FurryFury May 28, 2015 Share May 28, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure if I can post spoilers here (there doesn't seem to be a dedicated thread), so I'll spoiler-tag these news just in case (not that they were shocking): Two audition videos for the second season of Netflix's Daredevil were posted today on Vimeo, then deleted. They were of two women with exotic features reading for the same part, which we believe is Elektra Natchios. She's the ninja assassin with ties to The Hand, created by Frank Miller in Daredevil #168 in 1981, who uses twin sais as her signature weapons. She became a love interest for Matt Murdock, but was torn between her desire to be with Matt and her violent lifestyle. The actresses auditioning read two scenes. One involved Elektra intimidating some sort of thug and the second scene is Elektra flirting with Matt Murdock back in college. You'll remember from the first season of Daredevil that Foggy teases Matt his gorgeous, Greek college flame. That would probably be Elektra. http://comicbook.com/2015/05/26/possible-elketra-auditions-for-season-2-of-netflixs-daredevil/ Edited May 28, 2015 by FurryFury Link to comment
SnoGirl June 6, 2015 Share June 6, 2015 (edited) They've apparently cast the role of Bullseye. I'm not sure how I feel about it being Jason Statham but I've always liked seeing him in action movies. Edited June 6, 2015 by SnoGirl Link to comment
FurryFury June 6, 2015 Author Share June 6, 2015 Not a big fan of Jason Statham, I feel like the only character he's been playing in his movies is Jason Statham. Link to comment
Eegah June 6, 2015 Share June 6, 2015 He also took a big swipe at the MCU recently, saying it relies way too much on CGI rather than real stunts. Link to comment
The Crazed Spruce June 6, 2015 Share June 6, 2015 That rumour's been debunked. Jason Statham will not be playing Bullseye. Link to comment
AimingforYoko June 6, 2015 Share June 6, 2015 Yeah, it made no sense to me that he would rip Marvel-Comic Book movies if he was in negotiations to play in one. He's kind of a meathead, but not that big a meathead. Link to comment
WendyCR72 June 9, 2015 Share June 9, 2015 The Walking Dead actor, Jon Bernthal, has been cast as "The Punisher" for Season 2. 5 Link to comment
HolmesUltimateQu June 9, 2015 Share June 9, 2015 The Walking Dead actor, Jon Bernthal, has been cast as "The Punisher" for Season 2. I'm excited about it. I think Jon Bernthal is great -- he was great as Shane on TWD and I think he'll be great here. 2 Link to comment
benteen June 9, 2015 Share June 9, 2015 Punisher...**** yeah! This has been the casting news I had hoped for the most and glad to see it's become a reality. The Punisher on a Daredevil series is just a total no-brainer. Their history and contrasting styles of justice are perfect for this format. 2 Link to comment
FurryFury June 10, 2015 Author Share June 10, 2015 I'm a bit wary about so many new characters. I'm afraid they are going to steal some spotlight - not from Matt, he's obviously safe, but from Foggy and Karen whom I've grown to love. That said, I'm still pretty excited to see them because they all sound awesome. Link to comment
Danny Franks June 11, 2015 Share June 11, 2015 Hmm. I like Jon Bernthal, and think he's a very good actor, but I do not like the Punisher. At all. He's such a trite character. 'Oh yeah, family dead, wants vengeance, shoots guns and wears a shirt with a skull on it'. He's basically every Steven Seagal movie from the 80s, and Steven Seagal movies suck. 1 Link to comment

I'm not all that familiar with "The Punisher", but as clichéd as he sounds, I'm willing to see how he works here since the writing - IMO - has been great for both the heroes and villains, none being cardboard. Maybe that depth will extend to the new crop of characters with the new show runners, too. 2 Link to comment
dwmarch July 1, 2015 Share July 1, 2015 Apparently season 2 will focus on Daredevil versus the Punisher. This ought to be awesome. I know the previous Punisher movies haven't been met with any critical acclaim but I loved the first one (the Punisher versus leather-clad geishas and random ninjas) and the third one with Jigsaw. We don't necessarily need to see the Punisher's backstory (it was covered in a few lines of dialog in the third movie) since he's a pretty self-explanatory character. Another thing to love about him is that he keeps the show grounded and hardcore. The Punisher isn't a superhero. Like Daredevil, he's relying on body armor and luck (and unlike Daredevil, ruthlessness) to take down the bad guys rather than by using a magical hammer or an iron suit. FurryFury July 1, 2015 Author Share July 1, 2015 I've never seen the movies but I love the idea of Punisher because heroes never killing their enemies is a pet peeve of mine and he sounds like a great way to show the other side of this decision. Plus, it means Fisk won't be the focus (presumably) and I need a break from him. Link to comment
thuganomics85 July 7, 2015 Share July 7, 2015 (edited) And we've got our Elektra: Elodie Yung, who I vaguely remember being Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Edited July 7, 2015 by thuganomics85 1 Link to comment
AimingforYoko July 7, 2015 Share July 7, 2015 So now a French-Cambodian is supposed to be Greek? Kudos for diversity, I guess. Link to comment
VCRTracking July 7, 2015 Share July 7, 2015 I think the only reason Frank Miller made her Greek in the first place was because he wanted to use the name "Elektra"! Link to comment
pootlus July 8, 2015 Share July 8, 2015 With some of the whitewashing going on lately, we should probably be relieved that they didn't cast a blonde-haired blue-eyed fair-skinned English girl. On the other hand, Greeks are a pretty racially diverse people. Eh if she can handle the action and has chemistry with Charlie I say bring it on. 2 Link to comment

To the bolded I remember reading that Elodie Yung have 10yrs of karate under her belt and she did pretty good handling the action scenes in GI Joe and another movie. I'm really excited about her playing Elektra she's in my top 5 favorite female comic book characters. I wish we had some set pictures of her as Elektra I can't wait till April besides some movies this is one of the only shows I'm looking forward to in 2016. Link to comment
