterday.  He'll be in Chicago on Friday & Saturday (Comic-Con), and in Brooklyn on Sunday (WWE SummerSlam):

https://www.facebook.com/stephenamell

WM did another brief round of answering fan questions on twitter (no spoilers):
-- On what's different about how she writes Oliver this season, WM: "He tells jokes!!"
-- On whether she has a fave musician that she can describe eps with their songs (like MG does with Billy Joel songs), WM: "Coincidentally my latest mix happens to be @taylorswift13 and @TheRyanAdams! Can't wait for #RyanAdam1989"
-- On whether she and MG already know how S4 is going to end and where each character will be in their lives, or developed over time, WM: "Yes...we do. #NotTellingThough"

I enjoyed PY on Suburgatory. His lovable, doofusy, sweet Ryan made SA's Hung character look like a rocket scientist in comparison.

Since SA's eschewing shirtlessness nowadays, here's hoping PY will pick up the slack.

I too watched it ANTM... I also noted that the FLASH promos made the show seem like it was going to be less happy this season. Frankly it looks like it might be a little drama overload.

My thoughts about why they didn't air ARROW is that they know that people in that time slot are probably already ARROW fans if they tuned in just because of the timeslot. I feel like I have seen a lot more ARROW promos this hiatus than before... especially on sat/sun or the media times that belong to the affiliates not the major network. So perhaps they are trying to broaden their audience. The lack of promotion does not bother me, I'd prefer they put money into putting on a good show than trying to get new audience.
